As for makeup, yes, I got my makeup done there. i DON'T wear makeup, but I knew that for pictures I needed it. So I sucked it up. I had a picture with me, as did my sister. We laughed pretty hard because neither of our pictures looked anything alike... but she applied the same makeup the same way! LOL!! We both looked very pretty, I thought. But, I didn't let her put eye liner on me (as a non wedding wearer, that's just too much for me), and I brought my OWN mascara... cause that's gross.
well at least you liked your makeup! i'm actually allergic to something in makeup sponges so i will have to bring my own brushes with me so i don't have a reaction that day, and for sure bring my own mascara. for years i thought i was allergic to something in makeup that's why i barely wear any. i wonder if any of my friends coming could do my makeup? maybe i'll ask around.

i'm still undecided about the makeup. i think i might get a trial done here first so i have something in mind at least, or maybe attempt it myself. that's what i'm going to do about my hair. how bad can it be right?! haha...
At the Portifino salad bar there was many types of salad, smoked salmon with cream cheese, different shell fish, pizzas, grilled veggies, lots of anti pasta dishes. breads dipps ect. There is tons of food and yummy...
I didn't have my wedding there I had mine at Gran Tortoga because I stayed in the Tulum section. The night I went to the Portifino there was 12 of us which was my family and my husbands family. It was two nights before our wedding. I really liked the classy look of the Portifino, most of our group visited it before they left and totally loved it. I had a group of 23 people.

Good luck
ps don't worry to much I know once you get face to face with your WC things iron out really quickly. They do about 5 to 8 weddings a week, not likely you'll have a request they haven't experienced yet. foshizzle.bmp

Did anyone get a chance to do a rehearsal before the actual day?
No rehearsals.. I asked too... They have eveything down to an exact science. The WC has everything step by step and has everyone in place to pull it off... They use two way radios to keep everyone on task.

One thing I will mention they follow a very strick ceremony and it is the only one they use, you do get to say your own written vows after you have repeated theirs scripted vows. Ours sounded kinda silly because we said the ring commitment twice... I don't care I am married and it was amazing lol... You won't either!!!!foshizzle.bmp

again if you have questions fire away

We are having our dinner at Portofino as well. We have heard good things. A friend just got married in January, staying at the Coba section, and had her wedding dinner at Portofino. She said the food was really yummy. No concerns here!

Hi! I have a little silly question for those who have been to the resort. Is there a Karaoke bar or some sort? My girlfriend was asking me this question, I think she is trying to plan a bachelorette party for me down there~

ok i think i'll choose the portifino...it sounds like even the salad bar has enough to choose from food wise for our guests. thanks again for letting me know.

i'm not really worried about plans, karla is the one who sent me an email on friday asking me to give her all the details on which restaurant, how many guests etc. i was looking forward to just deciding when we get there, but she said they need to know this far in advance.

FI was really hoping to have it at gran toruga but i guess we'll just eat there another day on the trip.

disco at the Hacienda opens at 12.30 and there are live bands several evenings at the Hacienda just before the disco opens and off course the bar is open there and it is all inclusive....

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
