  1. Kelly - I definitely recommend having a semi-private dinner at Asiana. We had our welcome dinner/rehearsal dinner there the night before the wedding. Everyone did have to eat the same thing, but it was only around $15 a plate and we didn't mind paying that. We also needed to have two vegetarian meals and they accommodated us with no problems. $15 a plate is so cheap compared to a rehearsal dinner in the US! The all inclusive drinks were included. Asiana has a room upstairs away from their downstairs dining room. You are seated at a long table all together and you feel like you are in a private room. The service was spectacular on this night and we had 33 people. Here is my full review with a few pictures from the night of the dinner with pics of of the food - http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/the-royal-in-playa-del-carmen-all-inclusive-spa-resort/reviews/4936 Everyone had a rice paper salad, terriyaki and tempura ice cream. Everyone LOVED the terriyaki and ice cream.
  2. Thanks JayKay. That really helps me to understand the blood tests. So hopefully two years from now we'll be TTC! OH the wait....It seems so long!!
  3. Sorry, meant why DO you have to have a blood test.
  4. Hi ladies! We are not TTC until around 1 1/2- 2 years from now. We just got married in July. In November we will have been together 4 years, living together 2 1/2 years and married 4 months. yay Neither of us are ready yet to bring kids into this world. We go out of town almost every other weekend and we love to travel and have selfish "me time". BUT I turn 30 next summer so it's always in the back of my mind. It's good to know what to keep in mind (the BC pills, folic acid, etc.) My OB/GYN actually told me to start taking folic acid as soon as I told her I was getting married. I guess she thought it could happen anytime accidentally?? I've been on and off the pill for 12 years. That freaks me out. Question: Why does you have to have a blood test if you have cats and what is it for? We have two kitties and I am the PRIMARY cleaner of the litter box LOL
  5. I finally got some of my pictures up from the wedding day and TTD we had with Gonzalo Nunez. Here's the link to the review with the pics http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/gonzalo-nunez-photography/reviews/5063 I've been married 3 months and I'm missing all the planning! I never thought I'd say that! Heidi
  6. Thanks ChicagoBride. I am so excited for all of you that have upcoming weddings! I want to go back! I finally posted my review - http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/the-royal-in-playa-del-carmen-all-inclusive-spa-resort/reviews/4936
  7. LOL I know right after I posted it I realized Breah was in there and you would recognize her! The resort did my hair and make up! The eye make up was a bit much at first (TOO much eyeliner), but I just asked her to wipe it off, she did, no complaints and I was happy. Someone asked about a DJ other than Ivan. I requested Ivan, but he must have already been booked. We had a different guy and I can't remember his name, but it was something like Thome, Tume or something like that. Sorry! He was not very vocal with the crowd, but the music was great. He mixed up the songs we had recommended with other songs that he chose. A lot of people made requests and he accommodated all of them! Everyone loved the smoke, mask and balloons too. As long as you have Dorremixx it should be fun!
  8. Hi ladies! I am back a MRS.!!! Thanks to those that remembered it was my big day! We left for Mexico on July 19th, the wedding was on July 22nd we returned home on July 29th. It's hard to believe it's over and done with. I definitely agree with everyone in the past that said don't stress and relax! I wish the day could have gone in slow motion or that I could do it all again! Everything went smoothly and I'll be sure to post a review by the end of this weekend. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the Royal and want to go back soon! I will try to attach a few pictures that my friends took, but not sure if my account lets me... The 1st one is at the reception (party time!) and my friends trying to pin my dress up.. We couldn't find the bustle! The 2nd one is me and my hubby's first dance. 3rd one is ring exchange at the ceremony. 4th is at dinner, right when we sat down. So happy! The last one is a shot of the ceremony with the bridesmaids and groomsmen! More to come later!
  9. Oh my goodness! I've missed so much... Chelsea, Janna and SweetLe - Your pictures are beautiful! You all look so happy! Janna - I love the traditional aspects you pulled into your wedding. How many people fit at that long table you had at Asiana's? Cheslsea - Thanks for posting your review and your book is really cute! I have been really busy getting last minute things together, starting to pack and it just hit me this morning that we will be in Mexico in less than a week! We fly there on Tuesday, July 19th. woo hoo! I hope to get my planning thread up before I go, but if not it'll be here afterwards.
  10. Thanks for the photographer tips Jenn and Janna! I am hoping to keep us as close to the Royal as possible. JoZee and Janna - Love love your pictures! They are all so pretty and they keep me looking foward to getting there! Two weeks from today we'll be arriving in Mexico and meeting with our onsite WC!! Janna - I wasn't able to view your pictures. It just takes me to the homepage of FB... Denielle - I am using Marvin for flowers, but I am still having the Royal make an "extra" bouquet for me since it's included in the package. I'll use the one from the Royal for the bouquet toss. I got my welcome dinner switched from the Gran Porto to Asiana's at the Royal! WOO to the HOO!! Just need to look over the menu tonight with FI and pick a 3 entree course for everyone. Not sure why people can't order what they want individually, but at this point I just need to stop making changes and get my welcome letters finished!!! Congrats Bonnie!! Enjoy the rest of your stay!!
  11. Thanks JoZee84 - Eek! That's the same thing I'm doing - booked a room for him at the Real & put him on my guest list for the night of the wedding with a spot at a table and a meal. Thanks for the heads up! I read it in your review, but now it's crunch time and I'm trying to nail down all the little details! Thanks Janna - Beach being public access is good info.! Should not have any issues there. I think he has actually done a few weddings at the Royal so maybe he knows the ins and out of it all. Have you gotten any of your pics yet?! I am requesting to switch my welcome/rehearsal dinner to Asiana's right now. We don't have any guests staying at the Gran Porto. I don't know what I was thinking...
  12. Oops! Sorry Janna! You did say that they don't switch up the main entree. I might see if I can switch our welcome/rehearsal dinner to Asiana's. I am not sure if I am happy with my menu choices at Maria's. Either way, as long as people eat and are full and happy, I will be happy. Congrats to Bonnie and Kelly! Have a blast this weekend! I have a question - Did anyone have any issues with their photographer for coming for their wedding and then on a seperate day for the TTD? Our wedding is on a Friday and the TTD is not until Sunday morning and I just want to make sure we have no issues either day.
  13. Oh no!...They cannot switch our meal to lamb! My FI and his family raised and showed sheep growing up and they would be so upset! HMM I may have to mention that to my WC asap!! haha We are having our welcome dinner/rehearsal dinner at the Maria's at the Gran Porto. I hope it turns out okay. Not so sure though...They sent me a menu and said pick an salad, appetizer and dessert for everyone. So basically everyone is having the same meal. AND it just dawned on me that my future MIL is a vegetarian. Uh oh - not going to work. Janna - What is included in the banquet menu at Asiana's? Kelly - That is a cool idea to have your Bachelorette party in Playa! Sounds fun! My BP is this Saturday night! Looking foward to it! Over the past week I've ordered programs, made placecards and gotten everything together that we plan on putting in our OOT bags. I've also gotten everything for my BM's gifts and plan on giving it to them on Saturday night when we have dinner together before the bach. party. The to-do list is getting shorter and that makes me so much less stressed!! Happy (almost) 4th of July weekend (Americans ladies!!)!!
  14. Hey Janna - Sorry to hear the end of your trip turned sour. That is horrible to hear, especially considering how much we time and $$$ we all put into the place!! I do know Breah! My FI and I are friends with her and her husband and they are coming to our wedding! How do you know her? You can PM me if you'd like!
