We were at a wedding at the Tucan/Quetzal 3 years ago, and it's what inspired us to do a DW ourselves.

It was gorgeous - even though the trees were still damaged post hurricane - the ceremony was lovely, the beach was gorgeous. Dinner was at the steakhouse, and then we had 2hrs at the disco before it opened - perfect amount of time for dances, some private partying, and then when the disco opened, lots of people stayed, but the parents, kids, etc, all left.

She said of the 2 beaches on the property, the Tucan has been completely renovated and is great again, the second beach is still under construction but should be back to normal soon. She also sent along pictures of the beach taken at the end of may, so like 3 weeks ago.

I also have a slew of information about weddings at Iberostar Tucan that I will post later tonight when I get home. Iâ€m a little of a research mongol and Iâ€ve got hotel maps, wedding package pricing, rules and restrictions, etc.
Hi,
I'm so happy to have found this thread. I'm the the midst of deciding on a resort and Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal is one that I'm considering. I was also hesitant due to the beach erosion but after reading all the info on this thread, it sounds like everything is under control.

Would you be able to send me the some info that you have obtained, like hotel maps, wedding pricing, etc.

My TA wants me to talk to WC's myself but I like the fact that your TA communicated directly with the WC. Would you mind forwarding me the WC's name and email add. Do both Tucan and Quetzal share one WC?

Thanks very much. My email is [email protected]

Hi Iberostar Tucan/Quetzal Brides,

I thought I would start this thread up again. The Iberostar Brides Post Here thread is great however I didn't read much about Tucan/Quetzal in there.

I would love to know details about others plans. I am getting married Jan 2010 but am starting to get a little stressed about all the details. I feel like they nickel and dime you for everything and some of their onsite vendors are not very good.

I mainly have questions regarding the DJ and reception. This is a very important part of the wedding for my FI and when we started doing research on DW it seemed like it wouldn't be a problem however now I am having mixed feelings. I want to make sure we have a DJ that will do a good job and be there our entire reception. We are planning on having more than 50 guests and want to rent a restaurant for a private party. I was under the impression we would have a DJ from 6:30-10:30 but now the WC is saying the DJ will only be there from 8:30-10:30....anyone else having similar issues?

Sorry for the long thread...I am just looking for ideas and assurance on this resort.

Thanks!!!!

Hey everyone. I'm in the midst of deciding on a destination wedding location. The Iberostar Tucan is near the top of my list. I'm just worried about prices. Has anyone got any prices so far. We're looking for april 2010 but all the prices we've been quoted have been extremely high. Does anyone mind sharing what they paid? Thanks

Hi Everyone,

We have the our date reserved at the Tucan 1/30/10. We have been working with a local travel agent in our area (WI) and she does the funjet/apple packages, which we thought would be easier and most cost-effective for our guests. Prices just came out and are a little higher than we wanted our guests to have to pay; $1720 for a week out of Milwaukee. We asked her if she thought prices would drop and she said no and that we should lock in the prices now. I was reading another thread about 2010 pricing where other travel agents are telling people to wait to book b/c prices could drop. Does this price sound reasonable to others? I'm just wondering if we should shop around for a diff TA?

I've been in contact with the WC from the Tucan, Mayra, but she is no longer there b/c she has moved back home. The new WC, Gaby, isn't as quick with her responses, but seems nice so far.

We don't have a lot of our details figured out yet since we've just been focusing on figuring our travel prices for ourselves and guests.

Anyone have other suggestions/info about the Tucan? I am starting to get nervous that the prices may be too high for our guests, but don't want to have to start over with looking for another resort.

Thanks,

Amber

Hi Girls, I haven't been on in awhile and read the post about Mayra not being at Tucan any longer. Is anyone having issues with any details of their wedding they planned with Mayra that the new WC is not aware of? This makes me nervous.

Also, if someone would PM me the new WC email address that would be great.

Thanks so much!

I just got married down at the iberostars on the 14th. Originally it was planned for the quetzal but because of the swine flu scare they were low census. They moved us to the grand and had the wedding at the maya. It was wonderful! The wedding coordinator has changes as Mayra has gone back home to plan her own wedding. The new coordinator is Gabriela who is wonderful!! She used to be the coordinator at the Lindo and Maya. No worries. also the emial is the same.... hope this helps relieve your worries! =)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
