Everyone,

Since saying yes to my FI, I've thought of nothing else but making my wedding stationary myself. Even my FI wants us to make them. I'm almost done with all the designs and am ready to print my STD's, so I decided to go visit Staples last night to check out their printing services. Now after seeing a project they put together for their wedding services, I'm worried that my DIY's are going to look cheap and unprofessional. The example they had on display, just did not look right. I left there on the brink of tears and have been in a state of panic ever since.

For those that have done their DIY projects, please give me some reassurances that my printed projects will come out beautiful. I'm open to any suggestions, anything that you think would help.

To add to the rest of my anxiety, my future MIL is on my case about everything where the wedding is concerned and the last thing I want to deal with is negativity from her about the way the invitations, etc. look. Am I just being overly sensitive about this? I haven't said anything to my FI or BM's, so thanks for letting me vent. I really appreciate the forum for this.

I think I need a DRINK. shots.gif

Jamie.

I loved making mine - I love the way they came out, I love the fact that I did them and knew that they would be unique in the world.

I think you'll find that it will be more special to have made them yourself than to have purchased something.

Chin up. Be proud of your creativity! And tell your FMIL to go pound sand!

Now I did not do my own invitations but I did do my save the dates. But that's what I do, I'm a photographer with a graphic design background. I wouldn't worry about it, do you like the way they turned out? Because that's all that really matters. Can you post a picture of them maybe we can help you out....

Keep your chin up!

YOu will be fine! Yes, post a proof of what you've got so far and we are always happy to provide feedback.

I did my own STD's and invitations ... among other things ... and I am exceptionally pleased with how they turned out -- mainly because they are unique and have my personal touches (even FH helped cut/paste/assemble) ... and EVERYONE has loved them.

Deep breath sister .... you'll be amazed at how great your DIY projects turn out after being on BDW!!!

We are making our own invitations etc... We're in the process of finding the paper and we have a few options for printers. I wouldn't necessarily use staples as the printer. Try one that's not a chain and that perhaps specializes in custom print jobs. You can find the paper at different papery stores around Toronto and if you buy in large quanitities you might even get a deal. Having the right paper, and the right print job makes all the difference. I'm sure that your design is beautiful, you just have to find the right place to implement your vision. Have you considered thermography printing?

I'm sure they are much better than you think you know.

And for the FMIL stand your ground now otherwise it will just get worse. Tell her unless she has anything nice or helpful to say to ram it lol works for me she never rings me now lmao

Hugs it'll be fine x

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
