  1. @@diadiamond, and the same to you! Your day is right around the corner!!
  2. Jealousy can be such a hateful thing and it's even worse when it's during the happiest times of our lives. When we got engaged, my sister commented on FB with her "congrats". Once she found out that it was going to be a destination wedding, she told my mom that she will not be attending since she won't leave the country. I've been engaged now for 9 months with the wedding 3 months away and she has NEVER asked about the wedding. I have sent pics of things I have bought to try and keep her in the loop since she won't be there, but there is no enthusiasm at all...I have given up. I feel it's all a jealousy thing...but my feelings are, if you aren't happy with your life and the way it's going...only you can change that. My brother (and my best friend) passed away in February so I will be missing him at the wedding, my sister isn't going, and now I guess my father isn't going either. I let myself have one poor me day about it all...and I've since snapped out of it. Wedding is 96 days away (who is counting lol) and I am back to being on cloud 9. I can't and won't let anyone's negativity or jealousy put any kind of damper on my day! Easier said than done sometimes...but try to put aside the jealousy...don't let anyone rain on your parade!!
  3. Welcome, these girls are great!!! Congrats on the upcoming wedding!
  4. Great thanks so much ladies! My biggest concern is my cake topper, but I think that will be going in a carry on so I know it's not getting tossed around. And I like your idea, putting all the breakables in the carry on, and I don't even have that much. I plan on using lots of bubble wrap!!
  5. How are you all getting your stuff to your destinations? Are you carrying it all with you? Are any of you shipping anything? Our theme is starfish and I have a bunch that we will be using in one way or another at the wedding, I'm so afraid to pack it in a regular suitcase, so I am thinking now a carryon. What is everyone else planning on doing?
  6. I am getting married in Mexico in October I bought these rhinestone starfish clips for myself to wear, and it maybe cute for your girls. I found them on http://www.haircomesthebride.com/rhinestone-starfish-hair-clip-sea-star/
  7. Fantastic review!! I'm sure this is going to help a lot of brides out in the future! Congrats to you and the hubs!!
  8. Even though this post is a little dated, I am very glad I came across it! My younger brother passed away in February and life has not been the same since. I can’t seem to fill that void as we were so close. My mom and I had to make the decision to take him off of life support, and because of everything we have been through…her and I have never been closer. That being said, my dad (parents are divorced) decided he won’t be coming to our wedding because of “financial reasons”. But conveniently, he can spend money elsewhere with no problem at all, I have been soooo upset about this. But now, come to think about it….it’s my mom who should be walking me down. We have been through the worst of the worst together and came out stronger than before. So, I asked her and she seems pleased to do it. Going to make the best out of it, no matter what the situation may be!
  9. @vancouverpetunia Those are my options too. I will have to see if they will split the time - All together I won't need them more than 45 minutes. Next month, we start the actual planning with them, I would hate to bug them with questions this early. But waiting until 3 months before is driving me crazy LOL Well, it was driving me crazy so I had to email them lol. They will split up my time as long as I don't go over the 45 minutes. Which I won't do.
  10. Good morning ladies! Was looking for your opinion on something. My hotel offers a mariachi band for 45 minutes and I think the cost was about $350. I would love to include this in my wedding, which is going to be very small, 7-10 people. Because of the small group, we are having a “semi-private” dinner; I think having the band there would be a little too overwhelming. Do you think it would be odd, to have them play for a bit before I walk down the beach and then as my fiancée and I are walking away after we are married? I have my heart set on walking down the beach to one song, but didn’t know if it would be weird to go from the band to that one song. Maybe I am putting too much thought into it? What do you guys think?
  11. @@rbehlke I am getting married in Rivieria Maya this October and my quotes are about the same. About $350-$375 for 45 minutes.
  12. I did - and she seems to be the only one who makes those. I have another woman on there that is making my boutonnieres, so I just asked her if she could make them for me. Plus, this way the starfish will all match. Anyways, thanks for finding the idea for me!
  13. @@yycbride2016 - Have you contacted this seller about these starfish? I contacted her twice and have had no luck with a response.
  14. Thanks for the info! We are getting married in RM in just a couple months. I've been following the hotel's FB page and they said they are trying to keep up with it as much as possible. Our wedding will be in the lagoon area and there doesn't seem be any seaweed in that area - but in case it's still an issue in a few months - it's good to know some facts to share with people.
  15. OMG....thank you soooo much!!! I searched and searched - this is exactly what I was looking for. THANK You!!!!
  16. Seems to be a common issue - I too had a hard time getting in touch with anyone. Finally, I messaged their FB page and someone got right back to me after that. I was told they would contact me 3 months out and we could go over everything then, but like you....I tend to overthink things
  17. I found some great ones on Etsy...I believe I searched for "welcome bag letters". I will be ordering mine from there once all of my details are in place
  18. Hi ladies, I'm hoping someone on here can help me. I had put a deposit down on this bouquet that had starfish in it to go along with the theme of our wedding. Long story short, I told the seller to keep my deposit...it was turning into too much of a hassle. The hotel we are getting married at does give the choice of bouquets so I have decided to go ahead and do that since I found one I really like. Problem is, I would like to add starfish to it. I know on Etsy I saw starfish on a stick so that you can stick that into the flowers, and for the life of me...now I can't find it. Anyone know where I can get these or have any DIY ideas that you think might work? Whatever I do go with, needs to be durable to make the trip to Mexico. TIA for any help! Erin
  19. Hi ladies!! Newbie here! We are getting married on 10/27/15 at the Catalonia Riviera Maya. I am a very detail oriented person (aka anal) and was told that the hotel would contact me 3 months before hand to work out the details. So, I have my notebook and all my etsy items picked, but have to wait so long for the real details. Anyone else having to do the same?
