SeeFlowers- great idea!  I ordered a picture book from Shutterfly, which i should be getting soon.. don't know if i'm going to use it as a guest book yet tho.

V- I really hate ordering clothes online but this wedding is giving no choice.. I can't find anything in the stores.  I just hope 1 of the dresses turns out right.  top 3 are from Macys and bottom is from Ann Taylor Loft.  I also like another dress from JCrew but still debating

here are the pics

Hi everyone!

I am not much of a forum person, but I stumbled onto this site and found this exceptionally informative thread of information on the Riu Palace Riviara Maya. After reading though, a lot of my questions are answered already and I feel so prepared now!

My wedding is already booked and over a year away, but I guess it is never to early to start planning.

So the one question I have is...

Has anyone had a family member play music at the ceremony?  My FI is a musician and songwriter and my plan is to have his father (also a musician) play some of my FI's songs acoustically while we walk down the isle. I don't see why that would be a problem but if anyone has requested this please let me know.

Ladies- please remind me..when is Riu suppose to be contacting us? was it 1 month or 2 months before?  Does Nancy mention any specific planning about the wedding day or is that all during the meeting?  and how soon should I book Renova Spa?

sorry I'm having a little panic moment..

I was panicking yesterday... exactly the same thing... was it 1 or 2 months... we fly out 8 weeks yesterday and what i thought was i will give it until just after next weekend then email her myself... if i remember rightly Nancy was slightly late in contacting Virginia, but got in touch with about 7 weeks to go? (I THINK)

Also im thinking of booking Renova ASAP, just want to have a chat with FSIL to see if she wants to book in at the same time as me and my mum.... xx

Hi ladies. So I just checked and my email came from Nancy February 11, which is just under two months before my wedding, but I had emailed her asking a bunch of other questions, and also asked when I would receive "the email." I got it two days later.

For the spa - in "the email" it gives you full instructions fro the spa. This was a little tough for me, because I had to book EVERYONE's spa appointments. Trying to figure out what everyone wanted to do, times, money, etc, was annoying. And I had to put down a 50% downpayment to book the appointments. The other 50% is due at the time of the appointment. The spa coordinator (Paula) is very helpful and responsive over email though. We emailed back and forth a few times, worked out the schedules and then I paid the downpayment through paypal. I didn't want the appointments too early in the day (ceremony is at 5pm) but she definitely put a little extra time in "just in case."

If anyone wants me forward you the email I got from them you can PM me your email address. You can see exactly what it looks like. It is a cookie cutter email - Jen had forwarded me one awhile back and it's exact...just names changed at the top.

Celestial - I love all of those dresses. Can't wait to hear how they are once they arrive! The Ann dress and top right dress (Nic's choice) are my favorites based on these pictures, but again, we'll see once they arrive!

Seeflowers - that's a great idea with the picture book!

We are doing wish lanterns. We are going to put them on the reception tables and have each of our guests write us a wish, and then all light them and set them off over the water after dinner. They are 100% biodegradable. I hope they actually work!! My fiance found them...the video's and pictures on their website look pretty neat. www.wishlanterns.com

V- Aaww.. that is such a great unique idea!!  it looks beautiful!

Does anyone plan on printing ceremony programs and menus?  If so, what should we put since there is no specific details of how the minister is going to do the ceremony.. also do you gals know if Nancy emails the menus to chose from?

There are two restaurants to choose from and they do email you copies of both menus.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
