Things to Do in Cancun-Riviera Maya: The Camel Safari
MarieSamSanchezPhoto posted a article in Planning
The Cancun-Riviera Maya is thriving with an abundance of fun activities and adventures for you and your guests, but perhaps one of the most unique experiences one can encounter is the Camel Safari at Maroma. The Camel Safari allows participants to traverse atop these incredible creatures through a jungle-like landscape bordering along Maroma Beach, which is considered one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Designed for both children and adults, this sand dune adventure will give you quite a thrill while also giving your breathtaking views of the incredible Caribbean coast. The ride itself is about 45 to 60-minutes long with a stop in between to enjoy the gorgeous seaside views and also a chance to feed these sweet and friendly camels with carrots. You'll also have ample time to take great photos with the camels. While this safari tour will get your heart racing, it's quite a comfy ride and the camels walk at a leisurely pace so you still get to enjoy the scenery and take photos or video as you ride along the path. It's a great experience for couples as well as their guests -- so a Camel Safari would be a great idea as a group outing, that also welcomes children if your group has a combination of both young and old. The Camel Safari adventure includes round trip transportation from your hotel (service from Cancun, Riviera Maya, or Playa del Carmen) to Maroma, the camel ride, safety gear, a bilingual guide, time at the beach for photographs and camel interaction and a post-ride snack of refried beans, tortilla chips and hot sauce as well as bottled water and non-alcoholic beverages. Participants must be at least 10 years old to ride on their own camel (children under the age of 5 are free, and may accompany an adult on the same camel). This activity is not permitted for: pregnant women, people with a weight over 220 lbs., or people with any health condition that may prevent them to participate safely in the tour. To find out more information on rates and availability of the Camel Safari at Maroma, visit: www.maromaadventures.com For those looking for a more thrill-seeking pace, Maroma Adventures also offers other tours and experiences, such as speedboats, horseback rides, scuba and snorkel outings, dolphin swims, jetpacks and ATV adventures. Visit www.maromaadventures.com for more information. - - - About me: I am a former BDW Bride AKA as MarieSam and I was addicted to this forum as I planned my own wedding in 2009. Written by Promedsa -- a top fireworks and special effects company in Cancun/Riviera Maya. You’ve all heard of those stories about, well…. slightly dull weddings, so we have written this article to ensure these words are nowhere near associated with your special day. Instead we want your wedding guests to have a great time celebrating your Big Day and we believe Promedsa Weddings can help you with this ... In addition to a beautiful venue, great food and of course great company, we suggest adding some truly unique effects into your day to really dazzle your guests. Here are our top 5 ideas on how to deliver that WOW factor -- all of which Promedsa would love to assist you with. Firework Display (This can be created to the rhythm of your special song) A firework display is our absolute top pick when it comes too illuminating your day. What better way than a firework display? We can work with you to create either a simple and inexpensive show or an elaborate and synchronized show. Do you have a song that is special to you and your sweetheart? If so, tell us and we will build your firework show around this tune. Fountains Fountains are very popular in Cancun-Riviera Maya weddings. They may not be as elaborate as a firework display but they are very pretty and make for great photo moments! It is completely up to you how you would like the fountains set up and when you would like them fired. We suggest doing this at either your first kiss, or first dance but really the options are limitless. Pyro Letters We’ve all seen the perfect proposals take place on the romcom films and wished nothing more than it to happen to us. Well now it can! Promedsa specializes in creating unique and customized Pyro letters for the couples they work with. Be it ‘Will You Marry Me?’ or even your initials, we can make whatever your heart desires and set this alight when the sun goes down to reveal your message. Sparklers Who doesn’t love sparklers? We stock a wide range of sparklers for the couples to choose from (we even have hearts and letters!) Sparklers not only make for great wedding favors for your guests but also are the perfect picture opportunity. Just remember to always tell your wedding photographer if you would like some sparkler pictures or sparklers send off so they can prepare their equipment for this sort of shot. Last But Certainly Not Least – The Party Packages Here at Promedsa Weddings, we love to encourage a party! In order to do so, we have selected a number of different effects to help boost a party and add extra atmosphere to your event. You may opt for fire balls (which look great either side of the DJ) or you may decide on silver or golden confetti (we have hundred of colors and styles) or even CO2 jets to feel in a lively nightclub, we have everything you need to spice up the party! f you have any questions when it comes to having fireworks or special effects at your wedding, please do not hesitate to contact our team. Aside from having a plethora of gorgeous spaces to hold your perfect wedding ceremony, Moon Palace Golf & Resort Spa in Cancun also offers couples the option to enter their wedding in grandeur and style with the use of a horse and carriage. The horse drawn carriage is an option for all couples should they choose to make a grand entrance for their ceremony or even use for epic wedding photos. The horse and carriage is also a ideal option for Indian weddings during the Baraat, where the groom's procession can include festive dancing and music but also a grand way for him to enter atop the horse drawn carriage. Because the horse and carriage are on the resort grounds, there is also no worries or problems with having access to its use. For more information on Moon Palace weddings or adding the option of using the horse and carriage at the resort, click here.

When in Mexico, it's natural to have high expectations for Mexican food and drinks, and Los Caporales restaurant at Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort in Cancun does not disappoint. As one of the many eateries on the all-inclusive resort's grounds, diners at Los Caporales can indulge in delicious fajitas and tacos as well as several other well-known Mexican specialties off their a la carte menu. But perhaps one of the most popular items on the menu is their special Mayan coffee -- the perfect after-meal treat for your body and an incredible presentation for your senses. This speciality coffee is prepared with tequila, coffee, sugar, orange and topped with whipped cream. But before you indulge in its rich flavors, you'll be mesmerized by the preparation and presentation of this delightful post-dinner treat. It's definitely worth a try if you plan to stay at Moon Palace and a quite a bonus at the end of a great meal! Los Caporales is located in the Central lobby of the Nizuc region of the resort. The restaurant is open from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. for dinner daily. - - - About me: I am a former BDW Bride AKA as MarieSam and I was addicted to this forum as I planned my own wedding in 2009. Unlike traditional wedding celebrations, Indian Weddings often span over the course of three to four days focusing on different aspect of the wedding union with special cultural ceremonies and practices. One of those is the Mayian, which is the preparation ceremony the day before a Punjabi or Sikh wedding is held. According to Sakurako Yakushiji the COO and Master Florist & Decor Expert of LATIN ASIA -- a premiere wedding decor stylist team in the Cancun-Riviera Maya area -- Mayian is usually a night ceremony that involves many rituals among them chuni or choora ceremony, or Jaggo where matka or jaggo (metal bowls) are placed on ladies heads while they dance amongst the crowd. Sometimes the Mayian happens in combination with the Sangeet (music and performances night) and ladies Mendhi where henna is applied. Yakushiji and her LATIN ASIA team recently created a vibrantly hued Mayian Ceremony display at the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort and she explains some of the inspiration behind their creation. Question: What is the inspiration behind this particular design? This particular design we created was a combination of traditional elements presented differently. Why? Because we like to do things better every day! Matkas, choki tables, thalis with multicolor crystals, bajots and a stunning backdrop with Pakistani, Indian and Arabic lanterns all together with colorful solid fabrics and sarees on top with a raised platform dressed with golden sequin fabrics gives a stunning result and all your guests will rave from years to come! If this is the Mayian which is the prelude of the wedding, imagine what we can do for your wedding ceremony and gala reception. Question: What type of feel were you aiming for in this design? Maiyan is the door or prelude to the wedding day, so a backdrop to demark the ceremony enhances its importance and gives it a special touch. Regular backdrops are flat and boring, so we aimed to bring volume and movement. So we used a 3-panel backdrop with contrasting colors, dashes of gold and hanging lanterns to make this Maiyan unique. At LATIN ASIA, we do not do cookie cutter, we like to design from scratch and little details make a huge difference. Breaking the rules and standards of flat, or square we see endless options to create a fabulous shape, incredible color combinations and stunning textures with props. We do not forget even the floor as all Indian weddings must have a raised platform. We decided to pop it up with golden sequin covers to transform an empty space from bland to extraordinary. Question: What was the inspiration behind the color palette you chose? As Maiyan is a very meaningful event and it is the preparation ceremony, we tried to make it vibrant, festive and bright -- in other words colorful. Orange and bright pink are quite popular colors among these festivities. And golden touches is something all Indian weddings must have. Question: What sets LATIN ASIA apart from other styling teams when it comes to Indian destination weddings? As a wedding industry professional for over 10 years and having my wedding ceremony in Agra India, I know the good, the fabulous and of course the ugly around the hood when it comes to destination Indian weddings. Designing décor for an Indian wedding, is not an easy job, as it is not just about the design, it is about knowledge of each of their rituals, ceremonies and events. Each wedding is unique and special. When it comes to Indian weddings, this feeling of uniqueness enhances tremendously and it could be a challenge to rely on people who do not understand the truly meaning of an Indian wedding. Moreover when it comes to Indian destination weddings, the lack of knowledge and understanding each need of bride and groom and both family members is a scary situation. Luckily with LATIN ASIA, we truly understand the meaning of a destination Indian wedding, which is to EMBRACE marriage and collectively work together, where each of the members of the wedding: bride, groom, immediate family, hotel members, vendors, priest, musicians, photographers, etc. -- EVERYONE has to participate actively to make this happen. So it is not surprising to see vendors, hotel members, priests and aunties all together participating and doing things together. Something totally opposite to western style weddings where every part does its own part separately. My LATIN ASIA team and I understand how to embrace this collective effort and we happily participate from beginning to end on every destination Indian wedding we do. For 2015 alone, we did 81 destination Indian weddings from scratch to end, each one with an average of 3-day events. So if you do the math, you'll see that in 2015 alone, we attended 243 days of destination Indian weddings! And we were so happy and proud to be part of each of them. For more information on LATIN ASIA's services, visit their website at: www.weddingcancun.mx or contact the team directly at latinasia.flowers@gmail.com - - - Sakurako Yakushiji, COO, Master Florist & Decor Expert of LATIN ASIA, has impeccable logistics knowledge, extraordinary floral design skills with a Masters degree and international license in Japanese floral art. Having her own Hindu wedding ceremony at Agra India, she and her team understand the deep meaning of what it takes to create a dream Destination Indian wedding regardless being Hindu, Sikh or Ismaili Muslim. Saku has trained people from scratch not only to execute great performances, but to make every member of LATIN ASIA a better person creating new opportunities every day.

Hi- I am just starting to look at options for our wedding, we have not set on a date. I've always wanted a fall wedding but when we decided on Mexico that killed the fall idea. What are some of the best times to go (outside of hurrican season) ? I am looking for an adults only , all inclusive place that has somewhere other than on the beach to do our vows. I've fallen in love with The One & Only Pamilla but sadly can't afford it there. Something similar would be idea, we are thinking about 50 guests. All suggestions are appreciated!

Written by Promedsa -- a top fireworks and special effects company in Cancun/Riviera Maya If you are thinking about having fireworks at your Destination Wedding in Riviera Maya - GREAT! (They are sure to look awesome and wow all your guests!). However there are some important factors you should know about and consider before adding this wow factor to your Wedding Day. Find out the Policies and Regulations at Your Wedding Resort/Venue The first thing we suggest doing when you become interested in adding fireworks to your wedding is to contact your appointed wedding coordinator at your chosen resort. As each resorts/venue has different policies and regulations when it comes to fireworks, it is best to know exactly what rules you’re dealing with as they can vary considerably. It is best to know from the start what your resort will and won’t allow. Take for example some resorts (especially along the Riviera Maya strip) that have large palapas along their beaches, or incorporated into their grounds, will not allow ground-based fireworks. The straw-like material on the roofs of these structures are very flammable, resulting in fireworks not being permitted on the property grounds. If you find yourself with a resort that does not permit fireworks from their grounds do not fear! These resorts will (and do) allow fireworks to be fired from a boat or barge in the sea. This ensures that the resort structures are 100% safe whilst still giving you your beautiful moment. Use a fireworks company that has been authorized by local Civil Protection and can obtain the necessary permit. As one of the top firework and special effects companies in Riviera Maya, we take safety VERY seriously. After all, we are dealing with explosives! We believe safety should be the number one rule on site and we train each member of our team to take every safety measure possible. When it comes to laws associated with Fireworks in Riviera Maya, it is very important that the company you use has been authorized by local Civil Protection. This organization needs to be notified when events are taking place that require fireworks. Gaining permission from Civil protection gives us the go ahead to proceed with the event. It means there has been acknowledgment that the event is going to happen in safe place and that nobody outside a trained team from a reliable company will be handling the explosives. The last thing we need to gain in order to distribute fireworks at your event is a SEDENA Permit. This permit classifies that the company is legal and is complying with all updated fire laws in order to work with explosives. Use a fireworks company that is trustworthy and reliable. As you can see from the above, it is very important you choose a company that is reputable. We want you to be 100% confident that your WOW moment is going to come from a company of great experience and a top-notch service! If you have any questions when it comes to having fireworks or special effects at your wedding, please do not hesitate to contact our team. We have more than 20 years experience in this field and it would be our pleasure to work with you and help you along the way to your dream day! I got married at Xcaret a couple of weeks ago and want to give my highest recommendation for Jhankarlo Photography--he was so so amazing! Here's why: Let me begin by saying that my parents left me behind at the hotel and that had it not been for my two bridesmaids, I never would have made it to the church! My Mom had left the hotel to get her hair done outside the resort and had an emergency but didn't tell anyone. My dress, veil and shoes were in my parents' room, my bridesmaid's dress and daughter's dress were also in there. Mom was nowhere to be found, dad was still in his swimming suit 15 minutes before the bus to go to Xcaret was supposed to be in the lobby. I was locked out! After waiting outside that room for almost half an hour, with my hair and makeup all done--and starting to melt--dad shows up. I ran inside, grabbed dresses, kid and shoes. Flew to my room to give kid bath and get her dressed. Dad was supposed to get on bus to make sure he's be there on time. Mom was supposed to drive me to the church. And so I was left behind. So you can Imagine how I felt. An hour later, I get a message from planner telling me my parents were at the venue already. My bridesmaid managed to get keys to our rented red Jetta from my husband as he was on his way out! Phew! When I got to the bridal suite at the church I was a hot, and incredibly angry mess in gym shorts and flip flops, hauling my dress and veil. I met Jhankarlo when I was almost in tears, and he smiled and said, "Everything's going to be OK. This is your day and it will be beautiful." He and my planner made sure I got the space I needed to have my tequila shot, calm down, and get into my dress. He was extremely professional and respectful, and took a few photos while I finished getting ready. As he took them, he showed me a few shots from his camera and they were incredible. He is not a commercial wedding photographer--he loves manipulating light and movement. And since our wedding was at night, the pictures showed incredible color and details that you'd never see anywhere else. Jhankarlo is an artist and loves what he does. Jhankarlo covered our wedding and reception for 8 hours! For me, having him there made the night so much fun! The music and happiness from our guests also allowed him to feel relaxed and he even got on the dance floor and took amazing pictures of all of us having a great time! The next day, he came to pick us up to do the trash the dress shoot. We spent the first part of the session at Xcaret and then went to the cenote for the water shoot. Photographing under water is much harder than you'd expect, but we all laughed a lot and the pictures that we saw from the camera directly were unlike anything we' d ever seen before. Jhankarlo will climb, turn himself over and will do just about anything to get the perfect angle so the shot comes out beautifully. The value we received from the package we selected far exceded the price and our expectations. We also gained a friend. Thanks, Jhankarlo! We can't wait to see our photos!

I didn't see a thread started for brides getting married at the Royalton Riviera Cancun in 2016/2017 so I figured I would start one! I figured this would be a great way for each other to compare notes, and answer each others questions. I'm just finalizing booking with Luxe Weddings and am planning on booking the Royalton Riviera Cancun for May 2017! I'm looking at either getting married on the beach, or the Sky Deck, followed by a reception at the Nautica Beach Bar, or directly on the beach! What are you guys doing??

When you first step foot on the Moon Palace Golf & Spa Resort grounds, you're immediately taken aback by the size of this beautiful Cancun seaside oasis. Boasting close to 2,500 luxurious rooms, this all-inclusive resort offers plenty of location options for brides and grooms to share their nuptials. Be it in one of their oceanside terraces, in one of their glass chapels or gazebos, or perhaps in one of their many ballrooms -- couples have a lot of great venues to choose from. But as a former bride who initially had a tough time finding a Catholic venue option in the Cancun-Riviera Maya -- besides a traditional church -- where a Catholic wedding ceremony could be held, I was quite impressed with Moon Palace's Capilla Catolica. This air-conditioned glass Catholic Chapel is set in a lovely space in Moon Palace's Nizuc section and is just footsteps away from the turquoise blue waters, giving you a beautiful ocean view from the chapel. Aside from the glass walls, this indoor gazebo is also surrounded by beautiful landscaping and a pond. And while the pews, which seat up to 80 people, cannot be removed from the gazebo, the Catholic symbols can be taken down should a couple want to hold a non-denominational ceremony at the chapel. Sunday mass is also regularly held at Capilla Catolica for resort guests who wish to attend. When I was planning my wedding about 8 years ago, I came across limited options for a Catholic wedding. While I wanted to have a Catholic ceremony, I was disappointed to find out that weddings at the time could only be held inside the church. I was after all, a bride who always dreamed of getting married on the beach or at least overlooking the beach. With Moon Palace's glass chapel, couples can still have that beautiful Catholic service with an exquisite ocean view. And no matter how warm a day it may be, the chapel is air-conditioned so you and your guests will certainly be comfortable. Moon Palace also has other air-conditioned glass gazebo options on the resort grounds where wedding ceremonies can be held. 2 Months Out - Let The Frustrations Out!
kjeanconte posted a blog entry in Moon Palace Memorial Day Wedding
Hi everyone: So I've been planning in a vacuum and with my wedding a little more than two months away and the small things needing attention, I'm starting to feel the little bit of panic building. 80 GUESTS and counting! I had a destination wedding to reduce my numbers. Didn't work too well huh? I'm having the wedding at Moon Palace Cancun and so far I don't have any major complaints. My offsite coordinator Lizet has been an absolute doll! :DI had heard that people wouldn't hear from their coordinator until much later but Lizet was in contact with me with less than a month after we had the date confirmed. I know I can be an absolute pain with all the emails but she has dutifully answered them in a relatively quick manner (1-3 days average). We have the ceremony at the Bugambilias gazebo, with the Tuscan terrace for the cocktails and we move inside for the reception. I have the majority of my vendors lined up: Décor: Gama Flowers: Hotel Cake: Hotel Photography: Friend of future hubby is coming down as a guest to do our lovely pics Videography: AmorAmor Weddings (outside vendor - their work looks absolutely amazing! Music: PSAV (though I also have DiscoMovil on contract because of the great reviews that I have read. But when I told PSAV the price I was getting including the vendor fee was cheaper than what they had, they not only matched it but gave me a $200 discount for an incentive. The only reason I still have DiscoMovil is because I am concerned about the music. I work in the music industry hence why I'm being so picky). In the air Makeup: I am an Black bride so I am very concerned about what my hair and makeup will look like. Especially since I am a natural hair bride. I'm on the fence about working with MVP hair and beauty. ANY HELP IN WITH THIS? What I'm not particular happy about: Travel agent: L and S Vacations. Just venting here. We met Lindsay at a wedding expo here in NYC. And in the beginning it worked well with choosing our hotel and putting down our deposits. She also fits the bill on our save the dates and send them out. But here's where the trouble started. We decided to do magnets for our save the date. At least 20% of our guests never received them. Could it have been that the magnets got stuck somewhere? Shouldn't there have additional paper inside of the envelope to make that it didn't happen? I don't know because no return address were ever put on the envelopes. So if it was a matter of a wrong address, we didn't know. Which meant that I had purchase additional save the dates and send them out. All of mine made it to the intended person. *shrugs* When the time came for the guests to begin to make the travel arrangements, it felt like I didn't have a travel agent. Because however many times you called, the phone was never picked up. NEVER. I had multitudes of guests complaining that they couldn't get through to make their room reservations. And of course it was the last few days to book and it was a panic. I was having mini heart attacks for days, trying to make sure the MVPs were getting what they needed, diverting them to emails to contact Lindsay. And to make matters worse, she was out of the country and took on more work than she could have handled (5-6 other weddings that had the SAME deadline that we had). The month of October was exhausting - from people complaining about prices, to rooms to never-ending questions that should have been answered by L and S Vacations. Then it became an issue about changing names on the rooms. Even though each invoice/contract stated that we had 91 prior to the wedding make changes, she shot them down saying it wasn't possible to change; that if they needed a room they would have to book an entirely new room without the savings we had before. I'm a lawyer so I went to town on it and got her to read her own contract. Finally she apologized and made the changes. If I knew what I know now, I would have just worked with the hotel myself. They have been very attentive and I really don't need L and S Vacations for anything else. The only upside was the payment plan that guest could do but...sigh. I wonder if it was worth a lot of aggravations. Sigh. Anyway I'm sure I'll be back to lament about my peacock theme, my 14 member wedding party and the drama to come. Stay strong ladies,- 1 comment

Stay strong ladies, Kristina

How We Met So a bit of a back story on myself. I will cut straight to the chase by saying I has a life changing event when I was 25. I was planning a trip of a lifetime by myself, a cruise of the Greek islands and right before I left I woke up with a painful lump in my breast. Fast forward 6 months and I was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer. I went through chemo, radiation, double mastectomy and reconstruction surgery all within the span of a year. I was single at the time and while I stayed positive throughout everything I thought I would never find someone that would want to be be with me as I wasn't whole ananymore. It took seven years for me to work on building up my self esteem and self worth again before I was even remotely ready to start to date again. About 3 years ago I decided I was finally ready but didn't have I lot of opportunities to meet new people so like a lot of people now I went online. Let me tell you I met a lot of winners (and not the good kind)! I was just about to give up when Alec messaged me. He seemed so sweet and was so thoughtful about what he wrote and bonus he actually took the time to read my profile! He was and still is super shy but slowly he came out of his shell with me. He planned awesome dates, going to concerts, taking me to a boardgame cafe (I have a secret boardgame obession), going bowling, among other things. When we kissed for the first time it was magical. I know it sounds crazy but after the first few dates I knew he was the man I was going to marry. We both have the craziest things in common, the food we eat (cheeseburgers plain, meat and cheese, nothing else lol), we love hockey, we both love boardgames (even though he kicks my butt everytime), we both read up on movies after we watch them, I could go on forever lol! The Proposal So we had talked about marriage and went ring shopping in the Fall so I knew it was coming but didn't know exactly when. That day came on Christmas eve. He told me he chose Christmas because he knew how much I loved it and wanted it to be extra special. Alec is very shy and simple kind of guy so after I conned him into getting my gift early (eve instead of day) because that's what I do every Christmas. He grade my hand and hugged and kissed me lots and simply said I love you so much and will you marry me. It was simple yet beautiful and the best day of my life! The ring he chose wasn't one I had chosen but I'm so glad! He listened to everything I liked and chose something he thought fit the criteria which meant the world to me. Right after the proposal we went to my family gathering and it was so awesome to share the news with my family! I will never forget how I felt that night, I was on cloud nine. Let the planning commence! I was so happy just to be engaged but people kept bombarding me with questions , when are you getting married, where, etc and this was the night I got engaged! I felt super overwhelmed super fast. Saying yes was the easiest part. All I knew is I wanted a destination wedding. Finding a Travel Agent This was the easiest part for me as my Aunt is a TA. What I lo ed about this is the fact that I already had someone that I trusted with I feel is extremely important for a destination wedding. She always answers my emails and very promptly as well. Even if it might take her a few days she sends me warning so I'm not left hanging. Maybe it could be the fact that I know where she lives and I could hunt her down but I like to believe it's just her high standard of customer service. Picking the Resort The big thing for me was I wanted affordability without sacrificing quality in the resort. So my Aunt when immediately wentry to work and suggested 3 Mexico locations, Puerto Vallarta, Cabo, and Riviera Maya. She presented me with about 6 resorts in total with varying prices. Due to the Canadian Dollar taking a plunge the quotes weren't as cheap as I would've liked but in the end it was still way cheaper to chose Mexico versus a home wedding in Winnipeg. I within a week I narrowed it down to either Cabo or Riviera Maya. I ultimately chose the Grand Sirenis in Riviera Maya for a few reasons. They had a free wedding package, the resort was absolutely gorgeous, the prices for children were really reasonable and Riviera Maya was the only place I haven't been to in Mexico. Needless to say I was excited to say within a week I had made our decision (FI said whatever I wanted he was good with). Well I was excited until my TA came back and burst my bubble saying that Grand Sirenis has decided as of 2016 to eliminate the Free Package. I was devastated because we were on a tight budget I wasn't sure we could afford it. I immediately did up spreadsheet of all the costs so I would have a more realistic idea of the total cost because let's face it you have to pay extra for everything! In the end we were very fortunate that both sets of parents totally stepped to help us out which I'm forever in their debt. I was trying to previously plan the whole wedding ourselves without help except for the dress which my parents had previously said they would cover. Once the $500 deposit was paid to the resort and the $400 deposit for the Bride and Groom our TA's travel agency developed a PDF and a type of Web page on their site that guests can access to reserve their attendance. I have a lot more to write but time for bed. I will be back soon!

Hi Everyone, It wasn't easy and it took lots of time to finally decide on a resort. I would of never thought it would take this long to narrow down a resort, but there is so much to consider. We had narrowed down the resorts to: Hard Rock Riviera, Moon Palace, Now Sapphire and Royalton Riviera. Okay, it wasn't the fault of my finance to take long on making a decision - It was me lol. She stated it was up to me, so I made sure I did my due diligence. I've read a number materials to make a decision such as: promotions, catalogs, tripadvisor and company website. So, Today, we have finally made our wedding reservation and confirmed our wedding date for February 2017 at the Royalton Riviera Cancun. We found that the resort meets most our needs and expectations. There is a variety of food, lots to do and great area for kids. Everything seems to be underway, we are just waiting for our wedding invitations that we just ordered lastnight. We got our invitations made through vistaprint and hopefully they turn out great. We had to jump on the invitations as they were half price. The invitations only cost us about $115 for 250 including taxes and shipping. If anyone has details, photos or wedding experiences with Royalton Riviera, Please share.

Hello Ladies I am in need of some serious help! I'm getting married at Now Sapphire, and I'm sure like many other resorts, the floral arrangements are very pricey. I'm also from Canada so I have to convert everything to Canadian dollars which makes the resort floral arrangements even more pricey. I've thought about making my own artificial floral arrangements? Has anyone done this? Any advice? Did your flowers make it through customs okay? Did they pack easily? Any other ideas on what to do? I don't know what to do! Please help!

I chose my resort! It's the Platinum Yucatan Princess; the adults only resort beside the Grand Sunset/Riviera Princess resorts. I just thought I'd post since I didn't see many forums about this resort since it's fairly new. It's everything that I wanted in my checklist; a sky terrace , disco, close to Playa del Carmen. Just booked our ceremony to be on the terrace since I didn't want to have a beach ceremony. I'm at the beginning stages of planning so I'll probably post more once I know more about the details in the weddings that are conducted there.

HELLO! This is my first topic-but so far I LOVE this site! I am getting married in September in 2016 at the Dreams Riviera Cancun Resort. Overall, so far I will say that I have been frustrated that Angela is not responding to my email questions! However--a lot of you are saying it's because it's too far out and they will talk to me more 3 months before. That is HARD for a planner like me, but I'll be OK with it! One main QUESTION please! My Ceremony in on the BEACH at 6pm. This was suggested by my travel agent (with a 7pm cocktail hour on the BEACH to follow). I figured, the ceremony will be 30 minutes, photos for 30 minutes, and then at the cocktail hour we will do our first dances and the speeches. QUESTION: Will it be dark at 6pm? I don't want it to be dark for my ceremony! After the cocktail hour, my plan is to grab my guests and go to one of the restaurants for dinner. I know we won't be seated ALL together, but we can eat and chat there. I asked if we could make reservations for dinner and at first they said no. However, I now have 68 confirmed guests, so I hope they will let me make a reservation, other wise I'll have to send a Bridesmaid up to the restaurant around 7:45 and say "68 for dinner, please!" After dinner, I figured we would all go to the bar that is open until 2am and dance and drink, and people can leave whenever they want. One more QUESTION-- in September--will it be crazy crowded? THANKS everyone for your input! -AD

Hey Everyone! New here! We are getting married February of 2017 (open on dates). I have narrowed it down with the help of the FI and friends to 5 resorts: Royal Playa Del Carmen; El Dorado Royale; El Dorado Casitas (same property as Royale); El Dorado Seaside Suites; Excellence Riviera Cancun; and Excellence Playa Mujeres. We got details today from a TA that narrow it down more and are leaning toward Excellence Playa Mujeres. So excited to find this forum and start this journey!!!!!! Any direction to help would be more than welcome as I am completely new to this type of planning.

Hello everyone! I've been delaying on planning my wedding for awhile and I decided to stop procrastinating and finally picked the date (November 5th, 2016), but not the resort! I'm glad I ran into this site, there's tons of info here. I've been conflicted on choosing these three resorts - Azul Fives, Dreams Riviera, and Now Jade. For anyone what have visited these resorts, what are the pros and cons? I like that all three have clean and modern look, but all three have varying price range. The resort I'm leaning toward is Azul Five mainly because it's gourmet-oriented (I like good food), but I'm wondering if I'm "missing out" on better package and quality on other resorts. So far, in terms of group rates, Dreams Riviera has the most expensive rate, then Azul Fives, then Now Jade. I'm surprised that there is only two Azul Fives review on this site, I thought it would be more popular than that. Anyways, please help! Thanks!

Hey ladies ! So it's come time to put down my deposit for Azul fives ! I'm a bit nervous because of one thing, we really would love to have our ceremony on the Sky deck, but what about rain! I know they give you an alternate location, but what about the 1800usd that has been paid? I'm guessing it wouldn't be refunded? Any insight to this , thanks .
