It took about an hour. I still need to fill in with the tiny 2mm ones. Unless you stare at it you can't see where the holes are, but I can so...
I started at the bottom corner and just filled in. The blue stones were really randomly placed as I went along. THe good thing about the glue was that it stayed wet for a little while so I could move things around if I didn't like them. I'd say work on a flat surface with some kind of paper underneath you and have a pair of tweezers handy. I just poured everything out in front of me and went for it with no plan! LOL! I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out!

I think it depends on what look you are going for. The smaller crystals will look more uniform, but will take much longer. If you go with the bigger ones (anything 8mm or larger) I think will it will still look really nice, its just that you will be able to see the individual crystals more. So if you do larger you definitely want to make sure that the lines you create are straight.
