Mashed Potatoes ... any yummy twists?

Jill! lol! you too It's like when you meet someone every once in a while who doesn't like chocloate or ice cream. It's difficult to fathom. Yep we pretty much onlu have baked, boiled,or roasted potatoes in Casa Lambert. It's ok. He's worth it.

LOL, yep me too! I can't fathom anyone not liking chocolate and ice cream though, I could live on those two foods alone! Luckily hailey really likes baked potatoes too, so she's happy with those.

Being a true irish girl mashed potatos are my comfort food. All of the yummy recipes sound great, I have done alot of them and I am going to try the rest in the coming weeks. I thought I would share a couple of ideas that I do. When I have a crowd (no I don't mean my kids) I put my mp's in a baking dish and nicely brown in the oven, they are so good, and stay hot forever. The other thing I thought I would share is what we do with left over mp's, I fry them with salsa, my kids love them this way, they are best when they get good and crispy:)

I love making different types of mashed potatoes. I don't like them creamy tho---- more chunky mashed potatoes.

 

* smash up some red baking potatoes, add some diced ham steak, mushrooms, and some gryuere cheese. this one is my favorite!

 

* twice baked using sour cream, cheddar and shrimp

 

* sweet potatoes, rum and mint

 

* my dad has a sweet potato recipe that is the most amazing thing I've ever had. I'll have to dig it out... I just remember it having ribbons of brown sugar thru it, with a streussel topping. mmmm..... my dad was an amazing cook!

I generally make our "everyday" mashed potaotes with cream cheese & a small bit of butter......mmmmmm.

 

I agree with the earlier post about wasabi mashed. Unfortunately, my FI doesn't care for as much wasabi as I do, so I rarely make that anymore.

I know this thread is a bit older, but I thought I'd throw an idea out there as well. A lot of you mentioned cheese and garlic, but I like to do parmesan cheese and dill, for a bit of a tangier taste. Very yummy!
