  1. Thanks for this Jenna! I will keep an eye out for these here in Canada- I love that they're self-laminating! Hey Jenny, I hear you, and I don't know if this is going to make you feel better, but I have Amanda as one of my WCs as well and it usually takes 7-10 days for me to get a response (same thing for my 2nd WC as well). I was anxious about it in the beginning, but I've let it go now. I try to stack all my questions and number them when I do email my WC's. The nice thing about this forum is that it answers some of my questions that I don't have to wait a response from the WC for!
  2. Thanks for the tip! The recipe I found is on the Martha Stewart website for Lemon Drop Champagne Punch: Ingredients 3 lemons, room temperature 1/2 cup sugar 1 bottle (750 milliliters) Champagne, chilled 3/4 cup best-quality vodka, chilled 4 ounces candied lemon peels Directions With a vegetable peeler, remove zest from each lemon in a long, continuous spiral. Juice lemons, and strain pulp (you should have 3/4 cup juice). Set aside. Heat sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring until sugar has dissolved. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat. Add zest. Let syrup cool completely, about 2 hours. Pour Champagne, vodka, lemon juice, and syrup into a punch bowl; stir. Serve glasses of punch with candied peels.
  3. I went searching for the last list of wedding dates, and it took awhile to find. Thought I'd repost- sorry if it is not the most up to date! Dori exactly 1 week to go for you! Hooray!!! 4. Josephine, cute straws and place cards!!! I saw that idea on Martha Stewart Weddings- that woman has the best ideas; I wish I could have her plan my wedding! After spending a bit of time on the website last night, I found a cocktail recipe I like and that will go with our colours (ivory, champagne and gold)- Lemon Drop Champagne Punch. Now I just have to come up with a cute wedding/love themed name...any suggestions? Dori, that is ridiculous! Sounds like Delta is just as out of it as Lomas is!!! You think they would have a policy for special circumstances like weddings- I am thankful Sunwing does! Is anyone doing luggage tags for your guests? Any recommendations on where to purchase the clear holders from? Thanks!!!
  5. Happy Monday ladies!!! So after many months, I have FINALLY read through every single post in this thread from the very beginning! I feel like I should give myself a prize, haha Anyone thinking of doing a signature drink for your cocktail hour/reception? Any recipe suggestions?
  6. Ooops, not Tejani, but Nadri jewellery!
  7. Hopefully there are more than just the 3 of us Edmonton brides here! No AHR for me... If you're looking for jewellery, The Bay carries the line Tejani, and they make beautiful crystal pieces that are perfect for a wedding! Oh and Papyrus in Southgate is currently having a 20% off sale on personalized items (ie. invitations, napkins, glasses, etc).
  8. JennyBenz super cute invites! Nicely done!!! DawnDean, my WC just emailed 2 days ago to let me know that at Zocalo Terrace no buffets can be done due to the size- so only plated dinners either from the Set menu or the Pick & Choose menu.
  9. Hey there! Don't feel depressed! All that matters is you and your FI Are you getting married at Azul Sensatori?
  10. Thanks for sharing Elaine! I'd really like flowers on my cake but looks like the cake decorator's skills at the resort are maybe a tich subpar, and real flowers cost a fortune, so this may be a possibility, hooray!
  11. Anyone have a recommendation for a store/website for cake decorating accessories? I was hoping for white flowers, but I don't want to pay what I'm sure is an outrageous fee for real flowers through Lomas!
  12. Murmel, do you by chance have any of pics of the jewellery you bought while in Mexico? I'm sure it is beautiful, I'm just trying to get a sense of the style
  13. Hi there! I am in the exact same situation with my FI living in another province (we will actually likely have to live apart for up to a year even after we get married, but I digress...). I addressed my STD's with the return address as my current address, and plan to do so for the wedding invitations and RSVPs as well. If there are etiquette rules for this scenario, I am not aware, but even if there are, I think that in today's day and age it's something that's fair to ignore! Just my two cents
  14. On another note, what are you ladies planning on doing for BM gifts? And what is your budget for them? I initally budgeted $100 per girl- I really want to pay for their hair to be done, but the current budget wouldn't allow for much more...hmm...
  15. Who did you fax in your contract and authorization for the $200? I would guess that that person would be your WC....or at least was in my situation I would love to help out because I love this type of thing, haha! What are your colours? Your theme or effect you're going for? Where is your reception being held? I will try to help out based on your answers! to the forum!!! You will love it here- it is a wealth of information and helpful tips
  16. Hi there! I was quoted $15 per person for a smores bonfire on the beach, which is for a 2 hr event. If I can squeeze it into my budget I definitely want to have one. Amanda (Mnd3A) made it sound like it was a really great event during her wedding week. Who are all your girls' WC's? I have Valeria Martinez for the ceremony part of my wedding at El Dorado Maroma and Amanda Patek for reception planning and all other events at the Azul Sensatori.
  17. Amanda, I have two quick questions for you... Did you have a choice between DJ All Music and Mega DJ from the Lomas website? The reason I ask is because there is a $500 difference between them! Also, did you feel like you had enough lighting for your smores bonfire event? Thanks so much! ~Tamara~
  18. I also really wanted to do a sky lantern release for my wedding at the end of the reception!!! Unfortunately I was told they are not allowed because they pose a potential fire risk. At first I was irritated because I wanted to do it on the beach, so I didn't think it would be a problem, but I guess if it floats off in the wrong direction it could pose a ton of problems. What I came up with instead is to give each guest a heart sparkler at the end of the night- for this I'm not going to ask because there is no fire potential with these!
  19. Congratulations Sharon on your wedding & marriage!!! Your pictures are amazing, and you looked beautiful on your special day! Picture #41 looks like it could be in a magazine advertising destination weddings!
  20. That would be absolutely incredible! Great idea!!!
  21. Congratulations Amanda!!! You looked beautiful on your day! So glad that you had an amazing wedding- I guess a few glitches are to be expected in Mexico, but sounds like they were minor. I hope you're enjoying married life now! Can't wait to see your pro pics, as well as if you have any of your smores/bonfire event, as I am hoping to have one as well. What time did your event start at?
  22. Thank you ELAINENYC! Looks like all our May brides are now married ladies, congrats! 2ndtimesacharm, how are your June wedding plans coming along?
