Ever meet someone famous?

I've seen a couple famous people from afar (Demi Moore, Mary Lou Retton, Bruce Willis--all at the same event at the Olympics), and I was in a Disney World TV commerical when I was little with the TV Cosby Family (minus Bill); but I was pretty young and I don't really remember if they were nice or not. I did meet David Arquette when I was in high school; I saw him at a concert (he was a guest, not performing), and my friend literally pushed me into him on purpose so I could meet him. He was really nice and kissed my hand. I was like 16 so I couldn't do much more than blush and stutter, but he seemed really nice!

BTW; what a fun thread! And, wow, stotz, how did you meet so many famous people?

I happen to have met a good number of famous people - it's all about what "famous" means wink.gif

The most famous person I met is probably Nicolas Sarkozy, the current French president. I met him about 15 years ago, when he was the mayor of Neuilly sur Seine, he married one of my friends - when I say he married, I means, he officiated ! In France the legal wedding is in the TownHall, not in Court, and the mayor or townhall officials are the officiants.

I also met with the former President, Jacques Chirac, also when he was the mayor of Paris. I was singing in a choir and we gave a concert in the Paris Townhall.

With the same choir, I also met with Johnny Halliday. He's a famous French rock singer, I think he's a little bit known in the US (I saw him 2 weeks ago as a jury in charm school, lol). Well, he needed some chorists for a TV show, and I was lucky to be picked (we were doing random selections amongst the volunteers). I was very impressed, strangely, I did not expect to be impressed but he really has something impressive. I asked for autographs and a picture (my mom has been a big fan since she was 15, I wanted this for her !!).

Other than this, all the other famous people that I met are salsa musicians. You might not know them - to know them you have to know salsa music... but if you know salsa music, you know them !! I happen to have been really into salsa, enough to not only dance but also sing, and I did not miss one concert when I could... One thing after another, you meet one guy, then two, then the next concert one of them introduces you to the third one... etc. I have pics with people like Ray Barretto (the summer before he died), Johnny Pacheco, Roberto Roena, Jose Alberto El Canario, the singers from El Gran Combo, all the members from Spanish Harlem Orchestra, etc. I have spent some time (dinners, drinks, etc) with Jimmy Bosch, Frankie Vazquez, Ray de la Paz... In fact, all the salsa musicians are super cool guys. So if you want to know them you just go and talk to them, and most of the time it's easy because the dancers are more interested in dancing and meeting the other dancers... so you don't have to fight ! I guess it's not the same for actors !

I have met a few famous people... My opinion is a lot of them were douche bags, but some were really cool... Molly Shannon from SNL was SO sweet... but funny story... I told off the lead singer of Maroon 5 on my 21st bday...

They were playing at my college stadium the following night, and they were at the bar for karaoke that we went to... needless to say I was downing LITs all night, and we were hanging out with their crew, and I walked up to the guy Adam and was like

"It's my birthday! It's my birthday!" and he was really snotty and standoffish to everyone so I yelled at him..."Well, guess what? I bought U2 tickets at MSG instead of your concert cause their a lot cooler than you, Bono's the sh%&!" My friends were ready to die... and the rest of the band was cracking up... The other part that made the night was that I sang karaoke and the band members, sans Adam, really loved it!!! It made my night... I swear it was the alcohol talking.... but he is no Bono lolol

I used to work for the airlines so I met a few people that way. I think its kind of funny with all the hype about "celebrities" I've found that there are quit a few that think pretty highly of themselves, and no one wants to be around them. jamie lee curtis is a BITCH!!!! She would always come through the airport all drunk and high and was just a raunch!. We used to mess w/ her and if anyone saw her have a drink we would reschedule her flight and tell her she was too intoxicated to fly just to get back at her for being so rude to EVERYONE!!!! I met Stevie Wonder, Brad Pitt owns property here. They are both very nice. Andie McDowell lives in Missoula, and she a raging bitch! We used to pretend that her bags didn't come in and would have them delivered the next day cause she was so rude. I used to date a pro skateboarder (who I'm still very good friends w/) but i met ALOT of people through him. Bam, tony hawk, several skaters that you probably don't know, Rob & big.

And of course my fav hockey player Matt Cooke, used to play for the canucks, but now plays for the penguins

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
