- I definitely agree with those that said people you thought would be there won't --- hardly any of my extended family came to my wedding and it was really hard. BUT I can honestly say on the day of the wedding, I wasn't thinking of any of them :)

- Don't expect things to go entirely smoothly the day of; they probably won't...but it's okay!

- Friendships might be challenged and you may feel that you aren't being made to feel as special for your wedding because a lot of people can't come, so they act like they don't care that much.

- SPRING FOR GOOD PHOTOGRAPHY. I can't stress enough how important this is. We hired a photographer from my home state and flew him to Mexico, but it was worth every penny. Same goes for video. The photographer and videographer gave us priceless works of art that we will have for the rest of our lives...we could have saved a lot using the vendors at the resort, but to us, it was so worth it to spring for the good stuff! Here's our wedding film: http://vimeo.com/70227492

- You will most likely have to hunt people down for their RSVPs!

Beautiful video Kate and congrats to you and the Mr on your gorgeous wedding.  It was so heartfelt!

That's why we're springing for photography and video also....i definitely want to have beautiful memories of everything that weekend.

I got a tear in my eye when your groom saw you!  Very sweet!

I was questioning whether to get the videographer but after reading all these testimonies, I decided I will go the extra mile and get it!

Thank you so much! You definitely should, you won't be sorry!

Congrats Kate! Your video was so beautiful and moving I loved the emotion you both had on your special day.  Your dress was also so whimsical you looked gorgeous.  I might have to steal some of your decorations I got some really good ideas. msnwink.gif

Things I learned: Don't try to over plan activities for guests, they will appreciate the time you give them, but they also understand that you have other things to do. Give OOT bags, all of my guests loved them and used them all week long, it gave the wedding trip a special touch. If you are not using a DJ, download the Wedding DJ app, it is super simple, you plan all of your own music, and it is nearly impossible to mess it up! Be careful of tan lines until after the wedding, they don't look very good in wedding photos! If you are not using a professional videographer, check out WeddingMix http://www.storymixmedia.com/weddings/ they send cameras, you and your guest record and send it back in, and they arrange it into a beautiful video for you (I will post when it is finished!). Don't even try shoes on the sand! I brought 2 different wedding shoes (wedges for sand and heels for party) and wore them only for photos and went barefoot the whole day...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
