I was just married there last wed. It takes a while for wedding coordinator to get back to you. But when she does it all comes together.

Dinner is semi private on one side of restaurant, food was amazing.

Prices aren't too bad. The above prices are what I paid. Plus extra 25/pp for the sunshine package and it was more then enough. We had 57 guests.

We did private reception worth the money. We paid for domestic bar. $30/pp plus DJ for 3 hours.

I also didn't like the gazebo we did the tulum beach location with awning it was beautiful. I did have the option of hammock location in akumal when I booked.

Congrats! Glad it went so well!

How did it work with the awning? Did they set you up in the sun and your guests under the awning so you didn't have the shade from the awning on you in the photos? I convinced them to let me use the Akumal Hammocks site for my ceremony because I don't want weird shadow patterns on all my photos.

We wernt under the awning but the time of day the sun was setting and on our camera phones there were shadows but on our professional pictures there wasn't. The location is actually elevated so it's a couple steps up to this platform with sand on it. In the pictures it looks like it's right on the beach so that was surprising. It was beautiful though.

I am getting married at the Coba and am having the poolside reception after the dinner.  Does anyone know if you can set up a photo booth or if there is a good area around the pool to have this set up?  I plan to use my own DSLR on a tripod for the photo booth and bring props.

You could use the hammock area.  I think that'd work out really well, actually.

The area on the right hand side of this picture is what I'm talking about: http://faberphotography.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Gran-Bahia-Principe-Coba-Destination-Wedding-v64.jpg

In the weddings I've photographed there, nobody has really used that area because it's small so not many guests can mingle up there, however for a photobooth that you wouldn't want knocked over or "in the way" I think it would work perfect!

I see just what you mean from that picture.  Do you think the lighting in that area would be sufficient or would something need to be set up?

Lighting in that area is not sufficient for anything but conversation, drinking, and dancing, quite frankly.  It's very much "mood" lighting, which is great for a reception... but for taking pictures!  Ha!  If you have a photographer they'll be able to set something up, otherwise you'd want a nice flash on your camera to try and bring enough light in the area.  What's nice is that area is surrounded by light colored walls and partial ceiling.  That'll help bounce flash lighting so that your subjects are properly illuminated.

Good afternoon ladies!  I have added some new photos to my photo tours:

But the big new addition is all the pictures of the new Tulum wedding location!

I have updated the page in this thread, but here are the new pictures:

Hi all!

I got engaged in February and my fiancé suggested we have our destination at the Bahia Principe Akumal in the Mayan Riveria because that's where he was vacationing when we decided to start dating 9 years ago. We visited the resort two weeks ago (for our 9 year anniversary) so that I could have a look at the resort and decide if it was the place to host our wedding.

I loved it! I found it beautiful and I can't wait to start planning. We met with a wedding coordinator and she mentioned that we needed to fill out a wedding application. I've searched all over the website to find the application was unable to find it. Can anyone help me out?

Thanks in advance and thanks for having this forum, it's super helpful.
