  1. These are really nice! And to think Publisher did that. Hrm....makes me want to take a stab at this now. Your work is inspiring - you should go into business after your wedding day - which by the way is only 24 days away. But I'm sure you knew that lol. Congrats - and enjoy your day!
  2. Oh...hit enter too soon! Save the dates are going out next week. Invites will be out by June 1. We are inviting 40 ppl and expect most to come. I am having a hard time figuring out what to do for the oot. But hoping inspiration strikes soon What colors is everyone doing? We are going bright: purple and teal!
  3. I'm getting married January 25, 2014 in Naples, FL. It's not as far as a destination on most here - but it's a destination for me
  4. I did just set up my hidden boards - great minds think alike! I have a friend who said they saw my ideas on Pinterest and then started going into why I shouldn't use Pinterest for anything. I decided the hidden boards would keep the outside opinions to a minimum
  5. The FI and I have decided on La Vie En Rose by Edith Piaf. But we are having a friend record herself singing the song with French and English sections. We wanted a soloist and this is the best way we could think of having her sing without having her come to our DW:)
  6. This is a great thread! I am in the beginning stages of planning and hadn't thought about this too much. Now that the brain is turning - I think I will end up paying for their dresses. They are going to be traveling and such - the least I can do. I will only have 3 to pay for (1 MOH and 2 BMs). Plus, my MOH (my sister) is bringing my nephew. I'll have to buy a little man suit too What about the guys - are you also buying their outfits? Or paying the rentals? I was thinking maybe I'll buy the ties...not sure. Lots to think about...
  7. We are inviting about 42 and think that most will join us as our wedding is still in the States. Since both of us have very large families - we decided that outside out immediate family - we weren't going to invite anyone else. Just close friends. That way no feelings end up hurt. Invites will get sent out shortly - we will see if we guessed right about the attendance.
  8. I'm with you! We are planning a January 2014 wedding and are almost engaged. The ring is bought, and making its way to my finger While I love being able to get a head start - I am even more thankful that my better half is all the way on board with a DW. I love all this planning and crafting that I have planned. Pinterest is also amazing. If I could do my early adult life over - I'd become a wedding planner lol.
  9. I agree - these forums are priceless and so useful! There are a few reasons we decided to have a DW: 1) Cost - we knew we could keep within our small budget if we went away. 2) I am originally from Wisconsin but now live in Philadelphia. My fiance is from Philly. We knew that if we had a wedding in Philly or Wisco - one of us wouldn't have everyone there. Just didn't seem right. So - we decided to cut the list down and go somewhere warm! 3) I have never liked huge weddings. Even as a kid - I begged my parents to get me a babysitter rather than go to a wedding. Plus, at the end of the day - the most important thing is that I am married to my Prince Charming. The people I treasure most will be there and it will be a blast
  10. I am thinking of having my DW at Club Med Sandpiper in Florida. My question is - how many of you have visited your destination of choice prior to your wedding or before even booking? We aren't sure if it is in our budget to take a trip down there before our wedding - but I feel like I am going in blind. I would love to hear from anyone who visited first and those who didn't. Things I should know, etc etc. Thank you!

  12. I am considering having my 2014 wedding at Sandpiper as well. Thank you for recapping the wonderful experience you had. Lmickwee - did you end up deciding on Sandpiper? If so - when is/was your wedding? I'd love to hear your experience as well. The more I hear the more comfortable I am booking this without ever seeing it. The control freak in me is tough to quiet down
