The new Dreams Tulum thread! (Post all DT Qs&As here)

Recommended Posts

Hi past DT brides,

I am wanting to put together my Welcome Package for my guests, welcome letter, with info, map of resort..etc. I got some great templates off here from other brides. But I am hoping that some of you DT brides may have specific info on the resort that you could share with me, or maybe you already formatted a copy of the map, or write up about the resort. I don't mind doing some searching, but any help or guidance would be great.

Thanks!

wow SunBride! you are awesome! I have to say this took a lot of time, and I am very impressed with all the work you did. Thank you not only does this make my life a whole lot easier but it does for many other brides. the only question that I have is what would you have done differently if you guys could re-do something in the wedding/ ceremony. why would you change it, and also did you guys have a ring bearer or a flower girl? i think i accidently created a new thread instead of hitting reply.. lol

Hi Future DT brides,

I thought I would post these Pdfs that I got from Natalia in regards to flowers. I don't think they send this out until 2-3 months before the wedding...I am already rethinking what I am going to do for my bouquet...We are planning to do silks for the bridesmaids. For those of you thinking of using Angel's Accents, I was sad to see on her web site that she has no availability for orders and shipping until Feb 2012. So if you are a 2012 bride and are thinking of doing real touch flowers, she has received amazing reviews from past brides but I would order ASAP.

Congratulations!  We were recently married July 29, 2011.  I would not do much differently ~ I would make sure speeches are kept short and sweet.  The dancing time at the Reception can be very limited depending on if you are having a buffet or plated dinner and the length of the speeches.  We had a ring bearer and flower girl and they were adorable!  I brought our own toile for the chairs during the ceremony & reception - I wish we had brought ribbon instead.  The best thing we did was hire an outside photographer and DJ!  The resort photographer was sub par with very generic pictures.  Encourage your guests to book rooms in the newer section of the resort.  There were quit a few who had to switch rooms due to the "mold" smell and the resort was not very accommodating.

would any past DT brides be willing to take the time to make a list of every cost you had involved, with and outside of your package??? i know this is alot to ask, but it would be soooo helpfull (what package you used, vendor fees, set up fees,Dj,photographers, extra meals for people)  I am trying to decide which package to go with, either the complimentaray or silver package.
thanks!!!!!!

Hi Laura,

I am not a past DT bride but I agree with you...it seems like there are many costs not outlined when you receive your initial information from the wedding coordinator. What I have discovered so far that you may already know is that if you get the Dreams of Love(Silver) or the Ultimate package, the set up for the ceremony, chairs, etc is covered as long as you don't have more then 20 guests then I am pretty sure you need to pay a set up fee.

Also, I emailed Natalia last week to ask about decorations...if we get them to do it or we do it ourselves, they charge 4$ per person. Since we are only going to be 15 or so, it's worth our while to get them to do it. I am just going to make sure that the materials, instructions, photo of centerpieces/table are easy to follow as I know the language barrier may be an issue.

We just decided to upgrade to the ultimate package last week. Here is how we came to that decision.

1. I did like you, I looked at the prices for all the add ons that we wanted: mariachi band trio set was the main thing we wanted to add. Cost to add: 650$

Difference between the Dreams of Love and Ultimate package, 700$. Then we considered what else we would gain with the Ultimate package, chair covers, an extra floral centerpiece, massage for two or facial for two. These things along would cost way over the 700$ difference in packages.

Also, if you have not received the flower pdfs, I posted them a couple days ago. The choice is limited for what is included in the packages. We are likely to silks for the BM bouquets for this reason and using the ceremony centerpiece and the dinner centerpiece for our reception. I am going to ask that they are identical. Upgrading can cost extra money.

I hope this helps you. I look forward to hearing from past brides about other costs.

Happy Planning!

Hi,

Thanks for information. I am going to email my travel agent and see if she can make sure we are staying in the newer area. I am wondering if I should get my guests to contact the hotel? Some booked on their own or online. Why do you wish you brought ribbon instead? We are going with an outside photographer. We aren't planning on having a DJ. I think we're going to bring our laptop and speakers so we can have music and dance a bit at our reception.

I think the older section has the Deluxe Garden View Room, Deluxe Oceanview Room, Junior Suite Gardenview and Junior Suite Oceanview. In order to be in the newer section, it's either the Preferred or Premium Junior Suites or the Presidential Suites, which are the pricier rooms.

Hi guys!

I wanted to share some of my photos from my wedding May. I felt that the most stressful part of planning the wedding was choosing the site for the private reception. We chose the Adult/Relax Pool, and it was perfect! It felt very private, the most common concern about that site from reading this forum is the lighting and wind. Lighting was def not an issue at all, and it is windy at all of the outdoor reception sites! We brought all our own decorations, they were set up perfectly. The centerpieces we chose were $65 each, however, one came free with the wedding package, and they allowed me to sub a centerpiece for the bridal bouquet that came with the package (I brought my own real touch bouquet), so I only had to buy 2.

Anyway, hope the photos help you with your wedding planning! DT is the perfect resort, I would choose it again and recommend it to anyone in a heartbeat!

Feel free to ask any questions, I'll be around the forum again for a little while because I'm trying to sell lots of my wedding stuff :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
