As for flowers, I'm not a big fan. I had my bouquet made out of buttons, my bridesmaids carried parasols and the boutonnieres were made of feathers. If you want flowers I would find a picture of what you want and send it to your WC to see if it is possible to make there and what the extra cost might be, if any. The pictures that they have of flowers are quite outdated and IMO a little lackluster.

The only things I brought with me were hand fans and candy favours. All the other things were provided by the resort (chair sashes, flower petals, candles etc.)

Now for the ceremony. I'm pretty sure it was about 15 minutes long including signing everything. It wasn't really personal and there weren't an vows. The judge read a story about what marriage should be like, we put rings on and said "I do", signed and thumb printed, and it was done. I did bring my own written ceremony with me but Karla said what the judge had was really pretty so we went with that. I advise you to write your own and send it to your WC before hand so they can pass it along to the judge. You might even need to have it translated to spanish first.

Phew that was long winded. Hope I answered your questions. If you have any more just holla.
Hi Kiera!

Welcome home. Great pictures and it sounds like everything went great - minus the fall maybe. wink.gif

What kind of candles did they have? Like little tea lights or something? Did they rent them to you?

That's the only question I have for now.

Thanks for the awesome review Kiera!!

Just a couple questions for you or anyone that's had their wedding there...

What's the deal with the sparkling wine included in the ceremony package? Do you toast immediately following the ceremony or is that for later at dinner?

The Coba Music Bar... is this only available for those staying on the Coba side? I'm staying at Tulum and am not sure if this is even an option for me. Did you have to rent it out or just pay for the drinks/sound equipment?

Is the ceremony in spanish? Translater? Does it translate well?

One question: were you able to select a color for the chair sashes or do they only come in white?

Thanks!
I believe they just come in white. I didn't actually ask for them to use sashes but they did it as part of the set up.

They set up different sized pillar candles (white) around the cake table. It was pretty and again not something I knew about until I saw it all set up.

1. We didn't toast until dinner time. Our guests drank the sparkling wine while they watched us do the pictures and such.

2. I would think that you're not allowed to use the Coba Music Bar for your cocktail reception because it would be reserved for a bride that is staying in Coba. I'm sure if you ask your WC the indoor cocktail reception location she would be able to let you know. As far as cost goes, I only paid for the drinks and the sounds equipment.

3. The judge spoke in Spanish and Christian our WC's assistant translated for us. To be honest we weren't paying attention to what was being said. We just waited to say "I do" and that was that. lol.

Keira, congrats and thank you for all the info you have shared! Sounds like Karla did a great job for you, and that is good news for all of us who have Karla as our WC. I am leaving for the resort on Friday (Nov 13) for a week vacation with 5 girlfriends and am meeting with Karla on Saturday morning. I have some basic requests that I would like to sort out in person and then I will be happy and comfortable to continue the rest of the arrangements by email. This was not a planned "site visit" just a vacation with friends but luckily it just turned out that way in the end.

Keep the pictures coming and congrats again. You are a MRS!!!

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
