  1. Congrats!! You have loads of time to book everything you will book your dinner one month prior when you fill in the wedding details form. As for reviews on the photographers and florists, bdw is already filled with loads of helpful info on them. Read through this thread and check out the reviews section, past brides have provided full reviews of the resort and vendors Happy planning!!
  2. Hey! So I don't believe it's filled up yet, I haven't heard that it has but I'm not sure if anyone has tried booking lately. That being said, I believe the weddings where they did fill up were taking place around the November-February months.
  3. Hey ladies! I would just caution about waiting too long because the resort fills up. I've read numerous posts here where guests were unable to book because the resort was full and there was still 3 months to go! It all depends on time of the year, etc... but with destination weddings gaining popularity and the Iberostar resorts among the most popular in MoBay, it might be worthwhile to at least secure group rates for your expected group with an operator that offers a price drop should their prices drop. One of our groups had a price drop so everyone was able to book at the lower rate than originally expected. Just a thought! I guess it also depends on group size... if you are expecting a larger group, it would be nice to "hold" those rooms.
  4. If its in your budget, rather than a bag you could take everyone on an excursion as a thank you for coming. Or maybe find something local as a token of appreciation and a souvenir.
  5. A trunk show is an opportunity for the designer to showcase their gowns usually before they are made available to the public, so it's probably new stuff and not likely to be at a huge discount. Maybe try looking for a sample sale? I just bought a dress on eBay for ttd, should be getting it any day! Very excited, just hope it fits well
  6. Wow, you got a great deal!! I checked with about 8 different agents and none of them came close. I guess date was a factor though, we were looking for April.
  7. Hi BrittVG: Which resort specifically? The Iberostar has three resorts at different price points. Pricing also depends on timing but generally, I think you'll be looking at about the following: Beach - 1600-1800 taxes in Suites - 1800-2000 taxes in Grand - 2000+ Try selloffvacations.com, expedia, flight center or some other site for an idea. Good luck!
  8. Sounds like you'll have to talk to the coordinators. There are vendor fees you would be required to pay for having outside vendors on the property. I *think* they are about $100 per person but you would need to validate with the resort. That being said, if you're not booking a ceremony with them then I imagine you might be able to arrange a package with them so you can secure the space for the day and so they don't book another wedding but I can't seem them coming down much from their existing package price. Otherwise, I can't see it making much sense for them to give up the $ for the package. Have you considered having the wedding off the resort?? It might be worthwile if you've got all your own vendors lined up already.
  9. Congrats! If you want to go to the Grand and you're all guests of the Suites you would have to pay for passes. You can probably arrange with your guests to just show up at the same place around the same time rather than paying for a cocktail hour if you didn't want to. I know how you feel girl about paying for drinks at an all-inclusive! lol!! We would like to have a welcome bonfire so we'd have a bonfire with an open bar and will pay extra for extra guests. It's a few hundred dollars, and while it all adds up we think it will be a great way to get everyone together and get to know each other at the beginning of the week
  10. Yes you do need to order the long birth certificates we did it online, didn't take long at all! Quote: Originally Posted by erin2100 got our date confirmation from IRHB! feel relieved after all the searching, glad we came across this place I have another question about the documents required, I noticed on the wedding agreement that the birth certificate has to have mother and fathers name listed on them, does that mean that we have to order the long form birth certificate or will they accept the ones that dont have parents names listed on them? Thanks!
  11. I forgot and wanted to mention something else, have you checked the Wedding Photojournalist Association site? http://www.wpja.com/ I think the photography is more focused on candid style of shooting and less portrait style if that's what you're looking for and you have to be accepted into this association so you know they are very talented photographers Again... good luck!
  12. I was amazed by the cost of photography when I started my research... that is decent for a very good photographer.
  13. Hey Krysta, I think this photographer does great work!! I really love her style. Have you been able to see complete weddings (ie. albums) or just whats on the site? If you could see a whole wedding it will give you an opportunity to view a lot of her work rather than her best shots. Good luck!
  14. What about having one of your guests film it? That's what we're doing.
  15. Hi there, We are getting married in Jamaica and while our guest list was well over 100 people, we are likely going to be a group of about 35ish. For us people simply can't afford it, or planned to vacation elsewhere already and there were quite a few preggars! lol! At least five of our guests are expecting, just had babies or will have them right around the time we get married. When we opted to go the destination route we told ourselves that we should be prepared to go just the two of us. We're very thankful for the people that are coming, it means a lot to us and we know it's a lot to ask people, it's a big expense, it's time off work, etc... There are some people who can't make it though we really wanted them there (FI's two best men), so that's a bit of a disappointment but at the end of the day it's out of our control and out of our hands Quote: Originally Posted by jenjosh2012 Hello Ladies, I am new to this site...seems like a lot of people are getting married in Jamaica! 16. Cute dress! I would go with maybe a satin or taffeta ribbon and add a flower with feathers. You can try making one yourself or buying one, i've seen lots on etsy. Alternatively you could go with someting with some bling on it. A sash with some beading/crystals might also look really pretty rather than a flower which could compete with the floral design already in the dress.
  17. Hi Erin, So I can help with some of your info: 1) I'll PM it to you.as I noticed you only have 4 posts so you won't be able to download it if it's posted. 2) There is one wedding ceremony per day at each of the resorts (Beach, Suites, Grand). So there could be three wedding ceremonies in total but only one at each of the resorts. That being said, there could be multiple weddings because some couples get married off the resort and have the reception back at the resort. If you're having the ceremony on the resort, you'll be the one wedding that day and you'll have priority over reception-only couples/wedding parties. 3) Standard beach set up is white chair covers with either a gold or silver chair tie; The huppa is covered in white fabric with some "greenery". There is also your choice of a white or red aisle runner. They will also set up a small table for the signing of the certificate, it's covered in white fabric and there is a floral decoration provided but i'm not sure what it looks like. 4) Restaurant appears to be set up with covered chairs (white covers, silver or gold chair ties); white fabric table cloths and there may be a floral decoration at the bride/groom table but am not certain. Other decorations are extra or you can bring your own and they will set it up - although you should confirm with the resort for your specific set-up requirements. Hope that helps - And just so you know, I haven't gotten married there yet but will be in April, I've gathered all of this info through numerous conversations with the resort and through this forum. Good luck!
  18. Question for all brides, past & present: Did anyone manage to have their wedding on live feed for those who couldn't attend? Either via skype or some other means and if so, how? I've had friends ask about it but I'm not sure it's possible given there has to be a pretty good internet connection. We can always record it and send it but it might be fun to have them "present" online Let me know if anyone's figured it out with the resort!
  19. Thanks for the info on the disco ladies!! I think I'm just going to keep my dress on all night, I absolutely love it and it's my one and only day, right!?
  20. Hi girls... question for all the past Iberostar brides: Is the disco super hot? I ask because i'm not sure if I should switch into a short dress for the disco or stay in my long wedding gown. I'll be wearing a long, raw silk gown, it's strapless with a fitted bodice and pick-up skirt so there's some dress to carry around Thank you!!
  21. Hi girls! ideeli.com is having a sale on Badgley Mischka shoes!! Nothing over 89.00. A lot is sold out already but a few really gorgeous shoes left!
  22. Best thing for all you girls asking about whether or not lanterns are allowed is to check with the resort and get confirmation from them firsthand this will avoid you buying them and potentially incurring additional luggage costs to find out when you get there that you can't release them. Anyone in Toronto wanting to share costs, send me a PM.
  23. Hi there, Check out this link: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/forum/newestpost/38128 It's labelled Canadian OOT bag where to shop but you'll get more ideas than you know what to do with! Do a search for OOT bags and I'm sure you'll find many threads that will give you lots of ideas. Good luck!
  24. Hi Joanne, Have you tried facebook? The passing of the starfish thread actually moved to facebook a few months ago so that might be a better place to check Good luck!
  25. Hey there, we registered at the Bay and it worked out well. We didn't want to do a registry either but there are people who can't make it that wanted to buy gifts, plus my future in-laws had a shower for us. My BM's are also having a shower/bachelorette for me in the next couple of months so I think people will probably use it as well. Quote: Originally Posted by janette34 Is anyone doing a gift registry? The only place I could think of online was Sears, but there really isn't anything we need or want from there. Can anyone think of any other online shops that would offer a nice selection with various price points?
