  1. Hey girls! I'm confused! I am going to have the Steel Drum Band for the ceremony. Do I still need to choose this music? I thought the band would just play before/during/after. For the hour or whatever. But regular music is played too? :S
  2. We're also planning on doing the music ourselves using an ipod and Bose speaker! Haven't thought much about the music itself yet .. but I do know that we'll probably have some playlists set up. One for "during dinner", one for "Special dances", one for "dance party" .. etc... So that we can just play the playlist and no one has to worry too much about manning the ipod 24/7.
  3. Those that had their reception at the Blue Lagoon - did you have a seating chart or placecards? Or did you just have your guest sit wherever they wanted?
  4. Oh ReggaeDancin, look in the wedding section at Micheals for the fans. My store had plain wooden ones and wood ones with blue silk, which is my wedding colour! (Waves of Love).
  5. I wish I was going next month! Mine isn't until March 2012. You must be getting excited!!! I haven't done my mugs yet. I am debating between doing Bubba Mugs or the drink cups with straws. I'm mostly waiting until I have a final guest count closer to the new year. But either way, it's gonna be pretty pricy :S Have you tried local promo places? http://www.shopbubba.com/t-bulk.aspx http://www.debcosolutions.com/EN-US/category.aspx?sessionID=ff8df17d-941a-4593-b37a-663030fb2028&categoryGUID=66162deb-ccb0-423d-b300-a45a1dd180ca&categoryID=DA7321&categoryLevel=1 http://www.debcosolutions.com/EN-US/category.aspx?sessionID=ff8df17d-941a-4593-b37a-663030fb2028&categoryGUID=7aa93103-0362-40b8-8ed8-ef1ab00ee176&categoryID=DA8321&categoryLevel=1
  6. yeah!!! Thanks for posting. I just checked mine (Edmonton) and it's true! Well, it says "20 cents after savings" so hopefully it isn't some stupid rebate thing and they actaulyl are just 20 cents at the register.
  7. Yeah, and we'll probably only have about 20 rooms total. So I'd totally be willing to pay $40 to have the bags delivered. I just worry that some of them won't actually get delivered ... or staff will "help themselves" to something in the bags. Very untrusting, I know. But I wouldn't put it past most all-inclusive staff! (Again, the bad taste I have is from my Mexico experiences .. so I'm probably not being very fair to Jamaican AI staff).
  8. I was at Costco today (man, what a zoo!) and grabbed a big box of Ring Pops that I thought would be cute to add to the bags, since they're kind of wedding themed.
  9. Well I think if worse comes to worst, we will just find out what room everyone is in and hand deliver the bags and just say something like "we wanted you to be able to enjoy the wedding favours before the wedding" (since our big favour is the travel mugs, which will be in the bags). PS. I found some nice fans at Michaels today. $30 for a box of 18. (I'm sure there was a coupon I could have used but I forgot about that and was too lazy to go back lol). They come boxed individually in skinny little rectangular boxes so they won't take up too much space.
  10. Ok I just realized something haha. I am on the same flight as the majority of my guests. And I plan to assemble the bags once I get to my room. So it isn't possible to have them delivered to the guests' rooms when they check-in. But still ... I'd like the "surprise" factor of having them show up unexpectedly in their room at some point ....
  11. Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but how did everyone deliver their OOT bags at the Grand Palladium? We aren't going to be doing any kind of welcome dinner/meeting or anything. I think it will be very special and such a nice surprise for the guests to check in to their rooms and have the bags waiting for them. So that's definitely my first choice. But how much is it to have them delivered? (did anyone do that?) ... and can you trust them to actually get delivered? (I hate to say it .. but I have had a few bad experiences in the past, so I don't exactly trust all-inclusive staff .. however, my bad experiences were always in Mexico...). This might be something to ask Omeshia about, but I would love to hear firsthand from past GP brides!
  12. i know from my own experience whenever i am at an all inclusive, the poor room card and $1 bills always end up lost in my beach bag getting all sandy. so personally i know i would use it!
  13. love this thread! thanks everyone for sharing your fantastic unique ideas! i absolutely adore the idea of the CD with all the married guests' wedding songs.
  14. Does candy expire? I'm thinking of buying a bunch right after Halloween when all the Halloween candy is on sale. But our wedding is in March ... so will the candy be good by then?
  15. Kivon820, i LOVE your dress! And watched your video and started crying at the plane landing part, like 10 seconds in! haha.
  16. I'm so sorry that you and your guests were disappointed What a total bummer. Very disheartening to me.. but it's good for us future brides to know for sure, so we can hopefully avoid those problems. Will definitely take your advice on getting a guest relations contact for when Omeshia isn't there. But you're married!!! Congrats again I'm off to read your review!
  17. hdinsmor, You looked absolutely stunning!!! Your photos are beautiful! I'm so glad to hear that your ceremony was gorgeous and perfect! Boo to the other stuff though I had a feeling it might go down like that for most of us GPJ brides. It has been my main overall concern for myself and my guests. I have quite a few elderly people coming so I'm worried they will be waiting forever for shuttles etc. My fiance and I are basically "vouching" for the hotel by having our wedding there, and our guests will expect it to be fabulous. We stayed there in 2010 and had a wonderful time. But now I'm so worried it won't live up to our and our guest's expectations! We just want everyone to have a wonderful experience. hdinsmor, would you say that, overall, you and your guests had a positive or negative experience? I am normally a very controlling, micro-managing, stressed person! So to avoid any huge disappointment, I am trying to maintain the "no problem mon" attitude and just let things be how they will be. As far as the wedding, I am trying not to have any set expectations or have my mind/heart set on anything in particular. And I just hope that overall, it will be a fantastic experience for my fiance and I, and our guests! Looking very forward to reading your review and more pics!!!
  18. I've been dealing with Omeshia since day one (I sent in my wedding date request in July, my wedding is March 2012). She has been great so far, no complaints! She usually takes about 24-48 hours to get back to my emails.
  19. Thanks for sharing! Glad you got it all cleared up, phew! Definitely a relief that we can bring two checked bags!!! Between my 2 and my fiance's 2, for only $40, i think we'll have enough room to bring everything.
  20. BusyBee123, I think you're safe, their baggage policy is pretty clear on the website. But it might be different because you are booking through Sunquest Vacations instead of Westjet Vacations? ..... but you are still ultimately flying with Westjet .... hmm?? Otherwise you're going to have to get real creative .. Oy! Can anyone confirm to put us at ease? This is from Westjet's Website... Guests travelling to Montego Bay, Jamaica: You are permitted two checked bags, the second at a cost of $20. No third and fourth bag or overweight items will be permitted. You are not permitted any oversized bags, with the exception of one golf bag containing golf clubs. Maximum weight per checked bag is 23 Kg (50 lbs) Maximum size (length + width + height) is 157cm (62 inches)
  21. Have you guys been reading the recent reviews on Trip Advisor? For some reason I find it hilarious haha. The resort manager has a rebuttal to everything, even kind of nasty at times! Not professional .... worries me that if I have a bad experience, they won't take any responsibility! But for the most part, I know that the bad reviews are just bitter people ranting. We experienced a few minor issues when we stayed there in 2010 and they were just that, MINOR! We didn't let them ruin our vacation. If anyone wants to read my review that I wrote after we got back, it's here: http://www.tripadvisor.ca/ShowUserReviews-g147311-d1094847-r53874520-Grand_Palladium_Jamaica_Resort_Spa-Montego_Bay_Jamaica.html#CHECK_RATES_CONT
