  1. Hey girls - I am looking at planning my DW and looking into the Atlantis. I am curious to know how much everyone's wedding is coming out and how much you can change their menus and things like that. Anyone have their wedding already have any reviews??
  2. I heard May/June is high season for wedding in T&C. Also, I heard from someone who went to a wedding in T&C that it was SO EXPENSIVE for the guests. She said it cost her and her husband $60 to take a cab to and from dinner one night.
  3. have you considered an AI in the DR? we were looking at majestic elegance in punta cana and it was super affordable. right now we've put planning on a pause.
  4. Oh ok, I totally understand what you mean by that. It's good to know though that since they are a big franchise, you might not be getting the same service as you would elsewhere. I didn't really even think about that. That's a shame.
  5. BTW, your dress is beautiful and it really shows off a nice figure and small waist!
  6. That is a good point, I could always do the TTD shoot on the beach...
  7. BTW - I find it interesting that May is considered the off-season for Negril, yet is a very high season for T+C... something to consider I suppose. I'm my BFF"s MOH and she is getting married July 5th, 2013, with her honeymoon in Europe sometime that summer. I feel like I cannot pick a date before her wedding and I cannot do it in the summer because that might be too much for her with her honeymoon. That's why I've pushed it into Nov, since it's still the off-season for tons of places, Thanksgiving is a time people won't need to take any vacation days, but the weather should be nice because it's the end of hurricane season. If I push it into Dec, we're looking at people either taking time off or us going into the high season when everything is DOUBLE the price. Eek! Decisions!
  8. Congratulations on booking your resort/venue! I've seen tensing pen and it has REALLY good reviews on tripadvisor (my go-to hotel-booker). Negril looks beautiful and my friends went their on their honeymoon and loved it. While the cliffs are wonderful and amazing, I've always dreamed of an actual beach wedding and I wonder if I will regret not doing a beach. I'm not sure I will because the pictures I've seen of weddings in Negril have been AMAZING. Clearly, I'm just very indecisive! I just want to island hop and have my wedding at all these locations!!!
  9. We have looked at a lot of different islands. We're very excited to do something different and unique. I think the question is the amount of money we can spend. If it's not much, an All Inclusive will have to be the way we go. If we have more in our budget, I think we can do something a bit more expensive, like T+C or another small island. And, we have to see how much it will cost our guests and how much we're willing to ask them to spend. It's crazy how much airfare changes from one island to the next!
  10. I will definitely contact Ocean Club and Ocean Club West. Thank you!
  11. Wow, thank you SO much for all that information. I never really considered how hard it might be to plan a DW, but picking an island alone has proven difficult, let alone a resort! It sounds like your wedding is going to be lovely, I hope you have a blast!!
  12. LOL I was told a wedding salon that all bridal gowns are designed for 5'9 women. I'm 5'2.. that's a HUGE difference haha
  13. I like yours even better than the newer sparkly ones that came out. I LOVE the cuff around the ankle. HOT!
  14. You're right and it's also about what you want, not just about saving money. I wouldn't want to spend $10k on a wedding here in NY even if it was the equivalent of a $40-50k wedding because it's not what I want! And I think a lot of people do a destination wedding because it's a different theme/style that they're looking for. So, we just have to search and find something in our budget that we love. I'm sure it exists, even if it means changing dates. PS-I live in Queens!
  15. Thanks so much for your response!! I can't believe I left out the detail of how many people. We're looking at about 30 guests. We want to do a welcome dinner (maybe the beach on the bbq by the kissing fish?) and the wedding/reception, all paid for by us. We also want to do an excursion, but I'm assuming not everyone will join in on that, plus that's just a maybe -- if we have extra in our $10k budget. The budget is not inclusive of our own vacation, we would pay for that separately, outside of our wedding budget. And we wouldn't be paying for any of our guests's travel expenses. Overwhelming is an understatement! My FI and I can't even decide on an island! I love Provo, I think it's gorgeous and the beach is amazing. But, he likes Negril. And the possibilities in the caribbeans is endless! Why would you suggest not doing Thanksgiving??
  16. I got some information from them, but they are mighty expensive. The cheapest room is $550/night all inclusive for 2 people. Or, if they don't do all inclusive, it's the $200 but I have to pay $125/pp. That's more expensive than expensive weddings during wedding season here in NY! It sucks because the place looks beautiful, so I'm sure it's worth every penny, just out of my budget at this point.
  17. I'm going to go ahead and agree with the other poster and do some sort of barefoot jewelry for the ceremony. Not sure what your reception is. I always wanted to do barefoot on the sand and then switch to strappy sandal heels (in blue to match my colors) for the reception. But if I see something that makes me think is perfect for that dress, I'll let you know!
  18. How many rooms total do they have? Essentially, I'm asking how many guests would you need to book the entire hotel??
  19. I'm a Bride looking to have a wedding on Nov 30, 2013. This happens to be Thanksgiving weekend. We will have approximately 30 guests joining us. We would like for our guests not to have to pay too much for the entire weekend. If it is AI, we'd like to stay around $250-300/night per couple. If not an AI, then closer to $150-200 per couple. For flights, a majority of us will be flying out of the NY/NJ area (with access to LGA, JFK, EWR and the Phili Airport) and would like to stay around $350-500 on flights. Our budget is $10,000 for the wedding, including everything but our own travel and hotel. We will probably stay a full week to a week and a half. Thankfully, the end of Nov is a low season, but I want to make sure the weather is still good no matter where we book. We are open to ANY venue in the Caribbean and Central America. We have looked at almost every location and cannot come to a decision. We love Negril because of the beautiful cliffs. We love Turks and Caicos because of the gorgeous beaches. What we know we definitely want is a 4-5star hotel, something very clean and updated, for our guests, but we don't want a large AI. We really don't want the feel of getting lost, we want this to be an intimate affair with our closest friends and family. So, nothing like Beaches, Couples, Riu, Occidental, etc. I feel like no one has gone back and forth more than we have. Originally, we were set on Negril, but had tons of trouble finding something beautiful, affordable, and that had availability. We changed course and decided on a large AI in Punta Cana (Majestic Elegance), but then decided that we didn't really like the large AI idea and went with T+C. I got pricing for some of resorts on T+C and even though some of them are affordable, the flights are expensive and from what I understand, having a wedding there is double our budget because the island is so expensive. Now we're looking at Negril again... Anyone with similar budgets and interests out there? Anyone who already had a wedding or is planning a wedding with advice to help me pick? Clearly, I really need help!! Thanks in advance!
  20. ProvoBride in 2013 -- did anyone pick a DJ - price and was he good/bad?
