  5. Hello brides-to-be, Does anyone have a picture of what the chairs at the Royal/Gran Caribe look like naked? I'm trying to decide whether to order chair covers and sashes for the ceremony, but I don't really like the look of their chair covers, so maybe I can just order sashes? I've also considered having some aisle decorations hanging from the side of the chairs but not sure if I'll be able to secure the decorations on the chairs since that will depend on the style of the chairs. (I've seen beautiful pictures of wedding ceremonies at both resorts but not sure if the style of the chairs have changed recently.) Thanks brides! P.S. If anyone would like a copy of the script for a symbolic wedding, just lemme know and I'll be glad to post it.
  6. Twoego... Your photos were amazing...a gorgeous bride on her wedding day. Thanks so much for posting. I love your style. =)
  7. welcome to Kingston, Krista lee ann =) Our wedding day is only 4 days apart. I get so excited whenever I wake up to a sunny day here cuz I'm imagining a sunny day at my destination. MJKH, thanks for posting what you found out regarding name changes. I haven't decided yet whether I'll be changing mine.
  8. Hi, I'm new to this thread. I live in Kingston, Ontario and I'm getting married on Apr 23, 2012 at the Royal Cancun in Mexico. Regarding the matter of having your wedding legally recognized in Canada after coming back home, what do I need to know? Will the marriage certificate issued in Mexico be enough for me to register for a marriage certificate here? And since the marriage certificate will be in Spanish, do I get that document translated here or should I have that done in Mexico? And I won't need to register for a marriage license in order to be married in Mexico, right? I already know that both the bride and groom must pass a blood test before they can be legally married in Mexico. I hope you ladies can help me clarify my confusion. Many thanks!
  9. Hi Vicky, I'm getting married at the Royal Cancun just one day after you. I've got a few questions for you if you've got the time. When you did you site visit, did you happen to glimpse any weddings take place in the gazebo? That's where I'll be having mine and I hear the location of it nearby to Pelicano's is not so private so I'm curious to know what you think of it. Have you gotten far in your wedding planning? I'm really just starting my whole planning process. I've yet to hire a photographer still, so yikes! And did you ever try the spa at the resort? Will you be trusting them to do your hair and makeup? It's nerve wracking to be planning from so far away. Happy planning and enjoy the holidays =)
  10. Ooh Chelsea, Thanks for those ideas. I'll definitely look into it. Beautiful picture of of the foot jewelery underwater btw. For any one looking into travel info/safety in Mexiso, I found this thread that may be helpful: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/thread/38173/issues-questions-concerns-safety-traveling-to-mexico-post-here (just cut and paste the above since I don't know how to add a link, sorry)
  11. Just wondering, is anyone spending an extra couple of days in Mexico for their honeymoon after their wedding? I figure since my FI and I will be on that side of the world, we may as well go out an explore it a bit. My biggest concern would be traveler safety. Anyone able to suggest some can't miss or cool places to visit? Thanks for any ideas =)
  12. RoyalBride610, First off, beautiful wedding pictures. I'm glad you and your hubby had a fantastic wedding day. I've got a quick question for you. I just booked my wedding day at the Royal Cancun yesterday for Apr 23 at 4pm at the gazebo. I'm expecting a group of ~14 people (including bride and groom) and I just worry that if we have a beach ceremony, the guests will get too hot and uncomfortable under the sun. From your experience of being there, is the temperature hot hot hot at 4pm? I also like the fact that the beach area where you were was not crowded, so bystanders won't be captured in your wedding photos. What is your opinion of the gazebo area? Yay or nay? It's so hard to make decisions from a distance. Any advice you could share on the matter would be greatly appreciate. =)
  13. Hey Gals, I'm in the same situation too. It's a bummer when lots of people say they'll be interested in coming knowing the prices and such since I was upfront with them about the costs and then having them back out when it's actually time to leave the first deposit. I still don't have my guestlist confirmed and the first deposit is due Aug 18th. Now I'm having trouble figuring out who with room with who, since I have an uneven number of guests and I don't want to throw a gal and a guy who have never met before into the same room for 7 nights. I had originally wanted one big party at my wedding (private reception with DJ and light-up dance floor) but now with just 13 people (hoping no one else backs out), that doesn't make much sense (and the Royal Cancun) won't even allow a private reception for such a small group. But regardless, I'm still determined to have a gorgeous beach wedding. I know we'll all have a positive experience regardless of who is actually able to attend. Just think of all the beautiful wedding pictures to be cherished for a lifetime. =)
  14. Maybe I've seen the Royal PDC thread at one time or another. Everything seems to blur together now since I jump around a lot by clicking on whatever catches my eyes. This website is really good. It's so helpful to exchange ideas with the other girls. I just booked my wedding date at the Royal Cancun. Still waiting for the WC to email me the contract.
  15. Thanks Deniden =) Have you picked out the flowers or colours for your wedding yet?
  16. Hi Stluciabound, Thanks so much for offering to help with your experience and the wedding kit. I've actually changed my mind and am instead planning a wedding in Cancun for April 2012 instead. You sound like a very lucky women having traveled to such wonderful places. Best wishes to you for your wedding. =)
  17. Ladies, I'm so glad I stumbled into this thread. The flowers pics here are amazing. I'm getting married at the Royal Cancun in Apr 2012, and I was just wondering whether anyone knows if that resort will charge me the full outside vendor fee of $350 if I choose to use an external florist. I understand them charging the fee if I invite in a photographer, but if I meet the florist at the gate? Royal Playa Del Carmen brides, any ideas? Thanks.
  18. Apolloniacreed, Thanks so much for posting the detailed price list. However, I've decided to switch and have my wedding at the Royal Cancun in Mexico instead. Happy planning with your wedding and all the GPLH brides. =)
  19. Congrats Labebita911 on booking your date. Geniem, my group will be flying out of Toronto and the quote I got back from our TA is $1549pp/dbl with Air Canada vacations as well. So hubby and I are upgrading to the Masters swim-up suite for $2113. I gotta scramble out the door to meet my girls for sushi (and getting my first wedding gift...super early, i know). I'll catch up with you later.
  20. Geniem, I just posted a message asking you about the size of your travel group, but that was before I read your earlier post (~20). Happy planning. Sounds like you have an awesome travel agent. Please share your secrets for better deals if you don't mind. =)
  21. Hey Geniem, I'm planning an April 2012 date to get married at the Royal Cancun. I'm just wondering how many guests you had to book with your CAA travel agent in order to get that awesome upgrade to first class for Air? Are you using Air Canada Vacations? I'm trying to finalize that pricing details so I can start booking my trip by the start of next week. Are you willing to share what sort of reduced pricing your travel agent was able to negotiate for you? Congrats to all Royal Cancun brides and brides-to-be =))) Cheers.
  22. Congrats Goddessluv4! I'm planning my wedding for 23rd April....2-3-4? (get it? haha) Lemme tell ya, I've been stressing so much to pick the perfect place for my FH and I to get married at. I was planning on Jamaica but have now decided on Mexico. I still gotta leave my deposit to book my wedding day, time and location, but I'll definitely be doing that soon. Have fun in your planning, =))))
  23. When Caroline made the first post to this thread to review her wedding at GPLH, the price of the steel drum band was $300/hr. I was just looking into the prices of the wedding options at GPLH and the price on the website is now $500/hr for the band. What a price increase. =( I'm considering having my wedding at this resort, does anyone know if the quoted prices are negotiable?
  24. Doesn't it feel like we're all detectives trying to solve the mystery of wedding options? Thanks for everyone's contribution...go team!
