Swankster or KRama,

We are debating if we should get appetizers served halfway through the cocktail reception.  I know we are going to the reception straight from dinner, but we don't want our guests getting hungry during the cocktail party....  What do you think?

thaodao You sound like a vendor too!. Why don't you just fly somebody in that makes your pictures and that's It?. You're not helping us adding more stress to us because this issue. Take a look to Waybuloo's last post about arrecifes and swankster77, and jenster_04. Watching their examples and reading the reviewes from brides that used them for me is enough to trust them. Forget about these guys and continue planning your big day in peace.

Ok. Ladies, so I think we'll ask for a poolside reception too. Thanks Jennster_04 for your post. It's very helpful.

So, thaodao, talking about Dj, do you have information about Bob?, Could you please send me info to [email protected] ?

I would like to know how's the resort Dj. I just have to make a desition about this.

As far as losing business, a few of my friends are looking around for a resort for their DW.  Up until this time, GBP was top on their list.  Unfortunately, due to the inflexible demands of Arrecife, they all decided not to use GBP.  They are all coming to our wedding, so they can judge for themselves on the services provided.   Word does travel fast- the internet is a powerful tool and we are at the age where everyone we know is getting married.  This can't be good for GBP's business.

On a side note, we have Eugenia as our wedding coordinator and she is awesome!

gaby@rivieramaya,

Who would I be a vendor for?  I am simply upset the GBP sent me a document saying the Arrecife's services are optional.  Now I find out less than 3 months to the wedding that I must use them.  I think that fault lies within GBP.  If they have a contract with Arrecife,

they should let the couple know when they book their wedding.  It is not only professional to do this, but common courtesy.

Also gaby@rivieramaya, considering how important this day is to us and the amount of negative feedback on Arrecife on numerous forums, why are you minimizing other people's concerns?  This is the most important day of your life.  If you had a concern , no matter how small, it would be legitimate.

Sarah00, we're getting married on the beach.  I have pics of this if you need.  Gaby, DJ bob's email is [email protected].

gaby@rivieramaya,

Everyone of your post is defending/praising Arrecife.  Could it be that you work for them?  I noticed your post is criticizing someone who questions Arrecifeâ€s services.  Also, who would I be a vendor for?  And why would a vendor in Mexico's screen name be thaodao.  This is obviously a Vietnamese name.

I am simply upset that GBP sent me a document that stated Arrecife's services are optional, then less than 3 months to my wedding; I find out that I must use them.  I feel that GBP should let me know about this policy when I booked in January 2010.  Not only would this be professional, but is common courtesy.  This is the most important day of our lives and considering all the negative feedback that Arrecife has received in numerous forums, I think my concerns are warranted.  Being a soon-to-be bride yourself, why would you dismiss another brideâ€s concern?

Sarah, I have pics of the beach if you need and gaby@rivieramaya,  DJ Bobâ€s email is [email protected].  I wish you all the best.

Thaodao - do you mean AFTER dinner or BEFORE? This is my opinion... our wedding was at 4 and over and done with by 5... everyone headed to the Tulum lobby bar to have some drinks while we had photos done... by the time we got to join them it was 6 and we had to start heading over to dinner (Tortuga) immediately... where we got to eat almost right away. So i don't think there is much time for snacking before dinner. As for after dinner... everyone was SO stuffed from dinner that no one even thought about food. In addition - our reception was literally right next to the snack bar where people can order food 24 hours a day. if anyone was hungry they had easy & quick access to FREE food (if you order apps I'm sure you have to pay for them, right?)

Trust me on this! If you pick the gazebo you will still get all full of sand after the wedding when you take pictures! We all had to take our shoes off for pics and not only that Nestor had my sweaty self laying in the sand in my dress! And it had just rained earlier! I was worried about getting dirty but he kept reassuring me it would brush right off when it dried and he was absolutely right! once the sand dried it brushed off with little effort. So don't let that sway your decision - you will be in the sand with either option :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
