Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

Although I am unsure about the spa and photographer, the times we've been to Mexico we've found negotiating for excursions and shopping is best in Pesos. A Mexican friend told me that when Mexicans have to exchange USD they are charged a tax, so having it directly in Pesos means they can use the money right away without any charges.

I'm getting married in 2 weeks at the akumal hammock location! Getting very excited...

Im canadian and am going to get USD to take with me, I'm just wondering if anyone knows  if the spa, photographer and most excursion tours accept visa? I'd like to bring down as little $ as possible..

Also I have the Portifino booked for 5:30 and the jacuzzi pool at 7:30 for the poolside party, I know a few of you have had a similar layout so I'm just wondering is two hours too long for dinner? Or will this flow smoothly?

Thanks!

I  mentioned it to my WC, I just said that a good friend of our was a photog and would be taking pictures for us.

She didn't really say anthing about other than, the resort photographers were great or something along those lines. I received one email from arrecife  with their packages and pricing and haven't heard anything else from them and that was in August when we secured our date.

The reason I ask is I keep getting emails from them...

Thanks,

Jill

I paid for the spa and our excursions with credit card.  It's a lovely thing actually, because the exchange rate is really bad at the resort compared to the credit card companies.  For instance, the safe fee was $20, but I said I wanted to pay with credit card, not cash.  It was $14.63 on my credit card bill.  That was nice!

Honestly, yes, 2 hours is too long.  Or at least it was for Cheryl's wedding.  1 1/2 is way better.  UNLESS you have cake cutting in the restaurant and a lot of toasts or something.  Otherwise everyone sat around for at least a half an hour after they were done eating.

Gazebo it is!  Congrats!  I think you'll be much happier with the 4pm time and now you'll be able to take some great photos!

Just get the free photos included in your package then they don't ask questions! I brought my own photographer and had arrecife do their thing. They were there JUST for the ceremony and I picked 10 free.

Hi brides, so my wedding is fast approaching 16th April 2012 4pm at the akumal beach location, we travel on 10th April and we have got 49 guests coming with us for 2 weeks.

We are having the resort photographer, ceremony at 4 ( We have 4 bridesmaids, 2 flower girls, 2 ushers, best man etc...) followed by 45 min saxophonist and a toast, I was hoping after this the guests could go to the akumal lobby for drinks whilst we have photos done????? Our wedding meal is in the dolce a vita which is where we will have the speeches and we are having the cocktail party with 3 hrs dj set, i have decided to go for the basic bar package and hopefully we will be lucky and get a full stocked bar, our guests all love a good drink and party so should be a great day/ night.

Can any of you recommend anything else to make the day special?????

can anyone tell me what the Mayan ceremony and how much it costs???

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
