(I also searched and used the links in the beginning and didn't get anything so am posting here)

I am using a TA from dw.com as well and have been pleased so far.

I don't expect her to do the wedding planning because that isn't what they are for. We shall see once we get closer but I did want to say, I'm pleased so far.

From the sounds of some of the stories, it seems like its hit or miss with DW.com. I've been using one for all of my hotel reservations for myself and guests and have not had any significant issues at all. She has been very helpful in helping my guests make their reservations and the group rates I am getting are far better than any of the discount websites.

I have a number of guests who are a bit older and not computer savy so its helpful for them to be able to call someone directly and make a reservation rather than direct with the hotel.

It's true she didn't know much about weddings at my resort, but when it came to all the travel stuff, she was on it. Just remember, these are TA's; they're not WC's. Once I came to that realization myself and stopped relying on her for wedding info, we had a great relationship. She got us a great deal and fixed any travel hiccups that came up, and there were quite a few!
I can't believe I'm reading all of these awful reviews....my TA has been so great. I must have lucked out because she was recommended by a friend that got married in Costa Rica last year. Within 10 minutes of her being "assigned" to me..she had called me AND emailed me. When I ask for hotel info..I have it back by the end of the night. She had pricing and packages worked out same day also.

As I'm writing this..I just got an email from her with information for a resort I might want to switch to for honeymoon week..I asked for this late last night.

I can't stress the horrible experience ihad with Brittany Schiffler of destination weddings and woud not recommend her to anyone with a right mind.

she is not on top of it and plays dumb when it comes to your money.

I have read bad things of herand still gave her a chance but I wish i would had listened

Jewels, I completely feel your pain.  I had the exact same experience with Brittany.  I left about 1 1/2 page post on this site about how horrible my experience was with her.  If any one else is reading this, and happen to get matched up with Brittany, RUN, RUN, FAR FAR AWAY!!!

Wow - I really REALLY wish I had found this site before I found destinationweddings.com. I think my fiance and I have been lucky. Our first planner was very flaky and we kind of got talked into the resort that we picked, but we ended up asking for a switch and our new planner, Christine Kennedy, has been very on top of things and great with our guests.

Had I seen these reviews sooner I probably would have gone with an individual TA or at least done some more research - but if you're using DW.com and happen to be matched up with Christine Kennedy, I think you're in good hands =)

I'm with you, I had a GREAT experience with my TA on destinationweddings.com

In fact, she was the better part of the experience. The resort was nice and beautiful, but they dropped the ball on the wedding day itself.

I was assigned to Susan White.  She ws ok at first but at the end she ended up being horrible!!!  She was always rather slow with her responses and yesterday I found out that she lied when she said I qualified for a promotion that was supposed to get me a refund of about $1200.  She also lied and told me and my guests that if we booked the room by a certain date we'd be eligible for a resort credit.  When we got to the resort no one there knew anything about the credit and when I finally got a response from her one month after my wedding she told me that I didn't qualify for the credit or the promotion because it wasn't written into my contract even though she was responsible for writing my contract!!! She is awful.  I'd suggst staying away from DW.com all together. It seems like they have a lot of issues.

    • Hi everyone! I have been doing lots of research on various wedding venues all around Mexico, my fiance wants a destination wedding and I am happy to have a wedding wherever so long as the vibe is right and guests are happy!  I have been seriously looking at Cabo Azul and was trying to find potential costs for them, but only found a page about their wedding costs from 2010. Does anyone have any updated information on costs / reviews they would like to share of this venue? Or advice in general, anything helps. Thanks so much, happy wedding planning to all!
    • Hello everyone, I am dreaming of a wedding in Costa Rica and was wondering if I could get any help with venues and wedding planners. I am thinking Tamarindo because a close friend of mine lives there and I've been in town more than a couple of times, she's being helpful but is at a loss when it comes to this subject really so I was wondering if anyone here had recommendations. I am not closed to other town suggestions either, if I happen to find a good place and staff somewhere else. These are the places I have so far, has anyone had any experience with any of them?  Stay In Tamarindo Luxury Villas in Costa Rica Luxury Villas Pinilla Tropical Homes of Costa Rica The Point Luxury Villa Thank you so much for your help!
