Gown sought, gown bought, gown hated, now what?

This really does happen alot. I say that you keep it for now. Go dress shopping again. Take pictures of yourself in dresses you "LOVE" or like. I always take pictures cause I don't trust mirrors.... and this way you can refer back to it. Also take a pic of yourself in the dress you already have. Just keep dress shopping and taking pictures. Then compare all of these pictures and see what you like. I also suggest when you go dress shopping try on a few dresses you think you don't like or you're not interested in because I dress looks different on everyone... and it always looks different on you than on the hanger. You may find in the end that the dress you have is perfect or you'll find a different one you like and you can sell the dress you have and buy the one you absolutely LOVE!!!! The dress is so important to us but remember the dress isn't what makes you beautiful!

I'm having the same problem....I went dress shopping with my Mom and she bought me a dress I thought was the one at the time....but now i think i only liked it because my mom loved it so much.....hopefully once I get it I'll start to like it more sad.gif...If not I'll try to sell it and get a new one smile123.gif....I think we tend to feel this way because this is the one day that is ours and we want to look as beautiful as we can....but i think no matter what we wear our FH's are gonna think we are gorgeous!!!!thewave.gif

You are not alone and don't think you are going crazy either. I went through the same thing, only to return my dress as soon as I got it. When I went back, I was more relaxed and found "the one". If you have any doubts, keep looking and return the dress.

I just checked out your planning bio and I LOVE your dress! Your DIY invites were so great too! I bet your guests were so excited to get them!

God, my story is exactly the same and I thought I was alone. I bought my dress 5 months ago and 2 sizes too small. Now I really don't like the dress and its too big(the only good thing). I think it's too much dress for me b/cause I'm only 5'0. Whatever, the case I'm hoping I love the dress after the alterations and after I accessorize.. Hang in there....

I agree with the other ladies. Put it away for awhile and go look at some others. Ones you like or think you dislike. You may be surprised and go back to the one you already have. Just relax, and enjoy this time. You will know when you have the dress for you.

I bought a dress the first day I went shopping....it looked good on me, and I let my opinion be swayed by everyone in the store saying that was their favorite...so i bought in. In the car on the way home I had a breakdown and called the store, telling them I didn't feel good about the purchase...they let me return it, but only on the condition that I buy another one from them (this was also non-refundable) - so perhaps the store will work with you, if you can find another dress there. Fortunately I ended up finding a dress I loved at the same store...so it all worked out. PS - did the same thing with my veil - bought cathedral length, then regretted the decision, returned it and bought a shorter one (again, they credited me because I bought the new one in the store too). Moral of the story for me - i should not make big decisions so quickly and be swayed by the opinion of others.

I had a similar situation to y'alls. I went out with my Grandma totally "just looking" but ended up loving the last dress I tried on. My Grandma advised me to sleep on it but I though "No, I love this. And it's one thing off of my plate!". Wellll, flash forward to that night. I'm absolutely bawling my eyes out because I've completely over analyzed every single pic of me in it. It was 100% non-refundable/returnable. Thank goodness after I slept on it the next day my buyer's remorse was gone relief.gif

I told myself as soon as I bought the dress that I would not go into any more bridal stores. Of course, I see beautiful dresses on here all the time and it makes me doubt myself a tiny bit but actually it all worked out because I've been really sick lately and there's no telling when I would have felt well enough to go dress shopping again!! So, I am so thankful that I found a dress that I loved and it's out of the way. I know my FI would love me in just about anything but I really think he will like this dress and I will feel very special in it. Plus it's so much more comfy than all the other dresses I tried on which is muy importante! wink.gif

Bottom line - Try not to scrutinize yourself. Don't look at it 10x/day and over analyze it like we girls tend to do wink.gif Maybe get someone else's opinion who you really trust (for me that was my best friend who is also a fashion designer) and ask them to be completely honest. That is what saved me! If in the end you just are NOT happy, then by all means sell it and go get a new one. Just don't be too hard on yourself, k? :)

I'm going through the same!

I like my current dress but I don't love it. My FI wasn't happy with the idea of me getting another dress (money gone to waste), but once he saw me stressing,girl_werewolf.gif he said: "It's your day and you have to do whatever makes you happy."

He's right!

It's your day, and if your not happy, then go out find a dress that does make you happy!! I know I am!

Good luck!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
