Gran Bahia Principe Akumal/Tulum/Coba - POST HERE!

Recommended Posts

We kinda did... but we did them on our own - not through the tour operators. We would walk to the main road and catch a collectivo to wherever we wanted to go. We went to Xel Ha, Xcaret, Tulum Ruins, Tulum, Akumal (reallllly good snorkelling - especially if you want to see turtles - and eat at Lucy's Tacos, mmmmm!), and Shopping in Playa.

Oh, we did go on a snorkelling excursion through the resort - they brought us to Akumal Bay by boat. It was cool but we did it again on our own another day and it was cheaper and we stayed for the whole day.

If you have to choose between Xel Ha and Xcaret, my vote is for Xel Ha (and go for the whole day - you'll need it). And Xel Ha is cheaper too so that's a bonus.

A few from our group did book excursions with the resort (Coba Ruins, Ziplining, and ATV tour). I'm pretty sure they liked them.

well, i´m still here... but we did the xelha and i would totally recommend that. we swam with the dolphins there and it was amazing.

we also tried to take ttd pictures at the ruins and it did NOT work... but we went to the public beach just down the road and i would highly recommend that for a day trip. they have beds you can use for the day and all kinds of activities... plus it´s just gorgeous!!!

in regards to the private reception... it´s 46 per person plus the cost of alcohol per person ON TOP of the normal wedding package. however it was SO worth every single penny! everyone thought the food was ammazing and the reception was too. it was so awesome and i wish i could do it over and over and over and over!!!!!

Hi there,

We just returned from Mexico, and got married on April 4th.

We stayed at the Gran Bahia Principe Tulum from March 30-April 4 and the El Dorado Royal from April 6-13.

If you have any questions please do not hesitate.

All I can say is that is was absolutely fantastic. The hotel was aweomse, our wedding coordinator Jazmin was superb and so was our photograpger D!no.

I would not change a thing.

I hope I can help as much as you all did for me.

:)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
