I am chosing a symbolic ceremony as well. Per my TA a legal ceremony in Punta Cana is the biggest hassle and costs much more. Along with finding the judge, the paperwork is insane. I do not have a problem getting married right before we go and then doind the symbolic at the resort...no one needs to know. :-) The 2 resorts I am looking at still require you there at least 2 days before the ceremony for a symbolic wedding just to be able to stragihten out all of the details for your wedding. I believe it is the resosrts discretion on how many days you should be there for a symbolic ceremony, I would ask the WC as NOW. Hope this helps!

I went to that site, picked out the monograms but I cannot seem to find the place to preview them. I alos think I chose free ones but it still wants my paypal account. So confused.

I am a little behind on understanding how all of this DIY stuff works. Once you buy the monogram, how do you use just 2??

Flights for January 2013 are not out yet but my TA said to expect anywhere from 500-750 per person for flights...she said there is no rhyme or reason why they jump up and down but if she gets a good deal, we will be locking in right away!

I have been hearing rumors about Palace no longer even owning this hotel as of this month. I wonder what that means for wedding packages?!? Let us know what you find out. If I find out anything I will also post.

I am still in the stages of picking a hotel (that is the HARDEST part!!! lol) but this website has helped me more than any TA or travel website. A $30 cover charge and you have to pay for drinks when you are already paying for all-inslusive?? This hotel is going further down my list. It is one of the more expensive places to stay at and if you do not have 75 booked nights, I am really not seeing the price as worth it. The more reviews I read, the morned turned off I get it. I really wanted to love it here too. :-( Still have it on my list, but it's defintiley not at the top anymore. What a rip.

I agree with you on that one! Maybe do not plan an excursion in advance but when you get there ask people if they would like to join you on one? That might work. I know I will be asking people if they would like to do one prior to the wedding with us. I also know my family and friends would not expect us to pay for that either. (We will be paying for the bridal party if we have one though). Like I said on my website, we are inviting you to go on vacation with us, just think of our wedding as an extra special bonus on your vacation. LOL. T

Flights are definitley cheaper after Spring Break, everything is cheaper before and after!

That was a great idea to go to a hotel that does not allow student groups! Then you can still have the week you want. I think changing it from March to April 6th will also save you quite a bit of money on the flights. Like hundreds of dollars! I hope that is the case for you. :-)

I am planning on Janaury 25th 2013, just waiting on the pricing from my TA. What made you chose the Majestic Colonial? After sitting down with my TA my resort choices have changed. LOL. They keep changing! I also want to do the boarding pass invitations but will not be sending those out until the flights prices are out, which for January will not be until Mid-March. Were the boarding passes easy to make?? I love the DIY aspect that everyone on here has done, what do you have planned to do? Sorry so many questions. :-)

That is what I know, the month, the island, and I have already made a website. I have not sent out any STD's yet because I thought you needed a date. LOL. Everyone is telling me to just do them electronically "you're going away anyway what does it matter", and that makes me sad. I may not be having your "standard, traditional AH wedding" but I still want things to be formal and nice. I know I know, I am letting people get to me already!

I have not tried to bring in an outside photgrapher but when I 1st received an email from the Wedding Coordinator they said that aboslutely no outside vendors without a fee. I feel $500 for each is VERY extreme. It would be cheaper to book them a room that day!!! Besides that, how are the rest of your plans going? What package did you pick? I am undecided still on my hotel but Excellence is #1 so far, just trying to sort out how much it will cost and if anything is complimentary from past brides.

After visitin with my TA Excellence is now on my list of resorts I am interested in. And boy..I am VERY interested. I love this place! Any opinions on it? From what I have seen, it may be a bit pricier but not much, BUT you the luxury is unbeatable for the price. And I have heard weddings are amazing here. I like that it is adults only as well. Any information would be GREAT! Thank you in advance! I am on my way to the review area right now!

I thought that $255 per person seemed high too. Especially when you are asking people to come to your wedding. I am waiting to hear from my TA to see what deals she may know. Still keeping other resorts in my options now.

I wonder how quotes are being made with arifare, when airfare prices do not go out until 330 days the date you look. I am getting married in January 2013 and the airfare is not out yet. From what I have heard and what I have quoted from this year...Hard Rock will be at least $2000pp for 7 days. My travel agent said Hard Rock does not have their pricing out yet for next year either. The hotel may e-mail you pricies but they are not guaranteed. Am I being told the wrong thing? So confusing... :-(

I think the flexibility and understanding will be key in planning this destination wedding! So very true!
