Reception dinner question

Recommended Posts

At Paradisus Punta Cana, that's what we did for the rehearsal dinner. We had to pick a fixed menu ahead of time ... but there was no charge to just have dinner, as long as you don't privatize the restaurant. That's a great money saver! We chose lobster as the entree, but knew some people didn't care for lobster. Those people were able to order steaks and pasta ... so don't worry if you have to pre-choose your meal. They were very accomodating.

I think it all depends upon the resort. We are planning to have the "semi-private" dinner that comes with our wedding package and we are expecting about the same amount of people as you are. They are not charging us extra for that. If we were to do the private dinner we would be charged per plate.

my hotel will section off a part of the resaurant for up to 20 people. We'll be a group of 25 so I hope that's fine. I've heard it shouldn't be a problem. I've heard they do the semi-private receptions great. Private waiter, decorations and all. I just can't see paying for food that's already paid for to have it private.

I would check with your resort. For example, I was told that they won't do a seated dinner for more than 20 guests. Our dinner at one of the restaurants is free and we will all sit in the same section, so it will be semi-private.

I didn't see the point in spending and extra $95 pp for food and alcohol. As a compromise, we are having private hors d'oeuvres after the wedding, before dinner, in the garden so our guests have something to do while we are taking pictures.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
