  1. I wanted to double check your total guest number! You said you had 7 tables (which could hold up to 10). So what was guest count for you guys? We may have 50 so I just want to be sure this location could handle us lol! And how wonderful about the welcome dinner, saw the pics you posted below this first post, that's awesome!
  2. Hey girl! Thanks so much for your answers. And try not to fret too much, I know this whole process is full of "OMG" moments and this is likely one of them. Here's my thing: - We would like a semi private type dinner, and if we can't have speeches there, then we'd need to somehow have a set up post-dinner to do them. If we pay for only 2 hrs of service for a "beach party" then this leaves little time for SPEECHES and DANCING. My fiance and I spoke about being flexible in how we do things last night, but I am not sure how we can organize this if we need speeches to be done later in the evening. - With the banquet halls, are they remotely outside? I would have loved to have an outside dance set up etc, but maybe it's better to try and do a banquet hall where we are settled in ONE PLACE, for the whole night. SO it's a balancing act it seems. We anticipate over 40 for sure to come, so this may mean we have to do a banquet *guessing indoors??* reception and dinner, dance, etc. Steitzer23, I can almost guarantee that is what they are doing - they aren't telling us the whole pic because they want us to go with more expensive option. This is where my wonderful TA's ideas and suggestions come in. You bargain for things. You look around at other resorts and bring back other deals that you get from other resorts and tell YOUR RESORT that you want them to match the price (lol). I have found things from Baha Principe with a poolside reception (post-dinner) for 3 hrs at a much better price. I plan on bringing this forward to the resort if we still have them in a top 5 for our potential resorts. GALA MENUS.pdf
  3. Wo wonderful! Since u had lovely pics of ur reception do u happen to have one from ur wedding lol!!!?? Thanks again:) Any other thoughts r appreciated too!
  4. A question for those of you who wanted a more private ceremony.. In looking at all pics and places we could have the ceremony, all areas seem quite open to public/on the beach around a lot of people. Have any of you had a ceremony (we have around 50 people) in an area u weren't swarmed with people ? Lol
  5. Just got email back from resort about my inquiry with restaurant options for 50 people, etc. (responses from them are in red) 1. For a dance reception location only (i.e. not having supper), what would we be looking at for cost? you can purchase a cocktail party on the beach for 2 or 3 hours attached you will find the options for your review. I.e. if we had the reception dinner in a restaurant and then wanted to have a dancefloor set up on the beach for example, how much would we be looking at a for several hours of music/alcohol service? acrylic dance floor of 5.00 mts x 5.00 mts, cost $1,600.00 usd , a wooden dance floor cost you $1,150.0 usd approx. DJ cost you from $650.00 usd from 2 to 4 hours to more. - We would likely opt for renting the music equipment and would have 2-3 hours of dancing. 2. If we did restaurant dinner, what restaurant would you suggest in your resort for up to 50 people? for more than 40 guest we can not accomodate in one of the restaurants a la carte, in this case I recomend you to purchase a private party with supper included the cost you will find it in the following attachement Or in the other hand dinning in one of our buffet restaurants in a semi-private area, with no charge. Would the restaurant be fairly private for our dinner, and would we be able to have speeches there?not Im sorry, at the restaurant a la carte we can not accomodate more than 40 guest, and is a shared area with other hotel guest, where you can not make any speeches, or first dance, or garter throwing or bouquet throwing. So basically I am being told that we need to fork out 100 per person because we have over 40 people for dinner? I am thinking some bargaining is gonna have to happen here....
  6. Thank you guys so much for the suggestions! I had seen several brides doing the reception dance only in the lounge/in front of the lounge, but didn't know how much it cost. So 2 hrs at front of chillout lounge will be set up with dancefloor (how much $$$ was this BTW?) and chairs for people who want to sit. $25 pp. Great to know the audio equip rental is 560; we may opt for no DJ. For those of you who did do a DJ, what was cost? So Ipod hook up is available. Hmm for 50 people I am not sure if ours would need more volume etc. (?) QUESTION ABOUT HAVING BEACH-TYPE RECEPTION (i.e. in front of chill out lounge) - I saw a few pages back somewhere that the bugs were bad on the beach itself. Should we worry about being eaten alive at night for the dance part? So through all this babbling, here are my questions lol 1. Restaurant suggestions for around 50 people, and whether we can do speeches, etc there. 2. Cost of dancefloor 3. Cost of DJ 4. BUGS on beach an issue? Thanks everyone!
  7. Hi all Canadian brides to be (or past brides!) I am wondering how you guys have made out with finding suits for your men and their groomsmen. My fiancé tried on some suits this weekend (we are planning a wedding for early-ish 2014) at Mexx, etc. and it got me thinking about how others may have found this process! I was pretty thrilled he wanted to try on stuff so early, love it! Anyways, how did you guys go about choosing your suits? I found that a lot of the regular stores (e.g. Moores, Tip Top, etc) don't have tons of light colored suits (e.g. beige/light grey) and was wondering about ordering online, etc. Also, did you ladies have a preference for what color the groom wore? My fiancé was thinking beige/linen color but I know he may change his mind on this. I guess I just wanted to see how other people also went about discussing the whole suit idea!

  9. Great to know thank u!!! My sis in law (soon! Lol) highlighted this as well; we just ordered 8 samples from WPD; yay for progress! Lol
  10. Hey Dina!!!! That is great to hear and I keep hearing that This is biggest hurdle!! We r slowly getting there. Our TA is getting quotes and we were awaiting more. Companies are fighting for our business so it's GAME ON! Lol. We narrowed down potential weeks, along with top 10 resorts... It's tested my patience but I know this is the best way to make sure we get the best deal!! How did u find choosing ur resort was?
  11. Has anyone had a wedding/is anyone plannig one where u ARE NOT using the chill out lounge and instead using the restaurant dinner that is included in the wedding packages? If so, did u organize a dance floor party somewhere after the dinner in the restaurant? I would love to have dinner and reception party in CO lounge but 100 per person will be too much for us (with around 40-50 guests). My hope though is that we would still be able to have a dance after the restaurant dinner, so if any of you have organized this instead of chill out lounge for whole night, plz share THANKS!
  12. I believe my response from them came much later; probably a week from when I emailed her;)
  13. So you are so helpful, thanks so much for your clear and thorough response!!!!!! I am really hoping this option may work for us! Do u happen to recall what cost was associated with ur dancefloor and music (or did u do an iPod?).
  14. Miss Jali, LOVE THIS DRESS, suits you so well! (not that I know you, but you know what I mean lol)
  15. I am so jealous of you ladies wearing high heels - I want to wear them but I am 5'10 1/2 and will definitely tower over my man with those things! I've worn them plenty next to him (we are same height) but on wedding day, don't wanna show the guy up lol!
  16. For the lovely ladies that used the CHILL OUT LOUNGE - can you fit a light up dancefloor and dj in the seating area? I thought I saw some pics where they fit the floor right in front of the main table, but wanted to check. We'd love a reception area where we can dance the night away!
  17. yahoo! I went to search which resort u were visiting, saw barcelo??? Which one? Yay!
  18. Yes this is the one I had first seen and loved how the fence kind of created privacy! Thank u SO MUCH! I may email the resort about max capacity, this area looks small for guests.
  19. Hi RivieraMayaBum! Thank you for these details! I saw that in the pics, and wondered about the photographers being in the way in order to get lots of good pics. So you did the riviera side gazebo? What about the other wooden gazebo on the other sunset side; would this hold 40-50 people you think? I am concerned about something too close to the beach (sunset gazebo you said???) in that having people super close to the wedding is not something I want lol. I love the idea of a beach wedding, but when it's in a wide open area, chances are we will have people swarming.
  20. Our dresses were 40 each for the ladies (4 of them) - they bought them themselves. I plan on having a few special items for them at the resort as gifts.
