  1. I never even considered lash extensions. After reading this thread I might try them out, especially if I can get a good deal!
  2. I will be using a tanning bed, I don't burn easily but I still won't be leaving anything to chance!! I'll get a nice tan at home and won't have to worry about tan lines for my wedding. Might even encourage my FI to tan a bit before we go too!
  3. Good idea, I was thinking of the same thing today. My wedding is a year and 8 months away, but I'd like to get into shape now, and stay in shape until the wedding. It would be great to be at my desired weight and nice and toned while trying on wedding dresses. I go to the gym once and a while with my friends, and my diet could definitely use some work, my main issue is motivation. What keeps you motivated?
  4. I love the jeweled monogram or initials, and you're right, they wont take up alot of room in my suitcase!
  5. I will be getting married at the Riu Palace Punta Cana March 2013, I have stayed at a few RIUs in the past so my decision was easy. You will not be disappointed with the RIU.
  6. I've been to Mexico few times and thought I'd like to get married there. Los Cabos has a great background for pictures on the beach. My FI wants to get married in DR although neither of us has been there, his mother attended a wedding just a few months ago and had nothing but good things to say. The Riu Palace Punta Cana has a cute little white gazebo my FI is in love with. We plan on taking our winter trip this year to Punta Cana so we can check it out.
  7. Oops, correction, the wedding I attended and the Santa Fe were in Los Cabos Mexico. My most recent trip (where I got engaged) was in the Mayan Riviera, we stayed at the Riu Tequila directly across the road from the Palace. The Tequila has the same type of disco, definitely within walking distance. There are a few sister resorts surrounding the Palace that your friends will be able to go to, again the sister resorts having more of a younger crowd.
  8. I attended a wedding at the Riu Santa Fe one and a half years ago. The Santa Fe is a sister resort immediately next door to the Palace. If you have people in your party that like to 'party' I would suggest you recommend they check out the Santa Fe which seems to be a younger crowd then the Palace. The Santa Fe does have a disco, it is pretty disappointing, but if you have enough drinks and group of good friends I'm sure you'll manage to have a good time just like I did.
  9. Before you order ANYTHING online make sure you check out the selling website on 'retailmenot.com', you may find there are some coupon codes or discounts available to you.
  10. My parents are also divorced, and this is part of the reason we have chosen to have a destination wedding. My parents not exactly getting along with each other is something that has constantIy been in my thoughts when dreaming about my wedding, even as a child. I was hoping with the relaxed atmosphere everything will go smoothly, and both of my parents actually think a DW is a good idea. You may consider choosing a resort that is large enough that your mother and father can spend their days at opposite ends of the resort, or choosing a resort that has a sister resort next to it. I know the RIUs generally have a few resorts lumped together; your parents can stay at different sister resorts, then you or they, can choose to come and go to the sister resorts when you/they please, as you have access to them all. One of them could also plan on staying at a different resort entirely then get a day pass to be there for the wedding, and you could plan on getting together at some other point for an excursion or day out, to include them as much as possible. In the end, they should be there for you and understand that weddings are stressful enough without having to act as a mediator between your parents. I wish you luck!!!
  11. I was wondering if anyone have considered having their wedding at the new Riu Palace Bavaro? The pictures look lovely. My FI and I are considering the Riu Palace Punta Cana right now because we'd like to get married under the gazebo instead of on the beach. If anyone visits the new Palace Bavaro I'd like to know if they also have a gazebo.
  12. Thomas and Philana, Riu Palace Punta Cana, too early to have a confirmed date but we'd like to start the rest of our lives together early March 2013
  13. I am also classified as a 'lurker', I'd consider myself more of an observer...
  14. Hey ladies, I don't order anything online without checking if I can get a better deal using Retailmenot. If you check out 'retailmenot.com' and type in 'vistaprint.ca' the link will come up with all the current freebies. I have not ordered anything yet as we don't have our date confirmed, but I've spent some time designing a STD postcard and logo, so much fun!!! Can't wait to put in my first order.
  15. Hi ladies! I will be getting married in early March 2013 at the Riu Palace Punta Cana. It's hard to do any planning when you don't have an exact date, a confirmed location, or any idea how many guests you might have. I'm from Ontario Canada, my FI was the one to choose the RIU Palace, we have stayed at a few Riu resorts in Mexico and have always been impressed.
