  1. Words of Wisdom: Don't worry about a thing!!! I planned a lot, but also forgot a lot. For the things that I forgot to make decisions on, the wedding coordinators made decisions for me, and they chose everything beautifully. They know what brides need and want and really take the stress out of the day. I did a lot of extras that I really liked and would recommend, but the ONE thing that I think made a big difference was the chair sashes. I watched a lot of weddings when I was down there and I think the ones with chair sashes really stood out. The resort sashes are, in my opinion, a little outdated. Also they are silver or gold and I prefer something that pops more when you are by the water and on the beach. But obviously not necessary, the wedding will be beautiful without them too!
  2. We were going to do "This Year's Love' by David Grey, which is an amazing song, but decided to keep it more 'fun' and are playing " Kiss the Girl" by Steve Tyrell, from the little mermaid.
  3. I leave tonight at midnight! Does anyone have anything that you want me to look into, or take pictures of, while I am down there?
  4. I emailed them and just waited until they got back to me. Took around a week to hear back. I've heard people get faster responses by calling but I donno the number.
  5. haha this is a huge question. Your date is only reserved at the one resort, the Beach, not the Suites or the Grand. They are entirely separate wedding departments. To switch, you just cancel with one and book with the other, but it may be reserved at the other. There are price differences for the wedding packages and options at the different resorts. The grand is the most expensive to stay at, and the most luxurious. Then the Suites, then the Beach.
  6. I would definitely reserve the date right away too. You can change it at any point without penalty or fee. But dates fill up fast, so better to have your name on one!
  7. I made tip holder/ room key holders, but the plastic holders could easily be used for luggage tags. I bought from ebay and it shipped to Canada: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/25-Business-ID-Card-Badge-Holder-w-Zipper-Vertical-ZV-/130489995128?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1e61cf4f78&_uhb=1#ht_2697wt_988
  8. I bought from Delica and have since sent a couple friends there who have all bought their dresses there too. Just don't use their tailor since they are way overpriced.
  9. I made them per couple, and for the single people, they each got their own. We spent about $8/person averaged, but I think in retrospect I would have gotten less. I just found the fun stuff after I'd already bought other stuff hehe. If I could go back in time, I would only have bought the sunglasses and the Factory 21 Mugs.
  10. I am flying West Jet, and it sounds like they are very strict. I am bringing my dress as carry-on, but that counts as the only carry-on that I am allowed. Plus it doesn't sound like it gets a special compartment anywhere, it has to be crammed with other people's stuff Our plane is sold out too so hopefully the other passengers are sympathetic. Haha then again, 78 of the 120 person flight are my guests, so hopefully no problems lol.
  11. It comes with white fabric but I'm going to try red. May not like it but I'll see when I get there. From table clothes factory.com, same place as I got the chair sashes.
  12. I dont think I'm going to do a planning thread lol I will post a big review on the resort I'm going to, but I think I've given all my advice and plans on these threads already. My fiance and I will both have our own luggage, and then him, I, and 3 other guests will each bring a second suitcase. This is b/c Jamaica has a maximum of 2 suitcase allowance per person (and second case costs $20). I am bringing down favours for everyone: -guest room list -OOT bags [rubber duck coasters, mini flashlight, room key/ tip holders, tylenol, Emergen-C, heart shaped note pad, band-aids, wet naps, mini water gun] -sun glasses for everyone -cookie cutter favours -Beer Koozies I also have Factory 21 mugs for everyone. We handed about half of those out at xmas, but didn't end up seeing a lot of the people we had intended to so still have about 45 to bring down to Jamaica. Other things: -raffia fans -chair sashes; table runners; fabric for arch -shells, starfish, and diamonds for table decor -tissue paper flowers for table decor -t-shirt prizes for games throughout the week Personal things beyond the usual: -dress, veil, jewelry, shoes for me on the wedding day -shirt, pants, belt, shoes, hat for him on the wedding day -walkie-talkies to find eachother on the resort -water shoes for climbing the falls (on sale for $5 at Walmart right now, in the shoes area) -snorkling stuff -bouquet and boutoneires -floaty mattresses -waterproof camera Im sure I've forgotten some things, but I'll repost my packing list when I'm done
  13. I have all my decor and favours packed and weighed. 5 extra suitcases lol better than I expected! 13 days until I leave
  14. At the 3 month Mark they send you the documents to fill out, they still don't answer questions any faster or any more helpfully haha. I can send them to you now if you want, just send me your email address. I am at the Beach resort.
  15. I'm not sure if there was a faster option, but I think the 14th is pretty tight. DHGate warned me that there is a 3 day holiday starting today, and then it took a few days to process the order even before it shipped.
  16. Sorry to hear about that!!!! But you did remind me of this thread. I finished off my homemade real-touch bouquet and here is a pic of it. Flowers from Michaels and Chintz in Edmonton. Other supplies: floral tape ($2), ribbon $30 (probably could have gotten it wayy cheaper but bought the whole spool and the florist tied it). That's about it!
  17. Yes, Sorry I mixed those things up. From USA, I almost always either have to pay either duty, taxes, or fees from the shipping company to get it through the border. From China I never pay any of those.
  18. As to the packing list, thanks!! I don't think I had seen that one before. To add, I am planning on splitting 2 suitcases with some of my clothes and some of my fiances clothes in each suitcase, in case one gets lost. We have a 4 hour lay over in Toronto and I'm terrified that half our bags are going to go missing.
