Please stop my restless legs!!!

Recommended Posts

i have rls and i'm not sure, but it may be the result of the anti-depressants that i'm currently taking. i HATE when it kicks in (no pun intended) in the car, but i actually put a bar of soap under my sheets, and i don't experience the feeling anymore when i'm in bed.

my mom told me about the 'remedy' - any brand of soap, still wrapped up, placed under your fitted sheet down near your toes. it works - for me, at least!

there was a thread on here somewhere, and i believe it was started by jaimelynn...it may have been deleted ...... i'll go search for it.

UPDATE: must have been deleted...sorry!

Mine definitely increases when I'm tired and occurs a lot after working a 12h shift. Sometimes, they bug me while I'm sitting down if I'm on night shift. The compression hose didn't make a noticeable difference. I just have to get up and walk a little. Or if I'm home, I take some ibuprofen and go to bed. The cool sheets help and I'm able to go to sleep. It just feels like my feet and ankles are overstimulated. My chiro recommended taking magnesium supplements. I am inconsistent with any vitamin or supplement taking so, who knows?

I saw you posted so I came to see if you mentioned Elmo again. Still makes me laugh.

My fiancee suffers from RLS of which seems to be worse during the night. Sometimes its so bad it keeps him up all night - and me where he's constantly figeting. The only thing that seems to help is if he puts pressure on his legs. He finds wearing compression socks sometimes help whilst on other occassions nothing dulls the feelings.

Might suggest these ideas to him though, so hopefully we can both get a good nights sleep!!

Yup, I started a post about this awhile back. I've suffered off and on my entire life with RLS. I can think back to childhood when I had those itchy, creepy feelings in my legs. I couldn't sleep and couldn't sit through movies at the movie theater. People told me it was growing pains. Little did I (or they) know it was actually something called Restless Leg Syndrome.

I tried taking Requip but had side effects that I couldn't handle (very dizzy, nauseous, etc.). You might try yoga and see if this helps. It really depends on how severe your symptoms are. For me warm baths and mild exercise did not work. I finally got to a breaking point one day at school and broke down sobbing in the school doc's office. I had no idea at the time what was going on with me - only that I couldn't sleep, couldn't sit still in class or while driving. It was taking over my life.

Try Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation. They have excellent resources and both homeopathic and drug related treatment options on there as well as links to support groups.

Every once in awhile this will start to creep up on me again. I really notice a correlation with stress.

I wish you the best and I definitely understand. I know it's so hard trying to explain what you're feeling to people. Good luck!!!!

P.S. I tried the soap thing and it never worked for me. Probably works more for mild to moderate symptoms...

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
