we bought the bose portable docking station for our wedding, but i know there are other more affordable docking stations out there that other BDW brides have used that worked out fine.

we stuck with bose because we knew for sure it would be loud enough (we have family who use theirs for outdoor parties all the time). sure, it cost $400 (actually we got ours refurbished from a bose outlet for less), but we saw it as an investment. at dreams cancun, just using their sound system for a few hours would have cost about as much (and a dj even more), without having anything to show for it afterward. this way we spent the money, but we own an awesome system.

My daughter and her DH bought the Bose portable docking station and carryon bag (you'll definitely want this - it makes it so easy to take with you). It worked great - her reception/dance was outside by the beach and we could hear the music loud and clear. (They had recorded several hours of music onto their Ipod beforehand.) Also, they then had the use of it the entire week in their room, which she said they really enjoyed. They just returned from another trip in Hawaii and that was the one "must-have" that they carried on with them.

yeah we're excited about being able to use it in our room all week as well, and also have gotten the carrying case. i thought $60 for a carrying bag was a bit much, but we saved about that much by getting our docking system refurbished, and from an outlet store. (fyi, the refurbished unit still has the bose warranty.)

seeing another post here reminded me that i swear someone PM'd me about which outlet store we bought our BOSE system. i don't think i ever answered, and now i can't find the message? anyway, hopefully they'll see this: we bought ours at bose in the crossings outlets in tannersville, pa., however, i believe there's a bose store in the tanger outlets in rehoboth, delaware as well (and there's no sales tax in delaware)!

If you don't want to pay for a Bose system (which is an awesome brand btw), then go to a store where they can let you test the system. I actually used to work at The Source by Circuit City, and we would test systems all the time for customers, and we had a store brand, Centrios, that made an AWESOME sounding system, we didn't sell Bose, but it was the best sounding system we had in store, it definitely beat out iHome, iSymphony (the smaller sytems, not the full-sized), Plantronics, and Vestalife. Now I will also add, it was the ONLY one made by Centrios that actually sounded good, the others sounded like a tin can. But your best bet is to go to a store where the systems are open and operating and bring your ipod and test it. And ask if you can turn it up wink.gif Most stores will let you, just make sure to talk to a younger associate, because some of the older ones think there's no need in playing it louder. Plus, systems sound different when they're on low volume vs. high volume :) It can sound "tinny" on low, and "rumbling" on high, or it can sound perfect low, but crackles when turned higher.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
