Pros: great rooms, wonderful service and staff members, spa, large pools, delicious food
Cons: weak drinks, crowded
Hola :)   Rowdy and I got married at the Royal on July 22, 2011!   Travel Agent: We booked our flights, transportation and accommodations through an outside travel agent - Nanda with Beach Bum Vacation.  So WONDERFUL!  All of our guests used her services as well and had nothing but good things to say about her and her services.  She was constantly providing up to date information and making sure everyone had everything they needed before they left.  We had guests coming from Texas, M

Pros: good location, good service, free international calls, good food, not too big, jacuzzi in every room, Spanish wines
Cons: public beach, agressive muzzies in muzzies season, price are in USD but billed in Pesos
We booked thru AirCanada Vacations, 1 week @ the Royal PDC Mastersuite.  It is a bit more pricey, but mastersuite offers FREE international calls (most of our guests are from Europe and North Africa, and my MIL's forte is phone-rathon), FREE wedding ($400 extra if we stayed at the junior suite), a big separate area for my hubby to hangout and play cards with his boys while I can just zzz in the bed with minimum disturbance, a bigger balcony for boys cigar nites.  In room mini bar (not very mini)

Pros: Everything
I will add pictures later but here is my review.   July 2, 2011  Wedding: A+     We decided on a destination wedding back in June of 2010.  We originally wanted to have a traditional wedding at home but with over 250 guests the costs were too much.  Playa del Carmen has always been a place that both of us have loved.  It was our first trip together and Playa is where we became engaged so naturally a destination wedding in Playa only made sense.  One of our favorite aspects

So sorry this took a while to complete! It’s been non-stop trying to move, catch up on work and enjoy the (finally) nice weather in Vancouver. To make it up, I’ll try to be very detailed. (i sure hope all the photos come out ok, an not giant or tiny...sorry in advance if it does)   Flight Most of our group flew American Airlines down. It was relatively uneventful (which isn’t a bad thing), no one took my dress, but I asked when I first stepped on the plane if there was somewhere I could

Pros: Our family & friends in 1 place for 1 week
Cons: It didn't last longer
We just got back from our amazing wedding week at the Royal Playa del Carmen. We had 52 guests + ourselves. Most of us stayed at the Royal, while a few (those with children) stayed at the Gran Porto. My immediate family, his immediate family, and we arrived on a Tuesday, our wedding was on a Friday (5/27/11), and we left the following Tuesday. Our guests were there between 3-7 days, with most staying about 5 days. His extended family came from South America, mine came from all over the USA. Mexi

Pros: Everything
Wedding: A+ We started planning the wedding back in November of 2009.  We always wanted to do a destination wedding, and early research narrowed it down to places with more affordable flights.  Mexico was the front runner for me on this, and the Royal had amazing reviews from tripadvisor.  I liked that it was close to a town for guests to do things, had a beach, and 24 hr room service.  Also, it was 16 and up, but the resort across the street allows kids.  Their prices were good as well fo

Choosing The Resort – We were lucky enough to have been able to visit the area about a year and a half before our wedding to check out a few resorts.  We narrowed our list down to the Royal and Iberostar, based on price, location and reviews.  Although I loved the architecture and feel of the Iberostar, in the end we felt that it was far too large (it was HUGE) and a bit isolated for our taste.  The Royal was just so beautiful and in such a great area that we fell in love with it – the other

Wedding: A+ We started planning the wedding back in November of 2009.  My husband and I saw this resort in November of 2006 and we fell in love with it. Pros: beautiful resort, great attentive staff, perfect location for wedding
I stayed at the Royal Resort in Playa del Carmen October 20 - 29, 2010. We had our wedding at the resort on October 24th. It was amazing!!   Hotel – A+ It’s a beautiful resort. The service is great and the staff are wonderful. The rooms were beautiful and housekeeping did a great job. The minibar was restocked everyday and they would even give us extras of the things we ate and drank the most of.  The food at the restaurants is very good. Asiana was our favorite restaurant. The only one

Resort: The Royal Playa del Carmen A+++, hands down best all-inclusive I have ever been to. The people are so warm and place their hands over their hearts as a show of respect and love.  Tell them you are there for wedding at check-in and they will quickly take you to one of the two romance concierges who will give you special attention throughout your stay. We received nice little gifts throughout our visit like daily champagne or chocolates, fruit, etc.   I also liked their personal touc

Pros: Great Food, Gorgeous Rooms, Wonderful Staff, Fun Location, Clean Grounds, Nice Beach, Wonderful Wedding, Great Value
Cons: Pool could be warmer, Beach could be a bit nicer, Not much "late night" atmosphere
I got married Thursday, November 11th 2010.  We traveled Saturday-Saturday (Nov 6th-13th) and had 60 total guests. It was PERFECT! I want to start out by saying you don't have to worry about anything! I used Best Destination a lot while planning etc and I found the reviews to be my favorite, so I want to make sure I include everything so this will be a long review :)   Planning - We used a local travel agent to book everyone at The Royal. It was very nice! She got us very good rates and it

I am back from my amazing wedding & honeymoon!  I was married there on October 30th and spent a total of 5 nights there.  We were there with 26 of my friends & family, who all stayed at the Royal as well.    Hotel Room– amazing!  We were walked from the front desk to the concierge at the Oceanfront section to check in.  Our room was not ready, so we ate lunch and hung out at the pool.  A concierge actually found us at the pool to let us know our room was ready, a very nice touch!

I got married at The Royal Playa del Carmen on 10-09-10 at 4pm at the wedding gazebo.  I had 40 guests total in attendance.  I have a planning thread out there in the wedding journal section if you want to read more about the planning part of it.  If you think of any questions or if it seems like I missed anything please let me know. Oh and I know it's a long review so if you just skim over it at least read the points in bold   Hotel- The Royal Playa del Carmen was absolutely beautiful.

Pros: Food, pool, rooms and etc
Cons: Beach
We got married at The Royal on May 29, 2010.   We absolutely had a wonderful time! It was so convientely located near the 5th ave so we could walk around and shop.   The food was delicious!!! The rooms were cleanly kept. I loved everything about the resort. We went home with full stomachs and no compliants!   The only con i can think of is the beach..it is a bit rocky and it's by the ferry pier.   Other than that, it is an amazing resort!!! We will go back.
