  1. Yay, less than 6 months! Glad to hear all the Canadians are paid in full, one less stress I'm sure!
  2. @@snswedding2016 I love the original Bar Hop (so many great beers), so that sounds awesome to me! I can be there by 5:30pm - thanks for making the reservation for us
  3. Woohoo, the big day is here! Happy anniversary and vow renewal today! I hope the day goes off without a hitch and the weather cooperates! Can't wait to see your pictures and hear all about it
  4. Wow, what a gorgeous dress! Looks perfect on you - you're glowing That's a great idea to try on veils during your last fitting. Even if you don't change your decision on the hair jewels, you'll know for sure that you made the right choice because you tried them on. Sent from my SGH-T999V using Tapatalk
  5. Wow am I ever behind reading these planning journals. I can't believe your vow renewal / trip is already here! Wishing you safe travels and gorgeous weather. Doug is going to swoon when he sees you in that gorgeous dress! Xoxo Sent from my SGH-T999V using Tapatalk
  6. It was great to finally meet you @@deecol! Looking forward to the next meetup
  7. Just got back from vacation and totally jet-lagged, but I'll be there on the 2nd. Can't wait to catch up with all of you again!
  8. Happy Wedding Day!!!! Hope it's everything you dreamed of and more! Can't wait to hear all about when you get back
  9. @@Meandhim OMG, in love with everything you've made I really need to get my butt in gear and start thinking about this stuff. Hopefully the things I eventually DIY end up half as good as yours!
  10. @@yycbride2016 That does seem crazy that they would want us to pay for the palapa for the reception and pay for the ceremony. I haven't really been in contact with Adrianna much since I booked the resort, but now I guess I'll need to send her an email to confirm some of the things that I had assumed were included based on the documentation that she provided. Fingers crossed the ceremony cost is free like it was for @@calgarybride2015 since that will save all us GS brides some money that is better spent elsewhere!
  11. Congrats on being one month away from the big day! Your Bachelorette sounds like it was so much fun - if you had a two day hangover it must have been an awesome night! Ossington and Dundas is one of my favourite neighbourhoods for food and drinks so I'm glad you enjoyed it, and how awesome that you got to celebrate with other brides-to-be. Can't wait to see the pictures
  12. October 2nd works for me too Excited to chat over a round table and to meet @@deecol and any others who couldn't make it out on Friday!
  13. OMG, congrats on a beautiful wedding day! You looked absolutely gorgeous and that huge smile on Juan's face watching you walk down the aisle melted my heart
  14. Woohoo, legal ceremony then off to Mexico in 2 days! I can't even imagine what it feels like to be that close. Hopefully the last minute stuff gets done quick and easy so you aren't stressing too much. Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back Oh, and thanks for the tip on the steamer! I'm pretty sure the Grand Sirenis charges an arm and a leg to steam anything so I'll definitely be bringing one with me.
  15. OMG, amazing pictures!!! You both look gorgeous, the background is breathtaking, the clothes you picked were perfect, the photographer did a great job. How wonderful that it all came together perfectly and ended with that beautiful sunset picture
  16. @@yycbride2016 I'm bringing a photographer from home, so it's definitely an option. But hopefully you can find a great photographer based in Mexico at the right price (especially if they take CAD)! What I understand from reading up on the rules and speaking with my photographer (she does a few destination weddings a year), is that they can't bring their entire photography kit into the country like they would have at a local wedding. As long as they bring 1 camera and maybe 1 extra lens then they do not require a work permit and are not considered a "professional photographer" working in the country. This will limit their ability to take pictures exactly the way they would like to (where they might want to change lenses throughout the day as the lighting and locations change), but I don't think it's significant difference in the quality of the pictures. Good luck with your search!
  17. So glad you started your planning thread! I love your dating story, but your engagement story is the cutest! I think your colours will look amazing and how great that you were able to find a colour compromise that you're both happy with!
  18. Yay, another planning thread - and another Grand Sirenis bride! Can't wait to see your pictures of the wedding in the Church on site, it's a beautiful spot for the ceremony. I really like your wedding dress and the bridesmaid dress from lulus. I will have to check out that site - the prices are really great! Looking forward to reading more as your planning continues!
  19. @@TinkerSofi Right now my FI doesn't make too much more than I do, so we split the bills generally evenly. Although we've lived together for 8 years now, we don't have a joint account (though maybe we should look into that). We each pay off our own credit card every month, I pay utilities, he pays for internet/cable and we take turns paying the rent every other month. The advice that I have heard re: splitting bills when one person makes more than the other is to split based on proportionate income. So if your total family income is made up of 65% Juan's money + 45% your money, then you would contribute to 45% of the bills and he would contribute to 65% so that your leftover money is split more fairly. Edit - clearly I took too long writing this post at work and @@TNT2015 beat me to the punch, lol
  20. Love your invites! They look amazing We just did electronic save the dates and no paper invites because we were being uber practical / trying to save money, but I'm so jealous of couples like you that did gorgeous paper invites. I'm sure your guests loved them!
