Same ceremony site as your friend?

Recommended Posts

Ok, so I have a dilema...I want to get married at the Four Seasons in Maui but one of my great friends just was married there last summer. Is that tacky? Will I look like some huge copycat? I absolutely LOVE the site and I think that is the perfect spot. Thoughtshuh.gif

I don't think its tacky... but I would make sure to put my own twist on it (e.g. different colour/style flowers, centerpieces etc). Give it your own flare. You don't want to look back 10 years from now and wish you had your wedding somewhere else but didn't because of what people would think!! If you love it, go for it.

I would talk to your friend first just to make sure she doesn't feel weird about it, but otherwise if you make sure it's not the exact same wedding, I think it would be fine.

Definitely agree! I would talk to my friend about it as well however, I am not sure how honest she would really be.

It can be a simple as: Arranging chairs differently, constructing a chuppah instead of an arch, and of course time hosting in the evening as opposed to day.

I would feel honoured in a way, personally for a friend to get married at the same place I did. I guess because to me it would be a compliment that she enjoyed my wedding so much, especially if it was a super positive experience. Why risk going to an unknown hotel if her wedding was so good?

Definately make it your own and there should be no problems

agreed - i'd talk to my friend. but there's a reason she chose it for her wedding, it's beautiful i'm sure! so i am sure she wouldn't blame you for wanting it for your wedding as well. if she seems weird at all, maybe look for another location - but i'd assume a good friend would be flattered to share a wedding location!

Plus it's not like it was yesterday, it was last year. Don't stress!! Fact is, I kind of decided on my hotel based on recommendations from people from another board, not actual people I have met! HAHA so, this is even better, IMO

i would talk to her first and she how she feels about it...personally, i wouldnt care and would be flattered if a friend got married at the same resort as me...if my parents had their way, my 2 sisters would both get married at dreams.

Personally I wouldn't care, I would feel happy for my friend. As I told you in your newbie thread my FI and I are dying to go to the Four Season Maui. We got engaged in the Four Seasons NYC so we kind of want to hit up all the Four Seasons around the world. I can certainly understand why you would want to do it there. But honestly, most girls are weird about these kinds of things. Even if you speak to her, she may not be honest with you about how she really feels. She may feel that her wedding was different and unique and now if you have your wedding there you may be taking a part of that away from her. Sorry if I sound mean but since you asked I am being honest. I would def talk to her and see how she feels before you proceed with your plans. Hopefully she won't care and you can have your fabulous Four Seasons Wedding!!

    • we ended up using Facebook messenger when we were in Mexico - the hotel had free wifi and at least 1 person from each family/couple had FB on their phone already - it was pretty easy to communicate among guests "hey, we're heading to the beach bbq for lunch." or "everyone is hanging at the small pool today".  a plus was that some people tried to get a hold of me via FB on the day of the wedding and I was totally not checking my phone - they were asking if the wedding was outside given the rain forecast, thankful my mom, MOH and a few other friends were on the group and could respond for me :)

    • Hi Everyone, So, I was cleaning out my closet and realized that I never sold off my extra wedding OOT bag stuff from our wonderful DW.   46 Daily Spanish for Dummies 30 Pool colored OOT fabric bags - approximately 13in x 13in. They lay flat.  I used them for our wedding and they were perfect for everything we needed to fit in each bag. There’s a slight shade variation in the group; I’m guessing some were cut from a different bolt of fabric.  They are also a little wrinkled from storage and will probably be wrinkled from shipping. I have three additional ones, but they somehow got something on them (likely toddler related). If needed, I can try to wash it out and send those as well.
    • I’m getting married in six months to my foreign girlfriend. I was advised by a friend that one of the things I need to do before saying I do is to get a prenuptial agreement. Basically it’s supposed to protect my assets and properties in case my relationship with my future wife goes down the drain. I don’t know though if this is an acceptable practice when marrying Kiev ladies. I don’t want to do it if it would be insulting on her end. I need advice on this. Please help me.
