Dreams Punta Cana Brides

Hey ladies, hope everyone had a wonderful new years.

I do agree the review is a bit discouraging, however I'm going to just roll with it and hope for the best. I think most resorts have some room problems unless its brand new. I even been to hotels here in the US that were 5 star rated and the rooms were not the best. The main reson for us to go there is too celebrate our wedings and have a good time with friends and family. all the reviews I have read for alot of the resorts in DR had some sort of room problems other than the new resorts like the Moon Palace, the Iberstar hotels but they are alot newer than DPC. I don't plan on being in my room alot anyways and if its a bad room I will have them switch us. I also requested that all our immediate family be placed in the same building.

Toya - you said that perfectly!!

There are some things that are out of our control and right now the resort is one of them!!

I have a question for everyone regarding ceremony music...

Are you having a CD of songs for your guests to listen to prior to the brides arrival? Or are you just having a song to walk down the isle to...and then one to walk back up the isle perhaps?

I'm starting to worry about the silliest of things!

Thanks!!

Hi girls!! I haven't been on here in quite some time but I have been reading all the posts. I too am a little concerned about the recent review of the resort. We are getting married on March 13, 2010, and I am a little nervous! We should have about 50 people coming with us for the wedding and I will be so upset if we have any kind of horror stories. I would also like to know what rooms have been renovated and which rooms to stay away from. I also wanted to know how the resort handled the problems. Were they more than helpful to switch rooms? Did they disregard the problems or did they go out of their way to make it right?

I am about 67 days away from the wedding and I am a little concerned!!!

Thanks!

Amy

Mmm that's a gret question. I think that if you are going to pay for the sound system you should have some nice background music for the guests before your arrival and have the WC or dj change it for your entrance...

Maybe some nice Caribbean music, or any time of music that goes with your wedding style... WOW you are gettinggg marry in 20 days!!!! congratsssss and I can't wait to read your review and comments!

Best of luck andI wish you a great future together!!!!

Crap,

that's another thing I hadn't thought of.. we are bringing an ipod with music on it for the reception, but I really hadn't given any thought to while guests are waiting before the ceremony... put it on the never ending list i guess...

only a week and a half before we leave this snow and bitter cold!! can't wait...

Finally had my dress fitting on Sat, only needed to add cups to the boob part cuz I thought you could see some of the boning and I would poke someone's eye out!

I am trying to make a list of all that needs to be done and it just keeps getting bigger!

I haven't been on the forum in a couple weeks and just got caught up........I'm not going to be discouraged about the resort, I'm leaving for Punta Cana in 5 days and getting married in 7 days.......I don't want to add "worrying" to my long list of things to do before we leave. I spent alot of time researching before I chose Dreams and I'm still happy that's where we've chosen to get married ;o)

It's what you make of it and I was already going to request to see my room before checking in. I suggest that you let all your guests know to request the same and there hopefully won't be any major disappointments.

Congrats to all the brides, this is such an exciting time for all of us! I'm sure that our wedding days will exceed all expectations!

I'll post my experience as soon as I'm back home in a couple weeks and hopefully I can give you all some peace of mind.

Hi Girls!

I am sorry... my intentions were not to discourage you. Dreams Punta Cana is a gorgeous place. You're right, you are not in your rooms often enough to let the rooms bother you. I just wanted to give you a heads up and make you aware. We stayed in building 7. Our guests were scattered. Talk to your wedding coordinator about having all of your guests in the same building or at least next to each other.

When my cousins door frame fell off, she immediately called the front desk and they came to repair it- there wasn't an apology or anything. But, that is not a reason to be worried- the resort is amazing.

When my uncles room flooded, they did move him to another room but that is because it was obvious he couldn't stay in there. It was nice of them to change him although I wouldn't expect anything else. I just am not happy that he was inconvenienced.

Most importantly!!!! Book your spa appointment NOW for the day of your wedding. When we arrived, I went to the spa to book my hair and makeup appointment and all they had available for the day of my wedding was 11am and we werent getting married until 4pm. Luckily someone canceled and I had my hair and makeup done at 2:30- which was now a little too late.

As far as the ceremony music goes, have it on your ipod and the wedding coordinator will play it during the ceremony and switch the songs when necessary.

We had the Ultimate Wedding package. Our dinner was the fillet and lobster. It was delicious and all of our guests raved about it!

Dreams Punta Cana is a beautiful place to have your wedding. You will not be disappointed. Just take my advice and get the room situation figured out now. And, the spa appointment.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
