Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Thanks JoLo908...It just seems silly to me that the guests can walk ten feet to get drinks from another bar...rather than us paying when they already have the all inclusive option...I think since its a dw as well...things can be done a bit different...I would like to take a look at the outside reception sites that you have!

jennyFTB- For our wedding, we told everyone that we'd be going to the lobby bar after we were done taking pictures if they wanted to meet us there before supper. Everyone did and it worked out great. No need to pay for the cocktails if you don't have to wink.gif

ETA: JoLo, is there any way you could post em on here for all to see? Even though my wedding is over, I'd like to take a look.

I am going to try to out up the pictures later when I figure out how to do it. They all look really nice for the outside food reception/ pool reception. Okay, I have a question, more of an opinion question.

We were thinking of doing the mixed grill for dinner by the pool, and then following it by the "dance, drink" reception by the pool with two hours with the DJ. During the dinner we would most likely just play our Ipod on our sound dock, but we thought this might be fun. So I guess in total, guest would be there for about 3-4 hours. Does this sound like a good idea? I love my friends, but they keep relating everything here to a wedding at home, so it is difficult to get good opinions... What do you guys think??

Joanna I think that would work out great. Using the iPod for the dinner and then the dj. We are considering our dinner reception to be about 4 hours also. We are still unsure if want to do the dinner and dancing outside or just the dancing.

Do you think it's cheesy to get the trio, is it better to just go with CDs? Thanks!
I don't have updated prices for the poolside reception, sorry. However I did have the Mexican Trio. I actually had requested (and paid for) the Mariachi... but the trio showed up. I had them play at my cocktail hour (in the Akumal Lobby Bar... free). And they were perfect. It really set the mood. But for the ceremony and the reception I just stuck with CDs.

Just as a warning... we wanted to do the Mixed Grill. 1. Because it didn't require 50 people. 2. because it was cheaper. however we were NOT allowed. they said that option is NOT for weddings and they won't do it. So make sure you confirm that with them before you get down there. it would be really disappointing to tell all of your guests you'll be eating under the stars and then not be able to.
As for the dance, drink by the pool... that's exactly what we did. The timeline is 7:30-10:30... 7:30-8:30 being the dinner.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
