Hello! I've booked my group travel with the flightcentre for $1571.00 taxes included, flying out of Ottawa on April 18-25. Shortly after I booked my 17 member group the gas surcharges went up. I would be surprised if you could find prices in the $1500 for Feb (high season). It took me a while to find a reasonable price for my group. I called every travel agency I could think of. Good luck and let me know if you need anymore info.

I am going through DestinationWeddings.com for May 19 - 26 2009 at the Paradisus ...my quote was 2470.00 incl taxes and transfers for two people. Air fair is 449 through American right now. So it is coming out to be 1684 per person or 3,368.00 per couple.

A lot of people are giving me trouble for it. Saying it is outrageous....is it outrageous? I thought for such a nice hotel and it is all inclusive and it includes transfers that it wasn't that bad. I feel like saying to them...then don't go for a week...go for a few days...it is over memorial day weekend...so it is a long weekend....they could go for a few days. They are driving me mental. shots.gif

I'm also from Ottawa and ended up booking with Lisa from Marlin Travel on Richmond Rd. She was at the bridal fairs, so I'm wondering if you O-town girls met her. She is super busy, but specializes in DW so it was worth it for me. She also requested a 100 deposit for the first consult, but when I went in and met her, I knew exactly what I did and didn't want as far as amenities etc. I didn't know where I wanted to go yet, but she helped guide me. At the end of the meeting, she didn't end up charging me the $100 (which by the way goes towards the trip if you book, but it covers her cost if you take her research and book elsewhere).

Because I knew what I wanted, it was a quick, no fuss meeting so she didn't charge me.

Our group rate is $1665 per person from the week of January 24, taxes included. When 21 people booked, one of us is free, when 43 people booked both of us are free. We now have the 43 people we need and so both of us are going for free. She was even able to upgrade us from the original hotel where we were booked to a better one for the same price!

Originally we wanted Feb, but prices go up in Feb and March and start going back down after that b/c of spring break etc.

Hope everyone is having good luck with their TA's. Even though Lisa is busy, she has been so helpful, patient and knowledgable. So far, very positive!

I've learned through this that you cannot please everyone all the time. When we booked our DW we made sure that our parents, siblings, MOH & BM could make it...after that everyone else was a bonus! I'd LOVE to have all my family & friends there...but you have to do what YOU want to do. It's YOUR wedding after all!!!
In my opinion it sounds like a great deal!! I'm going to the RIU Bachata in Puerta Plata and paying 1514 (taxes inc.) pp from Toronto. 1684 for a Paradisus sounds great!

Good luck...

For a whole week?? That's a steal of a deal, IMHO.

Here are our prices (from April 2008, mind you, and I secured these rates in June 2007).

For PPC, our double occupancy rate for 3-nights was $559/pp ... plus $179/pp for each additional night -- which would make it $1275/pp for 7-nights, plus airfare, which has ranged from $200-$700 depending on when our guests booked it.

And that's the THREE nights - your guests are getting a rate almost comparable to what we paid for 3 nights - and able to stay a week.

Tell them to shut up. muscle.gif

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
