We flew Skyservice as well and we did have to put in up overhead...but another bride had to put hers in the same spot so we both took extra care leaving the plane so as to end up with the right dress :)

They do have irons and boards (at least in the Junior Suites anyways) my mother in law had a reg. room and she requested both to her room for the one day...no probs

Anyone know the policies for American Airlines? I should probably call them, but if anyone has expereince bringing on their wedding gown on this airline, I would greatly appreciate any experience or words of advice!

Every time my mom has flown down south there has been a bride, and they always hang them in the front cupboard.  Just be really nice and smiley and suck up to them, if you're mean I bet they won't, hahaha.

I was advised by the wedding shop to pack the dress shortly before the flight, that was its not in your baggage for longer than it needs to be. Apparently some airlines will hang it up at the front for you, but im flying with Thomson and they say it has to be packed into hand luggage or put in your suitcase. I am hoping to fit it into my hand luggage just so that it is close by me, but i am worried it will be abit tight getting it in. Not sure if my hotel are able to press the dress when i arrive either, i thought maybe hang it in a bath room and then heat and steam should sort it out....not sure if that will actually work though.

I haven't started looking for a wedding dress yet, but would ideally like a dress that won't wrinkle easily if packed in a carry-on luggage. What's the best type of dress material to consider? Thanks for any help.

I believe chiffon and satin are good options.  But I think if you're going for a light flowing dress, whatever the material it will pack easily in a carry on if thats what you want.

Thank you RoyalBride610! Yes, I'm probably going with a light flowing dress since it'll be so hot in Jamaica.
