  3. So I finally feel apart of the thread now!! I have officially booked my photographer & DJ!!! I am beyond excited to work with Ivan from Luckie Photography and Discomovil!! I have my first appointment on Sunday to try on dresses !!!!!! & i CANT wait!!!!Now I just have to finish up my website and send out my STD's.

  5. i recently asked the same question on here. I was going through the same issues and exactly when I told my guests a lot of them agrred that a Friday wedding would be better this way they have a day to rest before leaving. I have since changed it with the resort. worked out perfect!
  6. Hey ladies I wanted some advice. I have my wedding booked for Saturday, May 4th. My WC at the hotel stated I need to be there Wednesday or Thursday the latest. All my guest have requested 5 night packages from my TA. I wanted to travel in with them so that would leave us Wednesday-Sunday or Thursday-Monday. Before I make a definite choice, I was wondering what some of you though would be more accommodating? If I start asking my bridal party what they think would be better, Ill get a hundred different answers. If the wedding is on a Saturday and we have to leave Sunday, I don't think that will be much fun for my guest. I also see people complaining about missing another work day if I chose Thursday-Monday. ahhhh this is so frustrating! I see a lot of May brides getting married on a Saturday, What are your travel arrangements? I was also thinking of maybe changing my date to Friday?

  8. Hey I'm just wondering, when is your wedding? and how far long after signing your contract were you able to reserve your location? Ive found a lot of pictures on this forum, just search up top for coral grill, it will tag you to posts about the coral grill. Hopefully that will help you see the location. It looks nice from the pictures. I never visited Barcelo.

  10. Thanks I appreciate everyones responses. The majority of the people do know about the destination wedding as it is, we haven't stopped talking about it. As I speak to the TA about the "group rates" and everything else I would just like to be reassured we have the amount of people we think we are having and it would also help me get over the no's faster hahaha Whats good about having a destination wedding, the std's dont have to be traditional, so people probably wouldn't even think twice about rsvp'ing so early in advance. I know a year is a long time to commit as a lot of things can change but I am a little nervous about waiting to book and reserve my guest later on. I'd rather have at least some deposits made.

  16. Another question: to the ladies who were able to have their reception at Playa Azul, can you share with me how you were able to secure that location? Do you have to have a certain amount of people or a certain package? I keep emailing my WC Claudia requesting that location but she never responds to that question. She answers all other questions. I'm a bit nervous about securing that location, one of the many reasons I picked Barcelo Maya Palace, as I'm getting married at 6PM that day and I feel like I will be the last one to have "my pick" at the locations. Anyone have any advice? Thanks
  17. Awesome review! Looks like you used a lot of outside vendors. Did you have to pay day passes or fee to have the dj and makeup artist? I know you paid for the generator. Thanks for clarifying that. No daypasses were required for anybody, however, even though I gave my WC the names of every company and the names of the people, my photographer was stalled a little bit while security called to check. Photographer - $300 outside photography fee to Kodak (now $500 I think) Videographer- no fee (they were part of the $300 Kodak fee) DJ - no fee but had to either a)pay $100/hour to Barcelo for electricity or b)rent a generator from the dj for $200 Makeup- no fee charged to me but on the wedding day my WC showed up with a slip to charge 30% of his fee to my room. I had already paid in full on the trial day so Adrian gave me the cash back to cover it. Barcelo takes 30% from whatever he charges to brides because he takes so much business from the hotel. This is fairly new so I'm not sure if Adrian is increasing his prices now I also had to provide dinner for all that stayed through dinner 7in total. 3 videographers 2 photographers and 2 djs. Keep that in mind cause that added a few hundred dollars to our budget line. I just seated them at a table at the back together. Thanks!!! I didn't even think about that! Thanks so much for the heads up. I sent an email to adrian I'm waiting for his price list. They were very quick to send me a response asking how many people I had in my bridal party and etc but now I haven't heard back from them :/
