  1. Can I just say - BeachBridein11, you are awesome! Your wedding has come and gone, and you're still here taking the time to help us out. THANK YOU!
  2. Sorry if this has already been posted, but I wanted to share the idea with anyone looking for a beachy wedding dress!! I was looking at wedding dresses today with my cousin and couldn't find what I was looking for because I wanted beachy and I wanted inexpensive. Not to mention, my wedding is in 7.5 months so I'm really pushing it for the dress to be ordered and come in on time. My cousin had the brilliant idea to look at bridesmaid dresses instead of wedding gowns. The salesgirl told us that 99% of the bridesmaid dresses come in white/ivory. So I tried a bunch on and found one that I love! And it's only $230! Yay!!! And bridesmaid dresses only take about 3-5 months to come in. So I'm totally fine for time. Bridesmaid dresses are just more flowy and way more in chiffon to give you a simpler, beachier look. More variety for that look, I found, than in the wedding gown section.
  3. Just booked the Grand Palladium Jamaica on March 26, 2012. Have stayed there before and absolutely loved it! Never thought in a million years we'd actually get married there!
  4. Did they send you 2012 package info? When they responded to me, they sent me 2011 package info .... I actually asked her about that and this was her response (in red): The brochure that you sent me is for 2011, can I assume that everything will be the same for 2012? (Prices, etc). The packages remains the same however some things may change. We start the planning process for your wedding at least 2 months before the date of the wedding.
  5. Turns out I panicked over nothing lol. I have communicated with her 2 or 3 times now and she has only taken about 24-48 hours to reply each time. But I was stressing because we really wanted to get our trip booked! We're going over Spring Break so we were worried about the prices going up and the flight booking up, etc. Anyway, we're officially booked! Trip and Wedding! YAY! Have you heard back by now?
  6. Great, I think I'm going to look into doing a legal ceremony at home. Just to avoid the extra paperwork...
  7. It sure does help, thanks!!! And you totally helped me nail down the terminology too lol, couldn't think of the right words. Legal vs Symbolic. Awesome, thank you! Do you know the paperwork involved with a symbolic ceremony? I'm sure it's minimal...
  8. Hey everyone! I'm planning on getting married in Jamaica and am a little confused about the 48 hour requirement. Some people I know who got married in Mexico opted to just get legally married at home first, in a civil ceremony at city hall or whatever. Then they just had a "fake ceremony" (I guess you'd call it?) for their wedding in Mexico. That was in order to avoid the paperwork, translations, costs, etc. So I have been reading that you need to be in Jamaica for 2 business days before you can get married. Does that apply if you have already been married at home by a justice of the peace? Or do they even allow that? Thanks ladies! I'm completely new to the forum and to destination weddings, so I appreciate your help and patience!!! I know this is also a question for my Wedding Coordinator, but she has yet to get back to me and I'm very anxious to book and get the date set!
  9. Hey ladies! I am recently engaged and have my heart set on a wedding at GPJ. My fiance and I have been there before and absolutely loved it. Yesterday, I went onto the palladium wedding site and submitted a request. I received an email saying that someone will be in contact with me (Nina). Do you know how soon after you submitted the request someone actually contacted you? I am anxiously waiting! And we would like to book the trip ASAP.
