Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

CowtownBride.....being from Edmonton thought I would share. Two of us are using the same travel agent and we are both getting married at this resort, so Kelly knows what is going on and a few of the hiccups that have arisen. If you don't already have a travel agent, I would suggest calling her....she is really good and thorough and I know she has phoned and spoken with Paloma on our behalf a few times, so she has a good working relationship already built. Like I said, her name is Kelly and she owns Terra Travel....her number is 1-877-304-7226. Good luck and happy planning:)

Wendy and Mike congrats and hope you have a wonderful trip!

This is how our cermony went. I don't know how long everything took exactly but the whole thing only took about 20 min.

First they asked everyone if they agree with out marriage. The group says yes and it all begins.

The judge recites a story about love and marriage, all in Spanish. Then your WC will recite the same story in English. I wish I could tell you more but after listening to it all in Spanish we started tuning her out and didn't really listen to the English version. My MIL said that it was really pretty though. (time: approx. 10 min)

Then you do the exchanging of rings. Again in Spanish then English. This is piece by piece though so it was easier for us to pay attention. This is the bit where you say "I do". (time: approx. 5 min).

Next is when the bride and groom sign and then the 2 witnessess on either side. There are 3 pages that each person needs to sign. Once everyone has signed the bride and groom put their thumb prints on each page. Have no fear they give you a cloth so you don't get black ink all over your dress.(time: approx. 5 min).

After that you are pronounced husband and wife in Spanish then English....and you have your first married kiss. Yay!

IMO, it was the perfect length of time for the ceremony, I just wished I had paid more attention. I did bring a ceremony that I had put together myself but since it wasn't translated it was kind of brushed aside. :-( If I were to do it again, I would have sent the ceremony to the WC before hand so that it could have been translated and I could have had more of what I wanted.

I suppose it doesn't really matter though because in the end I'm still married to my special someone.

Thank you Keira! That was very detailed... I really appreciate it! I want to do a sand ceremony to include my daughter but I'm wondering at what point they'll sneak that in.

As for providing a ceremony to be translated ahead of time... I wasn't aware we can do that!? I would have no idea where to start so I guess I'll wait and see if I'm feeling ambitious as it gets closer :)

The WC told me to bring a CD of 5 songs for before/during/after ceremony. Did you do this? When was the music played during the ceremony?

SusieQ - did Jazmin say she was going to get that info to you? Less than a month away!!! That's exciting but I'm sure it's a little nerve-wracking seeing as how you're waiting on some info. Sorry to hear that sad.gif

I would try and do that after the story and the rings are done. Before you do the signing.

I'm not positive it's possible because I didn't try. I highly doubt they will say no though. If anything they should work with you on it. I searched forums here and found a few ceremonies of other girls and put them together to make my own. Much easier to do it that way.

I hired the guitar trio. They played for my guest while they waited for me, walking down the isle, and again after the ceremony. They were good and our guest enjoyed it.

Yeah she said she send it and I got in return a notice two days later saying she was goin on vacation until Jan something and that was two days before her holiday began.... I guess i should follow up with an email.... I'm very exited to be getting married in less than a month... I guess most of the pressure is off because i am going to be legally married in a few days... I just prefer to have the legal part done in canada.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
