Hi Everyone :)

I'm a January 11th 2011 bride. We originally were going to get married at the Gran Bahia Cayo Levantado in Samana, DR in Nov of 2010...but... we visited the place and decided we would never go back...not to mention it was very rainy.

We have not decided on Varadero, Cuba (Iberostar Varadero) I think.... I'm still working on the actual location.

I have my dress and my wedding photographer but I just want to plan it all RIGHT NOW!

I wish I could go down to the resort to check it out but we used our Research and Development trip on DR....good thing we did!

Love this tread! Now I can vent about the wait to people who understand :)

Just getting together the STD's, im having them perforated with an rsvp side, that way whom ever replies that they are attending will receive a formal invite (save some money on this part). Has anyone purchased their dress already? Im going to a blow out sale to try my luck. Well ladies have a good night, and happy planning!! :)

Yep I definitely have my dress already, I don't think you can really get it too early!

Was dreams punta cana previously sunscape? I think I remember reading something that they remodeled to be a dreams resort. If so, I was there before it was dreams on vaca in March 2007. It was a gorgeous resort. I did see a wedding party taking photos when I was there and it was absolutely beautiful. Beach was great, quality of food, service and rooms (we just stayed in the basic room, I think all have balconies or terraces) was top notch.

For anyone traveling to the DR, I would reccomend booking some type of organized shuttle transportation in advance instead of getting a taxi at the airport. It's a long ride through some not so great areas. Especially with the recent eathquakes in haiti, you don't want to take any chances. Also, I would strongly reccomend any guests to not rent a car to drive to the resort. Advice from my coworker before I went there - her brother's wife is from the DR. I can give you more details if you want. Not trying to scare you, just an important piece of info to keep in mind since you and your guests will be travelling there.

My previous post I was trying to respond to love88... lol I'm new and haven't quite figured out how to quote someone in my reply yet.

BTW - I'm Sarah and a 2011 bride! We're looking at a couple places in the Riviera Maya for (hopefully) May 14th 2011. I'm actually headed to mexico in 2 weeks to check out my top 2 picks: Valentin Imperial Maya and Dreams Riviera Cancun. SO I can definitely provide some good feedback on these two resorts as of Feb 6th!

The big question on my mind lately is when to buy a dress? What are all you 2011 brides thinking of looking/buying? Or have you already? Short or long? I want to go with a beach ceremony, so I'm thining something tea-length... But I don't know if I should order something online or try to find short dresses at local shops? Any advice, or am I thinking about the dress way too early? I'm so sick of resort research, I've moved on to the next thing

I already have my dress. It's long... I tried on some shorter one's and I am only 5'3", so that didn't work out so well. I looked like a little person for sure, if I were wearing heels it would be different. I went to a local shop and asked if they had any destination gowns, they had a ton! Bought one right off the rack... it fit perfectly. Now I have to work out for 13 more months to stay this exact size, haha!!

I got sick of the resort search. Glad I finally settled on one! FI kind of put his foot down and said pick one already. He loved Dreams PA (which was Sunscape before, IDK about Dreams PC) and I didn also, so that settled it. Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
