  1. Wow, 2011 is coming to a close and then it's finally here. It'll finally be the year of us 2012 brides! I cannot wait, it's so exciting! How is the planning coming for you all?
  2. I think that I'm still going to ask my WC at aventura palace if I can use these. I love the idea, and perhaps its the wording. One bride mentioned that she just made the wc aware, didn't ask permission. Also, mentioning that you are purchasing the 100% biodegradable lanterns may help the situation. Of course, wind would be an understandable reason to not allow it that night. I think its still worth a try, even if some brides may have been told no. Does anyone have video of the floating lotus lanterns? I wondered if those were as breathtaking as the sky lanterns are.
  3. Hey pam79, I'm a June bride as well! We booked at Aventura Cove Palace after a site visit to other Palace resorts in March. Its in Riviera Maya, Mx on the 30th. Have you booked yours yet?
  4. Lindy S, If you are still looking for a photographer, check out La Luna if you haven't seen them already. I booked them for our wedding in June and they have been wonderful in communication and their work is fabulous. I felt that they were reasonably priced as well for the caliber of work they do.
  5. Ahah!! I think he changed his website. Here's a link to his vendor page on this site: http://www.bestdestinationwedding.com/products/maya-floral and on it he gives a link to his service list, which appears to be a different site than was listed at the beginning of this thread. http://www.mayafloral.com/our_services.php Phew! Still, any input on how you ladies planned these large unknowns of table size and guest list I would really appreciate the info!
  6. I noticed that the website that was posted at the beginning of this thread is no longer working. My wedding is in June of 2012 and I wasn't sure how far in advance to contact him. Do any of you ladies have a suggestion on how soon I should start communication with Marvin? Also, how did you all decide what you needed before you had a final guest count? I'm so completely stressed about reception decor since I don't have a solid head count ( a family of procrastinators) and therefore I have no idea of how many tables or how large they will be in order to even guess what my centerpiece needs are. I just know I don't want to pay Palace prices and Marvin seems great...aside from some communication delays
  7. Kloos5, My understanding after reading the wedding contract/faq's was that they wouldn't allow things to be shipped directly to the resort. Were you able to work around that policy?
  8. We visited Cancun Palace in March and thought the resort was beautiful. We chose Aventura Cove, ourselves, but Cancun is really convenient to the airport and very nice. Happy planning!
  9. So excited! We've been looking at Del Sol for a year but just weren't sure if we could make it happen with our budget. La Luna is a great alternative! We've booked Rachel for June 30th next year and couldn't be more thrilled. I can hardly stand the anticipation
  10. Sunandsand78, I haven't personally seen any of these, we only visited Palace resorts when we were in Mexico scoping out options. I've definitely heard about Le Reve. I think someone else suggested it, but looking around on the vendor review portion of this site should prove helpful
  11. I'm really shocked at how much they want for the lighting set up.Has anyone else inquired/priced as to whether the palace resorts will set up supplies you bring with, and if so if there's a limit? I was going to bring my own paper lanterns and table runners etc, but I emailed the planner at Aventura Cove Palace (where we are having the wedding) over a week ago and no response. I was hoping to get an idea of what the lay out of tables is going to look like and what lighting looks like when they set it up initially so that I can plan. This part is by far the most stressful.
  12. People are going to be hurt no matter what you do Ive found. Some are insulted that we are doing it far away, but for us our family is so spread out that if we did it in one local we would be "favoring" a particular part of the family. We decided to eff it and do a destination wedding. We're booked for June 30th, 2012 at Aventura Cove Palace in Riviera Maya, Mexico. So far all has been going pretty smooth. You could always start picking out save the dates, invites, etc. Just not ordering the printing till you get all your plans for day/time/local finalized
  13. Hi Mellisay123, I had the same issues. We chose our resort but couldn't book for a bit. What we ended up doing is waiting till we were officially booked so that no changes could possibly made save for a act of god lol We sent our save the dates and will send our invites to all of our family, whether they will or will not likely come. It really depends on your situation though. If we get surprised and more people come than we were anticipating, then it doesn't really add very much to my bottom line cost other then OOT bags, favors, etc. We thought it would be better to at least make the gesture of acknowledging all of the people we would if we were doing the wedding here. It really depends on your personal situation and how your resort works as far as additional guests should more people than you were anticipating respond. Happy planning!!
  14. Beautiful, Tris. I have several months before I'm going to need to mail out my invites so i think I may take on this project. I love the texture and I'm doing a more pastel aqua color so that will compliment beautifully. You've provided some great inspiration here I hope that your wedding went fabulously!
  15. Canadiangirl- I am using a TA, Teresa Stauring. I saw she was actually recommended on here a few times. She's been a pleasure to work with so far. AmyG- it is stressful when people are so slow to move on this stuff. Its a delicate balance between nudging those who've verbally said they are going and nagging them lol. My dad was telling me that he doesn't even get to choose his vacation weeks at his job until January, so if people have jobs like that then it may be more difficult to pin them down. I saw someone mention that they were going to send reminder post cards later on. I thought that was a really good idea. I'll have to look my info back over, but I'm pretty sure that everything needs to be paid for 2 months prior to the wedding date as well, but I'm giving everyone till 3 months prior. I dont want them all waiting till THE last second and making me crazy. So some people are sending out formal invites 4 months prior, and some are sending them out 6 months prior. What's everyone's opinion on this? When is the best time to send out formal invites? Do you try to stay around the hectic Thanksgiving-Christmas period so that your invites don't get shuffled out of site out of mind?
  16. Hello all! We are getting married at Aventura Cove Palace on June 30th, 2012. We mailed out our save the dates last month (pic below) and now I'm just trying to figure out the rest! So far we have 3 rooms booked + myself and the FI. I'm so torn on when to send out the formal invites. How have you all decided to handle the nudges to get people who have verbally said they are going to book? I guess I shouldn't be so concerned since we are still a year out =D We did book Rachel at La Luna to do our photos though. I feel very good about that, otherwise I'm a total stress-monster lol
  17. we've booked but you really dont do any of the actual planning until 90 days prior. Right now I'm working on the photographer situation and just sent out save the dates. I'll post pics as soon as we have more info to begin planning the decor. I was toying with the idea of finding a florist in the area and having them deliver flowers. The resort will do them but at a ridiculous price! Anyone else have ideas or experience?
  18. that's very pretty too. I saw that dress on their site of their completed work. Do you all know who may be best at doing the kind of beading detail that i'm needing? I'm in the process of digging through the posts, but there are several hundred lol
  19. For those of you who have bought a dress sight-unseen (at least in person). How did it work out for you? I'm desperately in love with this dress but its an older style. I'm considering having it made but its so important to me that the beading detail be there. I'm not so unrealistic to say that it must be identical, but the beading on the overlay is part of what I love so much about this dress. For those of you with experience, is it enough to just try on a similar style of dress to make sure at least the style looks good on me? And if I am concerned about specific details being intact with the dress being made, is this something that can be done if I express the specific concerns I have or am I unrealistic?
  20. Very exciting! We're getting married in Mexico, June 2012 too! We ended up choosing Aventura Cove Palace, but there were so many resorts we saw while we were down there. You'll have more options than you'll know what to do with
  21. June 30th 2012 at Aventura Cove Palace is officially reserved! We did a site inspection to make our final choice a week ago and looked at Beach Palace, Aventura Cove palace, and Playacar Palace. Playacar palace was completely unimpressive. The only think I felt that it had going for it was that it was a stones throw (quite literally) from the Cozumel ferry. Beach palace was fabulous, the only downside was that it was kind of small, at least small for considering about 50-70 guests. No matter where we would be we would run into our guests. Not that that's a bad thing, but on a honeymoon a touch of alone time is a good thing. Aventura was gorgeous. I am still having difficulty choosing where we want the ceremony/reception because all of the options are so impressive! I'll post some of my site pics in the various forums.
  22. Yah, Mine is June 2012 and they have extended the 1500 promotion. We just visited Aventura Cove, Beach Palace, and Playacar palace and Aventura was so impressive. We were really leaning toward Beach Palace and we loved the location of Playacar, but our wedding party is larger, so we felt like we would never be able to escape seeing anyone if we were at Beach and Playacar was just in no way nearly as nice as the other 2. Aventura was BEAUTIFUL
  23. Hey ladies! I'm about to head out to view Beach Palace, Playacar Palace, and Aventura in 2 weeks. We were able to get our 4 night trip credited toward our wedding, so we are very excited to get this all squared away. We decided to stay at Beach Palace while we view the other resorts since that's our favorite so far. Our wedding isn't until June 2012, so we have some time but I want to negotiate the contract and book the room block so that I can start on the save the dates. Everything I've heard about Palace resorts has been so positive that I don't even want to look at any other resort chains. I plan on taking pictures of each resort so I'll post them when we get back for everyone's information
  24. I can't wait to go see this resort in March! I really liked Beach Palace, but this one may be best for my guests comfort
