Dreams Cancun - Questions for those married here!

Recommended Posts

I'm am SO CONFUSED! What does everyone mean by signing a contract? Is that what I had signed when putting down our deposit for The Ultimate Wedding pkg.  our Date/time/Location etc? Would that mean that we fall into the Juan photo category? We booked our Wedding in February for our Wedding in October.. Is there more I need to be signing?  We are just having a simple ceremony with the cocktail hr, and Reception dinner. (Having a large reception when we get back) Should I be contacting Cecilia about signing another contract? Sorry If I sound like a Lameo..... I am just a bit confused on the whole thing.. Thank you

Hey girl, I think you are fine!  Usually putting the deposit down means signing your contact electronically.  So yes, I would think if you paid them by March 17th, you are in contract with them.   YAY Girls!  I'm so happy for you!!!!

Also, to anyone who has trouble with email, I have called a few times in these past months when I had questions.  They will answer in Spanish, but just say your coordinators name and they will transfer you.  Anyone having their wedding between June 15th and June 29th,  I will be there and would love to be a fly on the wall.

Hi,

I emailed Juan yesterday and got the response below.  Our wedding is October 29, 2011 and we signed our contract in mid-February.

Meghan,
I am no longer the official Dreams photographer therefore I do not shoot anymore the included packages of the Resort, Ultimate and Love packages.
Nevertheless, I am still a vendor for the hotel.
If I can be of further assistance, please, do not hesitate to contact me.
Best regards,
Juan Navarro
Photographer

We have hired wedding coordinators/travel agents (who are "Dreams Certified").  I emailed her this morning to see what she has to say.  She always seems to get a much quicker response from Claudia.  I can keep everyone posted.

Hey Girls,

I just talked to Cecilia (WC) yesterday and she told me that I would have to upgrade my photo package in order to have Juan as a photographer (although I signed prior to 3/17).  I believe all that was required for the upgrade was paying for one additional hour, which is $250 and then I would be able to get Juan as well as 50 additional pictures from the wedding.  Are others getting Juan without having to spend any additional $?  Uhhh, I hate having to fight for something that should already be included!

Ginny bride: Yes i have emailed claudia three times now to clarify about this because I am getting so many conflicting responses, but from both Juan and Claudia I get Juan or one of his team as my photographer without having to pay more. Now I don't know why this is happening to you. I would make sure every email is printed out though and brought to her on your wedding day

Hi,

Our wedding is October 29, 2011.  We have the Ultimate Package and paid our deposit mid-February.  This is the email I received from Juan:

Nevertheless, I am still a vendor for the hotel.
If I can be of further assistance, please, do not hesitate to contact me.

So, I am not sure what is going on.  I emailed the wedding coordinator that we are working with here in Chicago.  I asked her to contact Claudia ti see what is going on.  More to come hopefully...

I made sure that both of them confirmed Juan would be doing the photography, printed those emails, and put them in my "important stuff" binder. I wasn't told that I would have to upgrade but that an additional hour was optional. From what I understand, anyone who put their deposits in prior to March 17, 2011, will have Juan Navarro Photography. Everyone else after that date, will have Vallarta Photography.

I actually put my deposit down on 2/12; however, I do not have anything in writing regarding Juan b/c at the time that was a part of the package deal, so I did not confirm it.  At the time, I was just looking into dreams and didnt realize how great Juan was!  Eventhough I did book before 3/17, they are telling me that I have to upgrade in order to get Juan.  Not sure what is going on here!  GRRRR!!!!  I have not put up a big fight about it just yet, but why do they make things so difficult for us??

Not to get off topic of Juan, but what are most people doing for decorations?  For example center pieces on the tables.  Do most brides take decorations yourself, buy them down there, or let dreams handle them?  Or another idea I had were paper latterns.  What are some other ideas and easy to transport decorations?

Ginny bride: According to other brides its really expensive to get centerpieces through dreams inless thats in your budget. I am doing my own centerpieces and distributing them through my family to carry down. I also got my own chair bows and table runners from weddinglinensdirect.com they are great to deal with and are usually two day delivery and much cheaper then renting them through dreams.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
