When did you cut you cake...

Recommended Posts

We had dinner between 6:00PM and 8:00PM. We cut the cake at 9:30PM, but only because we did fireworks with it. My WC had everyone do a countdown for the cake cutting. They said, "3-2-1" and when the fireworks went off, just as we cut the first piece of cake.

And we played "Pour Some Sugar on Me" by Def Leppard in the background.

We are actually going to have cake and HD's before dinner. With the time of our reception and our dinner location, this will be the easiest thing to do.

We are going to do group photos, etc outside so I want the guests to have something to do while all of this is going on. So, HD's and cocktails in the garden! We are doing the "semi-private" dinner because it is free. Our other option was a seated meal at $100+ per person. I figure we should make toasts and cut the cake while we are private.

I still haven't decided if I want the guests to eat the cake there or take it back to the kitchen and have it served later.

This is exactly what I am thinking...come back from the beach photos to the end of cocktail hour and do our first dance then cut the cake so that we get it done before the photographer leaves and then sit down to dinner...that way after dinner we have salsa dancers and then just dance! :)

I think it definitely depends on if your photographer is staying for the whole event... if not, then most people cut the cake and do toasts before dinner. Our photographer was with us for the weekend, so we just let the night flow naturely. We ate, did toasts, and then cut the cake.

How awful that I can't recall! I'll have to watch the video...lol I *think* we had dinner and did some dancing before the cake cutting....but I just don't remember. There wasn't a special song just whatever was playing already. I guess that means it's not a big deal so I say do it when you want :)

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
