Hi aimesmiles,

I am from Houston and I just booked the hotel on expedia.com.  They are having a really good Paradise Sale right now, $133 USD/night for Tulum and $117 USD/night for Coba.

Paloma hasn't confirmed my date or wedding location yet, so I'm not sure.  But I have read on this forum that you should be staying at the hotel where you want to have the wedding.

Hi aimesmiles,

I tried to respond to your post, but my post got rejected. lol  I think because I mentioned that I used ex.pedia to book my hotel, they are having a s.ale now.  Anyway, I'm from Houston and I'm planning on staying at Tulum.  The Wedding Coordinator hasn't confirmed our wedding date or site yet.

Hi Amie,

My wedding is booked for 2nd June 2011 - Tulum & I am from the  UK.......the most stressful time was looking around all the different travel agents trying to get prices.  I bounced each ones price off of the other until eventually got the best price from Cooperative Travel, who booked through First Choice.  With them you just book the Gran Bahia Principe Resort state which wedding location you want......the wedding coordinator in resort then allocates you to whichever part of the resort it is....in my case I am booked into Tulum as I wanted the Gazebo.  I have emailed Jazmin my full guest list....46 of us...& she is going to do her best to get us all on the Tulum side however it wouldn't be major if some guests were in Coba or Akumal.

It is true that you have to be staying at the side you want to get married in Gazebo is Tulum, Beach Hammocks is Akumal & you can have either of the wedding locations if you stay at Coba but you do have to bare in mind with Coba that if you wanted a specific date & time of your wedding say at Tulum, & a bride actually staying in Tulum wanted that same date & time they would get preference over you staying at Coba.....hope I haven't confused you......lol

Any other info feel free to pm me, I have asked a million questions since we booked 7 months ago!!......p.s welcome to the forum I would be absolutely lost without it!! :)

Hi Waybuloo,

Had a bit of a nightmare day (this is gonna be a long one lol).......i've been in touch with Paloma Flores, First Choice and Thomas cook and this is what i found out...

... Thomas Cook do Tulum and Coba and the wedding package we what (at more than the hotel charge) but we don't wanna travel with them, didn't like them before and you don't get much baggage plus they can't guarantee us Tulum it's decided when you arrive.

First Choice use Akumal for accomodation but they're wedding package is terrible the unforgettable package(£1400ish) is for just us no guests, they are extra. which i cannot comprehend!

So We are booking the wedding direct with the hotel for (£1150) this is for unforgettable and unlimited guest as long as they're staying at GBP and Paloma has been amazing trying to get us into tulum for the date we requested! she is looking into getting us into tulum!!!

what package have you gone for if you don't mind me asking and what extra's we're hopefully having the meal in the Tequilla restaurant then a DJ maybe by the pool or beach!!

Yay! They finally confirmed our wedding date for June 11, 2011 at Gran Bahia Principe Tulum.  Now I just need to decide if I want the gazebo or the palapas location.

I think the gazebo is beautiful, but I also want to be able to see the beach in the wedding photos.  I know that we can take beach photos after, but it would be nice to see the beach in the background as we are saying "I Do".  I read the thread by DelSol about how natural lighting under gazebos makes its more difficult to get good pictures. http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/60132/the-gazebo-thread/10  So my understanding was that if you use a gazebo, stand near the edge, have the attendants and guests outside the gazebo.  Pictures are really important to me, so I want to select the location and time of day to look the best.

Christi: Here are the pics of the gazebos I´m going to choose from. You can see the beach in the background so I thought you would like them.

Just wondering if anyone has received any quotes on prices for a poolside reception after the dinner?  The only price we were quoted is $845 and apparently that includes everything from drinks to stereo equipment and microphones however no DJ I believe.  It seems there is no set price for the poolside reception and that people are paying a different range of prices.  Thanks....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
