I've read that keeping the dress in the vinyl garment bag that the dress shop gives you can discolor your dress. I remember someone mentioning that they purchased a special garment bag for their dress, and I was wondering where to get one and what specifically to look for. Has anyone bought a garment bag?

Thanks for the input! I am way too scared to actually steam it myself; I ruined a bridesmaid's dress for my friend's wedding doing that once. I've been trying to do some research on steaming/pressing silk wedding gowns, and I'm getting totally conflicting answers (of course.) Now I'm even more confused.

Ok, this might be a little ridiculous, but I'm already nervous about this. Have any ROR brides gotten their dresses steamed by the resort before the wedding? I'm counting on my dress having a few wrinkles after the travel from Chicago to MBJ, and I know the resort offers this service. BUT, I'm worried that my dress will get ruined or something. Any advice or tips?

Hi! We're getting married July 20 at ROR. We have 60 guests so far!

We are doing a catamaran after our wedding in July. It'll be exactly how you mentioned- we'll dance, drink, swim, and snorkel. We're going through Cruise Adventures Jamaica, and it'll be around $60-70 a person, depending on how many people go.

My fiance and the groomsmen are wearing linen suits, and he's picked out a tan pair of Sperry's to wear with them. I'm really undecided about how they look together. What shoes are your guys wearing with their linen pants?

I've used the Urban Decay setting spray, and it's just ok. I've heard good things about the MAC one, and I've also heard great things about Model in a Bottle. I want to try those two before the wedding.

I am so bummed! The suit came yesterday, and neither the pants or jacket fit him. The waist and length were perfect on the pants, but the seat and thighs were HUGE. I probably could have fit in there with him. The jacket was good across the shoulders and the sleeves were good, but once he buttoned it up it was pretty snug around his stomach. We did order the slim fit as opposed to regular, so I think that may be why the jacket is snug there. Did anyone else order a slim fit jacket? What did you think of it? I felt terrible, because my fiance was so excited to get the suit, and he literally looked like a clown with it on.

The closer I get to the big day (less than 4 months!), the more anxious I get about my makeup. I've been trying to read up on beach wedding makeup, but I feel like I don't really get any consistent information. What are some helpful makeup tips or advice? I've read that you shouldn't use a moisturizer or makeup with SPF in it the day of, because it could make your face shiny. What else should we remember to do or avoid?

Lauren, I did get a quote from Tai Flora, and even with the vendor fee, it was still cheaper to use Jan's Flowers.

I ordered it on Sept. 24, and it came in a few weeks ago. I can't wait to wear it!

I'm wearing PB 4106. I love it for the same reason so many others chose Paloma Blanca or Mikaella- the fabric is so beautiful and lightweight! They're perfect for the beach!

I just wanted to say that I ordered swatches on Monday, and they arrived yesterday! Three days later! I couldn't believe how quick it was. After seeing the swatches, we're definitely going to order the suits, and I'm excited.

I'm sorry! This seems like a total mess. It's hard to advise you what to do, since I don't know any of the people involved. But, if it were me, I think the easiest thing to do would be to invite them to the wedding. Then it's up to them whether or not they come and make amends. Like Abbie said, sometimes you have to do what you don't want to do, because it's best for your family. Whatever you decide, good luck!

Yes! It took forever for them to respond. I ended up choosing Jan's Flowers.

I think it's ok to not buy them gifts, since you are purchasing their outfits and paying for hair and make up.

Gotta love VP! I think the pre-travel brochures are a great idea. I want to send those out with the OOT bags before we leave for the trip. I don't know how I would manage to get the OOT bags with all of my other luggage to the resort.
