  1. With 13 days before we leave I'm planning the seating arrangements and how I want the reception to look, the only problem is that I've never been down to Azul. Fabio sent me a sketch of the terrace layout, but it is not to scale, and after I tried my best to layout the tables, and the cake table, and the buffet tables, everything looks to crammed and with no much space for dancing. Do you think that the terrace is too small to set up 5 tables about 6'x6' seating 8 person each, plus a sweetheart table, the cake table, the buffet tables with area for serving the food plus space for dancing? What about the private bar? Is that something that they set inside the terrace or how does that work? Do you have any suggestions of where I can put the buffet area for people to go and get their food? I would ask Nancy but she'll probably take 8 days to reply and I would really like to know now.   4. Does anybody has the contact info for the on-site WC at Azul? My brother who lives in Cancun and is helping me with the wedding would like to have a meeting with her this week, and obviously is not like Nancy is going to give me her info.   6. Anybody has any experience with the DJ at Karisma. I'm not sure if being an Ipod bride will work with them. They are trying to charge me too much for their music equipment that at the end it would be better to go with a DJ. Any takes?
  7. I know some brides have used them. I'd like more information on the quality. How loud were the speakers? I'm just afraid that my guests won't be able to hear the music. My hotel is trying to rip me off for the sound equipment. I need help!
  8. I'm getting married there in 2 months, Fabio was my WC but after too many problems with him, I got reassigned to Nancy who's not any better at all. I'm having a private cocktail party at the wave lounge and a private dinner reception at the terrace. That's all I know as of now, because they NEVER answer any of my questions, and I'm leaving in exactly 60 days!

Fabio was my online wedding coordinator but we had so many disagreements that they took him off my account and assigned Nancy, who after a month hasn't still contact me. Can't wait to see your pictures, and I'm glad everything went fine
  10. I'm schedule to do my honeymoon in EDR. WE have one of the casitas booked. Right now I'm in a battle with Karisma Resorts and they are on my black list of people I really don't like. The reason is because I'm getting married at Azul Beach Hotel and they've been extremely difficult, unprofessional and incompetent. Anyways now I feel like i don't want to give $6,000 for my honeymoon to Karisma, because they don't deserve my business, it's too late for me to change my wedding but I can still choose where to honeymoon. I feel really bad becuase FI is the one who picked the place and he is totally in love with the casitas suites. I know Excellence doesn't have casitas, but I'm trying to find something that FI would like as much as he liikes EDR. What do you guys think or suggest? Is one really much better than the other?

  14. Ok this is what I have so far: I chose Azul Beach Hotel because it came so highly recommended by my travel agent and I wanted the perfect place to share this important day. Unfortunately, I have to say that I have been extremely disappointed with both the service and the management. I am writing this letter because I hope that this issues can be resolved before my wedding on November 22, 2008 since I am not looking forward to having to get outside parties involved. My relationship with Fabio since day one has not been too impressive. After an incident that made us change our wedding date more than twice (due to Fabio's mistakes) , I received an email dated December 19th, 2007 from Ms. Wishnie where she's assuring us that Fabio would try to assist me and my fiance as best as he can while planning our wedding. After an email received from Fabio on December 28th, 2007 where he states that he'll try to exceed my expectations while helping me plan my wedding, I would expect nothing but perfection and responsiveness from him. Firstly, when I booked my weeding on November 28th, 2007 the hotel was running a promotion and I was offered a $900 spa credit which I am now being denied. The spa credit is listed in my wedding application which you can find below, but I am now being told that since my wedding is on a Saturday the spa credit does not apply. Clearly, if it had been an issue that my wedding was on a Saturday then I should have been informed when I was booking my wedding, not now 7 months later!. Fabio claims that he sent me an email on December 3rd, 2007 informing me about the issue but neither me or my travel agent received such email. In addition, since the spa promotion it is listed in my wedding application I do not see how you could legally deny me it. Fabio has been very difficult to work with and many times has taken as long as 2 months to reply to one of my emails. He also seems to change his story and is very inconsistent; I have the emails to back this up. I have heard similar complains from previous and prospect Azul brides. I'm sure you realize how difficult and stressful it is to plan a destination wedding from such a long distance and I was under the impression that Fabio was supposed to make this process easier, not more difficult. Because of all the past incidents, I am requesting a different wedding coordinator. As I have previously mentioned, I sincerely hope these issues can be resolved before my wedding. I am disappointed with the service and the treatment that I have received from your hotel. However, I am willing to work with you to fix these problems.
  15. I'm not really good at writing complains and such, I tend to ramble a lot. I want to write an email to the manager of my hotel stating what has been going on and to push them to give me the $900 credit toward the spa like it was promised. Does anybody wants to help me? Thanks

  17. No updates yet! My TA told me she'd handle it. I gave her a week and she still didn't give me any updates. I'm emailing the manager on Monday. I really thought she would be able to handle it because she deals with them all the time, but I'm getting frustrated with the whole situation. I tried to take a break not thinking about it, but I'd like to solve this sooner than later. Thanks for your kind words

I think I would even make a stink about the spa promotion... did it ever say that it was for limited dates? They may have changed the promotion since you booked, but why on earth would they ask you which package you wanted if it didn't apply to your date? That's ridiculous! Exactly! thats the same thing I said. IF that was the case that the promotion was only for wedding perform on certain dates, then they should have told me 8 months ago.
  20. Tammy: I didn't hire an outside WC. I thought that given the reputation of the hotel, they'd be able to handle everything and my TA since is a former destination bride has been helping me.
  21. I'm trying to gather my thoughts before I contact the manager. At the same time I found out prices for the chairs I wanted with outside vendors for significantly less than what the hotel quoted me. So I'm going to try to work something out with them, but I'm really really upset.

When I booked my wedding back in november 2007, Karisma hotels were running a promotion, where you could either get $900 credit toward the spa, a room upgrade or a free stay for the one year anniversary. Since I didn't care much about the rooms, and knowing we didn't want to go back for our anniversary I choose the spa credit. When I did my application online, it asked me what I wanted and thats what I put. I received an email confirmation with the application and it clearly states that I'm getting the WEDSPA promotion. First of all my wedding date was supposed to be November 15, 2008. When I first contacted Fabio last year he told me that date was available. I asked him to send me the payment form so that I can book the date. Then he sends me an email saying that is not available and asking what other date I wanted. I then said I wanted November 22 and to please let me know how I could pay. He replies sending me the payment form and also telling me that it was a mistake and that November 15 was still available in case I still wanted that date. I quickly paid my deposit and signed a contract with that date because thats what we really wanted. 2 weeks later he sends me an email apologizing and saying that the date was previously booked by another couple and asking me to please change my date to November 22. Needless to say that I was furious since it was an issue from the beginning, and I already had paid my deposit and signed a contract with that date, and I told him that unfortunately I wasn't changing my date or I just wanted my money back. I actually emailed the hotel manager because at that point I didn't want to deal with Fabio anymore. They made me an offer I couldn't resit and I then agreed to change my date to November 22, 2008. A few days later I received an email from Fabio apologizing and saying that he would try his best to exceed my expectations. Fast forward to this week, when I send him an email asking him about the rehearsal, and if I needed to make reservations ahead of time to use the spa credit, he then replies saying that my package doesn't include the wedspa promotion and that I'm not eligible because that promotion is only for weddings performed on Monday, Tuesdays or Wednesdays. Did they tell me this when I booked it and they reviewed my application? NO! They are just telling me now 8 months later and ONLY because I asked, for all I know I could have shown up thinking I was going to get a spa day!! This on top of the fact they are now trying to say they do not provide any decoration for the ceremony gazebo, only 12 chairs and a wood walkway and a table. But in an email that Fabio sent me on April 22, he says that my package includes decoration as "shown" and the picture he sent me shows a gazebo with fabric and flowers. UGh! All this is really frustrating. I tried to contact an outside florist to see how much she will charge me for the flowers and fabric since Azul quoted me $380 for that, and $14.00 for the chivari chairs. At this point I just want to switch hotels and not deal with them anymore. My travel agent is trying to solve the issues, but I'm really frustrated and heart broken. Wedding planning is supposed to be fun and happy times, and everytime I deal with Fabio and Azul I feel like they are trying to scam me. I'm trying to gather all the prices from the outside vendors and then I'll email the hotel manager with my take on the whole situation. I'm done dealing with Fabio, I know the wedding is in less than 5 months, and I have like 40 guests booked, but to be honest if I could change locations, I would. Sorry that this is too long, but I just want to cry
