  1. Hi girls! Just wondering if anyone knows where to purchase those led throwies that you can clip into the paper lanterns? Also, is the light that it gives off more of a yellow light or a white light? I'm looking for a soft yellow. thanks !
  2. Totally unrelated to the get together but have to ask you Toronto ladies something... Can anyone refer me to a good seamstress that charges a reasonable rate? I think I've been referred to a seamstress who deals with one of the Danforth stores and she seems a bit pricey... just curious if she is or if that's the going rate. I have some time but would like to meet with one soon to get started on my gown. Thanks girls!! Much appreciated
  3. Hey there! I thought about adding sunblock to the oot's but everyone will be bringing their own so opted not to. Instead i'm adding aloe! I've also included spf lip balm. If you really want to add sunblock I've seen it (decent stuff) at the dollarama for $2.
  4. Hey - I'm sorry, I didn't even see the title of this thread. We're staying at the Iberostar Rose hall but we're having our wedding off the resort. We've booked through Tropical Weddings Jamaica.
  5. We have the same wedding date! I'm a Jamaica bride as well on April 18, 2012!
  6. Hey girls! FI and I had our engagement photos this weekend, it was so fun! We brought the doggies with us and had a great time... puts me back into the wedding spirit! I've been so busy with work I just haven't had time to think about the wedding and planning, etc... but we had more fun than we thought we would. MIL is also having a shower for us in a couple of weeks so that should be fun! A little daunting because it will be all of his family and I don't know them all very well but it's for both of us so he has to be there and a couple of my girls are going to come with so it should be a good time. Capecodder: Your dress is beautiful! Congrats!!
  7. These are very pretty, well done! I too made my own passport invites and found the design was definitely the most time consuming! Every time I looked at it I wanted to move something around or change wording, coloring, etc... My guests raved about them! All the hard work paid off, I had so many of them tell me they were the nicest invitations they'd ever seen so it was well worth it in the end. For anyone else doing your own invites, I found all of my images online, I googled for hours! lol
  8. hey Tori, Sorry to hear about the bumps in the wedding planning road Planning a destination wedding is not easy, definitely not as easy as I expected anyhow! Good for you for staying calm I hope that when I hit my next bump in the road I too can stay calm! I had never heard of beachbody insanity! I'm going to google it now! lol!! I want to start some kind of program, work has been so busy I haven't had any gym time but need to start something soon!
  9. Wow, thanks for sharing luvmoo! I agree, totally ridiculous. They will obviously be working, they aren't going to be sitting around eating and drinking all day! Nor will they be lounging by the pool, the beach, or using the hotel facilities as a guest would. You're absolutely right about nickel and diming, I found it was getting too ridiculous and we weren't getting the flexibility we wanted so we've booked with TWJ and are having our wedding off-site. I researched, analyzed and compared for hours and at the end of the day we feel we are getting more for our money and we have more flexibility and options to have the wedding we envisioned when we decided we wanted a beach destination wedding. If you're interested in more details, pm me! ( i am just assuming) and we are paying for the day passes and vendor fees, which technically is to cover these costs... WELL. they wrote back the following: Hello Jennifer, You will still have to pay the extra person charges for the for the photographer. Evan if they will pay the day pass, the wedding is a special event and need a special set up. This is where the extra charges coming in. Now, this charges will apply only if they will stay at the restaurant and eat with you otherwise (if they go to the buffet to eat) you will not have to pay the charges. I think that is ridiculous... why would i ask my photographer to eat at the buffet.. when they are going to be taking pictures of the dinner and all of that stuff... these extra charges just seem like such a money grab. *sigh* i sure wish hindsight was 20/20 As much as i know my wedding will be perfect and everything i dreamed of etc... the nickel and diming and all of the "hidden costs" that are incurred.. it is just getting ridiculous.. I am done my vent.. and just wanted to share this, incase anyone else was curious.
  10. This message is for the Toronto girls: We have a get together coming up in November, check out the update, new date is November 17. Tori - I do like the shoes! You have to love them though
  11. I hear ya ladies! We have had a number of people say they're coming but haven't booked yet, so I really won't have any idea until right before we go!! Grr.. Anyhow, we've also moved our wedding to a private beach, we'll have the ceremony & reception there. We wanted something private and more intimate, the resort pricing is unpredictable and we found a company who has been great to work with and very willing to negotiate (ie, if we want to substitute things in her pkg, etc...).
  12. 4% to pay by cc?! WTF! That's crazy, they don't even pay that much in fees to MC/Visa so it's another way of making $$. Pay by cash! Go where you get the best rate possible for currency exchange and pay them cash so you can avoid extra costs.
  13. hey there! I have not read great things about that site, google them & reviews and you should be able to find something. During my search, I contacted several places including Flight Center, CAA, itravel, red tag, etc... I wound up with an independent TA. If I were to do it again, I would likely go with CAA. They had great customer service, responded very quickly to my questions and had comparable rates to the rest of the them. They were also very professional and I'm certain my guests would have had a very positive experience in dealing with them. Good luck!
  14. I just signed up for Luxe Box! Can't wait to get the first one in November!!!!!!! Thanks again for sharing!
  15. Hey girls! Was just on BTR and saw some really cute "I Do" cufflinks for men!! For any brides who's FI's are wearing suits http://www.beyondtherack.com/member/invite/NND5E0AF48D
  16. Ooooh, Love the present to yourself every month! I think I just might have to sign up! Janet - have a wonderful time! Can't wait to see your planning thread! I had to share girls, the FI and I just booked our off-site wedding! We finally made a decision and are going to have our ceremony and reception on a private beach!! I'm so excited to finally have that decision made and the day booked! happy planning!
  17. Canadian Brides!!!!!!!!!
  18. Hey Luvmoo! If escalation doesn't work with the place you got them from I would find something at a store like Jacob or rw or sears, etc... Even bridal shops you will run the risk that they differ in color if they aren't ordered from the same place at the same time plus it will be expensive. I picked dresses from Jacob and they are perfect! They are flowy and beachy and 50 a dress. Good luck!! name="luvmoo" url="/t/74816/canadian-brides/980#post_1684443"] Hey Ladies!!! I am in a bind right now.. and i am hoping to vent and lean on you ladies.. i am a cross between crying and laughing.... and really not sure where to go from here! Soo! I have a maid of honor and two bridesmaids. Each girl ordered their own dresses ( all the same dress, and same website) and each one of them had several issues with the dress when it came in. #1, all three of them ended up being different colors... so we added different shades of blue to our wedding colors to make it work around the dresses.. which was no problem.. The last bridesmaid just got her dress on Friday.. and it is absolutely hideous!!!! i have attached pictures below, so you could see the difference in two of the dresses... the first one is okay.. the 2nd one.. just horrendous!!! when we complained to the company.. they told us that they looked just fine and they thought the dress is beautiful.. and that the two dresses below are close enough to eachother and will look good in the wedding.. and they will not refund us nor will they make a new one. they told us they will make a new one for a discounted price of 60.00 USD, plus shipping. and they told us if we really don't like it, then we can take it to a tailor to get fixed... At this point.. i am sooo angry.. I don't want to look at these dresses ever again. it is just ruined for me.. and now i find them all ugly.. lol I am just soo upset! i am 4 months away from my wedding.. and I now have these horrendous dresses that do not match... and the last pic below.. looks NOTHING like online.. I can't make the girls buy a 2nd dress.. so my FI and I are now forced to buy 3 dresses we didn't budget for.. which sucks.. but the other thing is.. now what?! The bridesmaid that got the bottom pictured dress.. is now being very difficult.. and doesn't want to order a dress online.. but i have three bridesmaids that are all different sizes, and one that lives in a different city.. The dresses below, it is hard to see in the 2nd pic, as it was a close up of the embellishment... but the sash on the front is different.. the material is flowy in the front on the first dress.. but just sewn on the front in the 2nd one.. The dress is absolute garbage... Does anyone have any suggestions on maybe a good REPUTABLE place for good dresses ? I just really don't even know what to do... ugh.. ANY suggestions would be super helpful ladies!! *sigh* Thanks for listening ladies.. and DONT order ANYTHING from dressale.com
  19. You can find a veil on ebay for under $25 w/ shipping. I was looking there for them, am going to pick one up myself.
  20. These are really great! I'm also incorporating starfish into the wedding and am using fake starfish bought in the US as the place cards - they'll serve as favors too I guess! I'll put the guests name on one side and our names on the other with the wedding date. I was also thinking about turning it into a magnet by gluing little magnets to the back but haven't decided yet.
  21. Try this one, there's at least one other bride on here who has used her and one who is going to. We considered her but went with a photographer family and friends have used. http://www.heatherwindsor.com/ Heathers work is great and she seemed like she would be great to work with.
